In 1992, comic book writer and artist Todd McFarlane created a new superhero character called Spawn. Five years later, director Mark A.Z. Dippé and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy brought Spawn to the screen in a PG-13 rated movie that didn’t go over well with a lot of fans. There were rumblings of a sequel for years after that, but nothing ever happened. Back around 2005, McFarlane announced he was going to make sure a new Spawn movie was going to be made, even if he had to produce, direct, and finance it himself. For nearly twenty years, he has been slowly pushing that project forward… but there is some level of hope that we might finally see the new Spawn sometime in 2025, so we figured we should put together a list of Everything We Know About the Spawn Reboot.

It didn’t take long to see the problem after Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again paused production in mid-June during the writers strike. Fewer than half of the series’ 18 episodes had been shot, but it was enough for Marvel executives, including chief Kevin Feige, to review the footage and come away with a clear-eyed assessment: The show wasn’t working.
So, in late September, Marvel quietly let go of head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and also released the directors for the remainder of the season as part of a significant creative reboot of the series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The studio is now on the hunt for new writers and directors for the project, which stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer turned superhero.

Marvel Studios’ latest Disney+ series, ‘Secret Invasion,’ premiered on the streamer last June and aired for six episodes. Although the premise teased a more mature and grounded approach, similar to 2014’s acclaimed movie ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ the series was a disappointment due to its slow pacing, writing, and the simplification of the plot compared to the source material.
Another thing that fans disliked about the series was mishandling the new characters and the unjustified and pointless deaths of some fan-favorite characters. Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill, who was part of the MCU since 2012, and Ben Mendelsohn, who joined the franchise in 2019, didn’t survive to see the series’ last episode. Although these deaths could’ve been justified for the sake of the main villain’s character development, it turned out they really died for nothing, particularly Smulders’ character.

This article contains spoilers for the series finale of "Secret Invasion."
That's ... it?
In retrospect, I'm not sure there was really any other way a show as underhyped and underwhelming as "Secret Invasion" would come to a conclusion, despite common sense and comic books telling us that this story really should've amounted to much, much more than what we ultimately got. From the beginning, Marvel's latest Disney+ offering came with the implicit promise of paranoia thriller trappings, political intrigue, and all the potential in the world to take the classic sci-fi concept of enemies hiding among us in plain sight and put a superhero spin on it. But the forgettable series we received instead only served as a reminder that, much like Nick Fury himself, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has clearly lost a step since blasting right past its most logical stopping point, "Avengers: Endgame," and forging ahead in perpetuity with nary a break.

Los Angeles, June 27 (Ians) The espionage thriller series ‘Secret Invasion’ shows a newer version of former S.H.I.E.L.D director ‘Nick Fury’, who has finally gotten his own show. However, it is not at all pleasant because as the show explores more of Nick Fury’s character, his growing age is something that is heavily focused upon as characters, including his closest allies have not shied away from calling him out on his dustiness.
Speaking about the character,SamuelL.Jacksonsaid, “He’s older and he’s tired. He’s not sure of his footing anymore. He’s been sort of incognito and up there on S.A.B.E.R. for years, and it’s so long since he’s been in touch with people. He’s ghosted a lot of people, and so when they call him, he’s not coming back down to Earth super willingly.

The recently-released streaming series ‘Secret Invasion’ boasts of a subversive tone which is a trademark of Marvel. While describing the show, director Ali Selim said, “I think that the series has a really interesting subversive Marvel tone that takes it and flips it on its head, which I think will challenge, surprise and please the audience and give them something unique and different.”
Elaborating on the story, Ali said, “It goes back to Nick Fury. It’s the Nick story. And Nick is a human. Whatever we think about his trench coat and his eyepatch and how cool Sam Jackson is, Nick Fury is a human. He’s a human with a certain kind of power, but not a superpower like Captain America or Captain Marvel. So, that immediately demands a more grounded, gritty series.”

Disney+ has unveiled the first trailer for Marvel’s “Secret Invasion,” a six-episode limited series that brings the real Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since “Avengers: Endgame.”
“Fury, since you’ve been gone, things have gotten so much worse,” Skrull leader Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) says in the new teaser. Responds Fury, “Why do you think I came back?”
Fury and Talos have a history dating back to the events of “Captain Marvel,” when Fury promised Talos and the Skrulls he’d help the displaced, shapeshifting alien race to find a new home. The pair connected again, albeit in a clandestine fashion in “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” That film, which debuted just after “Avengers: Endgame,” featured a heavy dose of “Nick Fury,” but it wasn’t actually Nick Fury. 15 years after he launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the post-credits scene of “Iron Man,” Samuel L. Jackson will get to take center stage as Nick Fury in the upcoming Disney+ series “Secret Invasion,” which just released a new trailer on Sunday. Disney also announced that the show will premiere on June 21.
As MCU fans saw with “Captain Marvel” in 2019, Nick Fury has had an alien ally for decades in Talos (Ben Mendelson), the leader of a sect of aliens called Skrulls who have taken refuge on Earth after their homeworld was destroyed.
But as seen in the new trailer, that sect is becoming a threat thanks to rogue Skrull named Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir), who has formed his own group apart from Talos and believes the best way for the Skrulls to survive is to use their shapeshifting powers to infiltrate Earth’s government and take what they need.

