Welcome to the latest installment in a brand-new series here on Nerdly, Terrible Terror, in which we highlight some of, what we think, are the Worst horror movies to have ever burnt my retina with their atrociousness. Up this time is direct to DVD fear-flick House of Bones – which stars some familiar faces from television.
Stars: Charisma Carpenter, Marcus Lyle Brown, Ricky Wayne, Kyle Clements, Collin Galyean, Corin Nemec | Written by Anthony C. Ferrante, Jay Frasco | Directed by Jeffery Lando
Yet another entry into the long line of films that take their cues from reality television, House of Bones follows the investigators of “Sinister Sites” a cheesy ghost-hunting show that is losing viewers by the day thanks to its clueless host and a lack of ghosts in the show. In an effort to boost the ratings the producers insist that the Sites team shoot an episode at a rumoured haunted...

What do you get when you cross bio-engineering, strippers, deadly fish, gold-flake cinnamon drank, and lovable losers? You get awesome, is what you get. This particular serving of awesome is called 'Piranha Sharks', and it comes to you from the mind of one Leigh Scott. Sigh. Yes, 'Transmorphers' Leigh Scott. No, this is not 'Transmorphers'. Relax.
Piranha Sharks are bio-engineered creatures, that are repackaged, and targeted towards kids, as the year's hot new Christmas item. However, when the animals make their way into the New York water system, it falls on Jackson (Collin Galyean), and his pest-killing buddies (John Wells, and Josh Hammond) to get rid of them, before they destroy the city.
The writing works first, to set this film apart. It takes a shot at many of the cheesy indie cliches, with hilarious class, and accuracy.

Fans of horror anthologies like Creepshow or Tales from the Crypt will find plenty to love with The Penny Dreadful Picture Show. The film has some flaws, but they are easy to look past thanks to a great blend of horror and humor and the icon creating performance of Eliza Swenson as our tour guide Penny. Writers/Directors Nick Everhart, Leigh Scott and Eliza Swenson have put together an eclectic collection of horror shorts with Penny (who is just looking for love, even if she has to find it on the Internet), Wolfboy (Dillon Geyselaers) and Ned (Collin Galyean) introducing each as we watch in an abandoned movie theater that serves as Penny’s home and place where she is meeting...

Not to be confused with the upcoming Showtime series bearing the title “Penny Dreadful” or the After Dark HorrorFest entry of the same name, The Penny Dreadful Picture Show is a new horror anthology starring Sid Haig, Jeffrey Combs, and ex-wrestler Al Snow.
That Penny Dreadful sure is a popular gal these days!
The Penny Dreadful Picture Show includes three tales of terror, each set in a different decade. Your host is the delightfully creepy Penny Dreadful and her twisted friends Dead Ned and Wolfboy. Horror film legends Sid Haig and Jeffery Combs join actors Al Snow, Collin Galyean, Josh Hammond, Barry Ratcliffe, Sam Soule and Ramona Mallory on this voyage through the history of cinema and your darkest nightmares.
What the actual segments are about is still a bit of a mystery, but it appears the 1970’s segment deals with a vanload of people falling victim to maniacs, and...

“This jumpy horror yarn (headlined by Corin Nemec and Charisma Carpenter) takes you on the journey with a group of reality television ghost hunters as they get trapped in a haunted plantation home. Their initial attempt for creating an entertaining reality show soon becomes a lot darker than anticipated. Through their attempt to uncover the many secrets in this haunted house, they become convinced that they are not only in the presence of the dead but surrounded by evil, supernatural activity. As fleeting spirits are spotted, fear becomes apparent. Crew members start going missing, objects around are disappearing and the house itself feels alive. Welcome to Elliotsville. It’s like your typical American small town, except the residents are kinda robots. Okay, they’re not so much kinda, they’re pretty much robots. So what happens when you take that set-up and add a gang of sexy female bikers (cause if they were fat and ugly, it just wouldn’t be any fun) and some gun-toting redneck types (I know what you’re thinking: what, there are other types of rednecks?) into the mix? Hopefully lots of blood, gunplay, and exploding robots. Check out a trailer for Leigh Scott’s “Chrome Angels” below, which features some nifty gunplay and lots and lots of exploding squibs. Starring Stacey Dash, Paul Le Mat, Frida Show, Eliza Swenson, Kristen Quintrall, Jackey Hall, Dean N. Arevalo, Collin Galyean, Brent Lydic, and Monti Domingue. Written and directed by Leigh Scott. More info at the film’s official site. Chrome Angels...
