RZA’s alter ego Bobby Digital returns with new song “Troubleshooting” from the Wu-Tang Clan founding member’s upcoming soundtrack for the graphic novel of the same name, Bobby Digital and The Pit of Snakes.
In the accompanying video, which features animated graphics inspired by the book, a bloody battle ensues while RZA deals with an internal battle, noting “trouble keeps on finding me… keeping me from love I need, that’s why I gotta take what’s mine.”
“Trapped in a web of trouble/I untangled it,” he raps in another verse.

When Sturgill Simpson released the album Sound & Fury in 2019, it arrived with a companion anime film on Netflix. Colorful, intense, and wildly violent, the movie focused on a shadowy muscle-car driver and his bloody mission of vengeance. In November, Simpson and Z2 Comics will probe the driver’s origin in Sound & Fury: The Graphic Novel, a prequel to the storyline of the film.
The novel comes in two formats, both 144 pages: a standard paperback version and a deluxe, oversize hardcover edition in a slipcase. Each is available for preorder. The...

Frank Miller returns to Batman’s dark future with Superman, Superboy, and Rafael Grampa.
DC’s Black Label is dropping a pretty big book in December: the latest in the series spawned from The Dark Knight Returns. This one is called The Golden Child, and the most shocking thing about it is probably its artist.
Rafael Grampa, the Eisner-winning Brazilian creator of 5 and Mesmo Delivery, takes the penciling duties for The Golden Child, while Frank Miller returns as writer. Grampa’s art style is like if you threw Sean Murphy, Paul Pope, and Frank Quitely in a blender. Spoilers: that’s real good. And he almost never does interiors!
The Golden Child is a 48-page one-shot, presumably oversized as the other Black Label books are. It picks up three years after the events of the last series. In that one, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Batwoman, and Lara...

Anytime one see’s American McGee branded upon a product, it’s best to approach with trepidation. One time, about a decade ago, the name was synonymous with originality and artistic vision within the video-game world. So after more abysmal than excellent games and blowing all his clout, American McGee, and his developing company Spicy Horse, decided to take to Kickstarter to fund his new game Akaniero: Demon Hunters, a loose re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood, where it currently sits with a meta-critic score of 56%.
Unfortunately for Dark Horse Comics, American McGee decided to throw in a comic book series to help promote the game which was released way back in February. This puts Dark Horse Comics in a poor position, since they now have to promote a comic series based on a wildly unpopular game.

Sneak Peek Marvel's "Once Upon A Time" graphic novel, illustrated by Nimit Malaia, available September 4, 2013, following the events of the Season 1 episode "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter".
"We wanted to explore some new narrative territory that the show hadn't fully covered yet," said Marvel Comics' editor Emily Shaw. "'The Huntsman' was perfect. Fans love him, he's such a compelling character, but his background is still pretty mysterious. Especially when it comes to his servitude to 'Regina', the 'Evil Queen'."
The comic book story was developed by Dan Thomsen, co-producer of the Vancouver-lensed fantasy TV series and co-written by Corinna Bechko. Besides Malavia, illustrations are by Vasilis Lolos, Mike Del Mundo and Mike Henderson.
"Shadow of the Queen" is set in 'Fairy Tale Land', with 'The Queen' taking the 'Huntsman' prisoner after he let 'Snow White' escape rather than kill her, as Regina requested. "The Evil Queen is still...

The connections between Marvel Comics and its sister divisions within Walt Disney continue to evolve. After the success of graphic novels tying in the quasi-related genre of ABC’s Castle, now the company is about to launch a graphic novel based on another ABC property, Once Upon a Time. It’s fully expected that in 2015, Marvel will once more publish Star Wars comics as the relationship between Lucasfilm, now a Disney vassal, and Dark Horse, comes to a conclusion. Should this continue, we can expect a continuing line of comics tied to other Disney properties, both film and television.

At the end of last year we got the first word on the beta for upcoming Arpg Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, and now Spicy Horse Studios and Dark Horse Comics have announced that this soon-to-be-released game will be expanding into comics.
From the Press Release:
From the brilliant minds behind video game auteur American McGee’s Spicy Horse Studios, Akaneiro mixes a foundation of Japanese folklore with an original mythology inspired by Red Riding Hood, yielding a fantastic and exciting setting for players to explore and perfectly setting the stage for the visual storytelling of comics. Written by Justin Aclin (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and illustrated by Vasilis Lolos (Conan the Barbarian), the comics follow Kani - a young woman torn between two cultures - on an epic adventure hunting devious Yokai and pursuing a destiny far greater than even she can perceive as a member of the fabled Order of Akane.

The comics universe will be raking in loads of frequent flyer miles over the next few months, as convention season is officially in gear for 2010. The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art's annual festival brought in a ton of talent in Manhattan over the weekend, and C2E2 is only a few days away in Chicago. The fact that both MoCCA posts I've retweeted reference Paul Pope is purely coincidental.
In other Twitter conversations, Brian Michael Bendis stirred up a storm of responses with his suggestion that "Australia" would have been better had Hugh Jackman just ported his Wolverine character over to the film. The comics tweets in my feed this morning were all about the artists, with a few bona fide all-stars showing up, including Todd McFarlane and Rob Liefeld, whose original artwork for the Image series "Mayhem" showed up in Tyrese Gibson's Twitterings. Greek artist Vasilis Lolos was also posting, dropping a few thoughts on the recently revealed "Wolverine" anime series.
"Goon" creator Eric Powell tweeted out a reminder about the upcoming anniversary of former "Flash" and "Fantastic Four" artist Mike Wieringo's unexpected death two years ago. A former convention circuit cornerstone, he'll likely be on the minds of many at Wizard's Chicago show this weekend, which I'm just going to assume caused most of the creators I follow to give up late-hour work tweets in favor of travel arrangements last night.
The quips, memories, and links to artwork are all below in the Twitter Report for August 6, 2009.

There were a lot of options this week for readers interested in comics with crossover appeal. Everything from adaptations of fan-favorite and cult-classic properties to the continuing adventures of popular superheroes with established big-screen presence. Here’s what looks good among the June 3 releases:
Top Of The Stack: “Batman And Robin” #1 (DC): If anything can wipe away the memory of Joel Schumacher’s unintentionally campy 1997 foray into the Bat-verse, it’s the superstar team of writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely. This is one of those rare occasions where I haven’t read the issue yet, but feel perfectly comfortable recommending it.
From “All-Star Superman” to “We3″ (one of my favorite stories put to page in the comics world), Morrison and Quitely have the magic touch that makes any book they collaborate on stand out from the rest. Can these perfect partners work that same magic with DC’s Dynamic Duo,...
