American publisher Bluewater Productions has this month released 40-page extended graphic novels of its sold-out Fame biography series. These have been expanded from the regular comic book editions released earlier.
"These biographies are a great way to get in new readers to the comic book marketplace," said publisher Darren G. Davis.
"They are do well with libraries and schools as well. Not only are they fun but also they are educational. As a kid that was a reluctant reader - comic books helped me get my reading skills in order. We hope to gain a new and different audience with these.
"We get letters from comic book fans who are parents and love these because they can share their hobby with their kids who are not always into superheroes.

Kim Kardashian may have next to no chance of playing Wonder Woman on the big or small screen, but you can't blame a girl for trying.
It was back in 2008 when the reality TV star hosted a Hollywood party and turned up in a Wonder Woman costume, no doubt in the hope of studio executives approaching her to play the superheroine.
With her Armenian heritage, the 31-year-old socialite would be suitable to portray an Amazon on those grounds at least. Greek mythology tells us the tribe of warrior women lived either in what is now Turkey or the Ukraine.
And now there's a new hint of Wonder Woman in the cover art for Kardashian's new comic book venture, which depicts her teasing a glimpse of the character's red and gold bustier.

Adele's personal life has been the fodder for much speculation since her Grammy-winning albums have chronicled her tumultuous love life and heartbreak. Now a new unauthorized biography by Marc Shapiro is claiming to have more details about the mystery man who was the subject of her debut album.
In "Adele: The Biography" Shapiro writes that the album "19" chronicles the singer's heartbreak when she made her romantic intentions known to a bisexual man and he then ran off with her close gay friend.
The UK's Daily Mail has an excerpt:
"One thing we know... Is that it was a first love gone terribly bad. Adele had professed her love and he did the same, she had known he was bisexual but, in the rush of romance, felt they could make it work. Four hours after laying their emotional cards on the table, the boy ran off with one of Adele's gay friends!

As Adele's singing career flourished, so did her drinking problem. "Midway through her first tour, she reportedly had a drinking problem," Shapiro says. Because of her broken relationship with her father, Adele, 24, searched for love and affection to fill that void. "She loved the drama surrounding boys who treated her badly," he explained. The military magazine Soldier of Fortune has teamed up with American comic book publisher Bluewater Productions to launch a new fictional adventure series called Soldier of Fortune Presents: Stealth.
With superhero soldiers such as Captain America and G.I. Joe making the leap from comics to the big screen - and a Sgt Rock adaptation also on the way - the two publishers hope to add to that long and distinguished legacy. And there's already talk of turning the comic into a TV series.
The new action-adventure comic, which is scheduled to debut in June, is written by best-selling author Marc Shapiro and drawn by Steven Black.
It centres on a fictional secret special ops team hired by the government to do the jobs that the military is unable to undertake, for practical or political reasons.
"Finally a real adventure graphic novel for real men," said Lt. Col. Robert K.

I think Roland Emmerich is trying to Kill Me.
Yes, yes, I do. Now, others have tried, mostly publicists now that I think of it, folks desperate for a TV series to be ballyhooed, a film covered or a book reviewed. But, usually, I could dissuade them by, well, totally ignoring their entreaties. Occasionally, I might have to send out the Starlog strike team of ninja killer assassins (six interns and a dwarf) to convince them by talking tough and insulting their pet baby ducks.
Emmerich is made of sterner stuff. Mere words can not rebuff the man my colleague Allan Dart has called “the modern master of disasters” (or somesuch term of endearment like that). Words mean Nothing to him! As clearly evidenced by some of the scripts Emmerich has co-written.
