The official website for Kazuyuki Izutsu’s Ōgon wo Daite Tobe has been relaunched with a new teaser trailer. Note: I have no idea if “Fly With the Gold” is the actual English title or just a literal translation they’re slapping on things because they think it looks cool. The latter happens a lot.
The film stars Satoshi Tsumabuki as Koda, a supplier for radical extremists and criminals who’s approached by an old university friend named Kitagawa (Tadanobu Asano) with a plan to steal 1.5 billion yen in gold bars from a vault under the main branch of Sumida Bank.
Kitagawa puts together a team consisting of a banking system engineer named Noda (Kenta Kiritani), a foreign spy posing as an engineering exchange student named Momo (Changmin of Tvxq), Kitagawa’s younger brother Haruki (Junpei Mizobata), and a former elevator technician called Jiichan - literally “Grandpa” (Toshiyuki Nishida). On Thursday, the official website for Tsutomu Hanabusa’s High School Debut was updated with a full trailer.
Based on Kazune Kawahara’s popular shojo manga of the same name, the film stars fashion model Ito Ono as Haruna Nagashima, a girl who’s spent most of her time focusing on athletics. However, now that she’s entered high school, she wants to shift her focus to finding a boy to fall in love with. She’s not sure how to proceed toward her new goal, having no knowledge of fashion trends or how to become more attractive to boys, so she begs a popular boy named Yoh Komiyama (Junpei Mizobata) to becoming her “coach” after a chance encounter. He agrees to coach her on one condition: that she doesn’t fall in love with him. She agrees to his terms, but it isn’t long before she finds herself falling for him anyway.

The official website for Hideyuki Katsuki‘s Kimi ga Odoru, Natsu was recently updated with a second teaser trailer. It’s actually a bit shorter than the first teaser, but it features a few new bits of footage.
As Tokyograph reported last August, the film stars Junpei Mizobata as an aspiring photographer named Shinpei who leaves his hometown in Kochi Prefecture to move to Tokyo. After he leaves, his former girlfriend Kaori (Haruka Kinami) discovers that Shinpei’s little sister Sakura (Ayane Omori) is terminally ill, which leaves it up to Shinpei to help Sakura fulfill her dream of dancing in the upcoming Yosakoi festival.
South Korean boy band Tvxq (known as Tohoshinki in Japan) provided the film’s theme, “With All My Heart”, which is featured in both teasers.
Toei will be releasing “Kimi ga Odoru, Natsu” in Japan on September 11, 2010.

There’s nothing quite like the bliss associated with a good, well-executed horror/comedy, especially when it’s coming out of Japan. That being said, there’s something about Shi Shirakawa‘s upcoming genre hybrid “Neck” that seems a little off, though I honestly can’t put my finger on what, precisely, is causing me to have serious doubts about the production. The trailer embedded below — which arrives courtesy of the good boys and girls at Twitch — leaves me feeling a little uncertain about the film’s overall entertainment potential. That doesn’t mean I won’t watch it, mind you, but I am a little hesitant to do so. A temporary affliction, I’m sure. Here’s what it’s all about: Adapted by [original story author Otaro] Maijo himself, the story revolves around a university student named Tomokazu Shudo (Junpei Mizobata) who is experiencing his first love. The object of his affection...

The combination of horror and comedy elements can make for a successful venture. Sean of the Dead comes to mind. From what we have seen of Tucker & Dale vs. Evil they've seem to have hit it on the head [chortle] yet somehow still don't have distro.
Can the same be said for the horror comedy Neck out of Japan? Because as unique as the elements of a culture's horror are so is their comedy and the comedy in this looks like it teeters towards the sticky sweet variety. Not that I mind at all. I've watched enough JDrama RomCom in the past couple years to know what to expect. At least the premise of the film sounds interesting and you cannot argue against the presence of Chiaki Kuriyama. We're kind of sticky sweet on her already.