As anticipation builds for new Marvel’s “Secret Invasion”, more information is emerging about the upcoming Disney+ series.
Starring Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders, “Secret Invasion” finds Fury heading a covert mission after discovering that shape-shifting Skrulls (the alien race introduced in “Captain Marvel”) have secretly infiltrated all levels of human society in plans of taking over the planet from within.
Also starring in the series are “Game of Thrones” alum and former “The Crown” star Olivia Colman, and a new feature on the show in Vanity Fair reveals they’ll be playing characters on opposite sides of the conflict.
Clarke plays G’iah, daughter of Skrull commander Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn. As Jackson pointed out, this isn’t the character’s first appearance in the MCU. “Remember when Ben was there with his wife and daughter?” Jackson said. “She’s the little Skrull girl grown up. She’s his daughter.

Warner Bros. is bringing back The Fugitive film franchise, having tapped a director in Albert Hughes.
The Fugitive is getting a remake movie, in which we’ll undoubtedly be reminded of the notion that the embattled Dr. Richard Kimble didn’t kill his wife – even if an obstinate U.S. Marshal doesn’t care.
Warner Bros. has appointed Albert Hughes to direct a new big screen adaptation of The Fugitive, reports Deadline. The movie will manifest as a remake of director Andrew Davis’s 1993 Harrison Ford-headlined film, which, itself, was a reboot of ABC’s 1963-1967 television series. Hughes will work off a script by Brian Tucker, who wrote the script to the director’s Mark Wahlberg/Russell Crowe 2013 crime drama, Broken City, and will also be joined by producer Erik Feig.

The studio intends on putting a new spin on the Andrew Davis-directed 1993 action classic, an exhilarating action film based on the 1963 TV series that starred David Janssen as Kimble and Barry Morse as Gerard. The film earned seven Oscar nominations including Best Picture, with Tommy Lee Jones winning for Best Supporting Actor for playing the dogged U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard, who chased Harrison Ford’s Dr. Richard Kimble. In danger of setting itself up for a fall with pun-happy critics if it doesn’t land well, a new action thriller with Adrien Brody attached as the lead comes bearing the title Expiration. And if the concept feels a tad familiar, that’s because it’s a spin on an idea that has been tackled before – the tough guy with a ticking time clock, last seen, in some version at least, with Kevin Costner and 3 Days To Kill. Expiration, which has a script from Broken City’s Brian Tucker, finds Brody as a rogue former CIA agent who has turned to the life of a hitman. Because that sort of career switch rarely works out well for anyone in film, he wakes up in hospital after a failed assassination attempt that was supposed to seal his retirement from his killer career with his veins pulsing in the grip of poison.

Cassavetes most recently helmed the Fox female-driven comedy The Other Woman, which grossed $194 million worldwide.

Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad ("Paradise Now," "Omar") has come onboard as director on the English-language remake of Chan-Wook Park's 2002 violent revenge classic "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" at Silver Reel, Lotus Entertainment, di Bonaventura Pictures and Cj Entertainment.
The original followed a deaf-mute man whose attempt to pay for his sister’s kidney transplant spawns a series of violent encounters. Brian Tucker ("Broken City") penned the script for the remake, while Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing.
The original film was the first of Park's vengeance trilogy, three standalone films that were linked thematically rather than narratively. The second was "Oldboy," which Spike Lee has since remade for release in November. A remake of the third one, "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance," is in development at Annapurna Pictures.

Allen Hughes takes on his first feature solo with Broken City, which has Mark Wahlberg as a private investigator hired by Myc Mayor Russell Crowe to investigate his wife, whom he suspects is having an affair.
The Hughes Brothers have made some interesting choices along the way, from the urban horror stories of Menace II Society to the dangerous back alleys of London in deepest Ripper country for the misguided adaptation of From Hell. It follows that Allen Hughes would look to another decaying landscape to set his next scene and Brian Tucker’s script revels in the corruption of New York City.
The film is due on DVD and Blu-ray on the 24th of June and we’ve got a deleted scene for you to enjoy.

Park Chan-wook's Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance is getting it's English language feature film remake. Three years ago Warner Bros. was looking to remake the film, which is part of Park’s South Korean film trilogy which also includes Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and Oldboy. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian were attached to produce the remake when the project was initially set up, and they are still attached. They've hired Broken City scribe Brian Tucker to write the script.
The movie tells a dark and twisted story of revenge that follows Ryu, a deaf man, and his sister, who requires a kidney transplant. Ryu ends up being laid off from his job, and in order to afford the transplant, Ryu and his girlfriend develop a plan to kidnap his bosses daughter. Things go horribly wrong, and the situation spirals rapidly into a cycle of violence and revenge.

Big-time *sshole Spike Lee is currently working on "Oldboy," a remake of Park Chan-wook's movie, which is part of a "Vengeance Trilogy" that also includes "Sympathy for Mr Vengeance" and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance." Three years ago, Warner Bros acquired rights to "Mr. Vengeance" and hired Brian Tucker (Broken City) to write the script. Since then, progress has been slow. But now comes word that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has boarded the project with plans of making it a priority.
