"Make sure the dog is hydrated. I'll check back in later." Save the dog! And save the world! Hot Dog is a comedy short filmed in one shot, from writer / director Patrick Muhlberger. Set at a parking lot in Southern California, a group of coworkers try to rescue a dog locked in a hot car. Chaos ensues. Muhlberger perfectly describes his film: "Hot Dog is a single shot comedy that is basically 1917, but with idiots in a parking lot." Hot Dog stars Elisha Yaffe as Matt, along with Marissa Rivera, Nathan Ramos, Gabe Gibbs, Vic Michaelis, and Cecily Breaux. While this short isn't particularly innovative, it is clever and funny, and that still makes it an enjoyably entertaining short to watch. Not only is there meticulous work in setting up the scene and all the people that interact with the characters, but the witty writing also adds some intense drama to the situation.

Decay focuses on a middle-aged grounds keeper at a local theme park (played by Rob Zabrecky) that suffers from a debilitating case of Ocd. One day, his daily routine is disrupted by a surprise visitor in his basement: a beautiful young woman who, through a jarring turn of events, ends up dead. Jonathan panics and chooses not to report the dead girl. Instead, he invites her to dinner. Jonathan is happy to have a friend, until the police start closing in, and his mind, and the body of the girl, begins to decay.
Opening with a quote taken from a thousand internet memes is an odd way to start a horror movie. But then Decay is odd all over – odd characters, odd situations and an oddly beautiful appearance. And oddly,...

For the third time in as many years, New Form Digital has shared a slate of pilots helmed by its partners in the online video space. The studio’s latest output represents the third wave of its “incubator series,” and it includes contributions from creators who are known for their work on YouTube and other digital platforms.
The creators who New Form tapped for its first two incubators waves included several of YouTube’s most popular personalities, including Joey Graceffa, Anna Akana, and Wong Fu Productions. This time, however, New Form has dug a little deeper. The creators featured in the studio’s third are a mix of mid-level YouTubers, digital media vets, and aspiring filmmakers, including Olan Rogers, Wilson Cleveland, and Elisha Yaffe. The genres those creators are similarly diverse, ranging from comedy to psychological thriller to sci-fi. As with the previous two incubator rounds, there is only one constant presence: Mitchell Davis,...

"Time Travel Lover" is a great sci-fi comedy short about a guy who is about to hook up with a girl, when all of a sudden his future self travels back in time to tell his past self to stop and leave. This sparks an argument between them, which is just the beginning of what escalates into completely craziness. The short was directed Bo Mirosseniby from a script by Elisha Yaffe, and I thought it was a very smart and funny film. I hope you enjoy it. ...

Why Watch? Let’s say you tell your friend that if you ever love a Michael Bay movie, he should just go ahead and kill you. Then, 10 years later, you rave about Bay’s latest (a heartfelt remake of My Fair Lady), and your pal shows up on your doorstep with a gun. He’d only be doing his duty, right? Even more complicated, in a world where time travel exists, what authority do you have to make decisions that will affect your future self? This excellent short film from director Bo Mirosseni and writer Elisha Yaffe (presented by Partizan Films) toys with the more mundane uses of the profoundly powerful tool, proving that it’ll be the personal things (and probably not assassination attempts on Hitler) that will do the most damage. Time Travel Lover is a hilarious — often dispiriting — exercise in having a plan laid out before you that you never asked to see. In...

Here's a great comedy short that you've got to check out called The Promise. The movie has a very simple set up but it works perfectly. It shows you what you can do with solid writing and acting.
The whole story takes place in a parking garage with two friends. One of them uses the opportunity to fulfill a promise he made to his friend five years earlier. I won't say exactly what the promise is (the pic above is a good hint though) because it's just one of those things best experienced while watching the film.
The Promise was directed by Sam Molleur who also co-wrote the script with Curt Neill and Elisha Yaffe. I loved this short. Even though it was a simple concept it was executed well and was extremely entertaining. I think you'll enjoy it!
