A Night To Remember
For any band, getting back together after the loss of a key member is a huge gamble. Some, like AC/DC, emerge from the tragic loss of a lead singer to reach the utmost peaks of rock stardom. Others are not so lucky. In any case, no band is ever the same after the loss of a lead singer.
And so, when I recently saw Sublime with Rome it is needless to say that I had mixed feelings about the whole thing - which I suppose I should explain. I began my love affair with Sublime at the age of 14. I thought Eric was so insanely cool that I even learned to play the bass guitar. I’d sit for hours trying to play along. In high school, among my group of friends, Sublime was always playing in the background whenever we hung out, or partied.

Just in time for the little ones to go back to school for another year of reading, writing and ‘ritmatic, comes another valuable DVD collection from those award winning producers of children’s entertainment and education, Scholastic Storybook Treasures. This particular collection, Adventures in School, won the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children’s Videos. Scholastic Storybook Treasures adapts beloved children’s books into animated form. They’ve translated the works of Rosemarie Wells and Doreen Cronin, as well as producing cartoon versions of favorite characters like Curious George. Adventures in School gives us 14 stories, spanning from Petunia (1950) to How Do Dinosaurs Go to School (2007). All these stories revolve around school and things young kids might need to know before starting their first, or latest, semester.

Dexter Morgan: America’s Serial Killing Sweetheart
Since it’s premiere in December 2007, the hit Showtime series Dexter has been immensely popular - and immensely controversial. I have no desire to debate the merits and drawbacks of viewers identifying with or even liking a character who is, in fact, a serial killer - but I feel I must address why Dexter and his Dark Passenger are so captivating to so many.
Many of the greatest characters of all time have been evil, murderous and generally horrific people. Though they may be fascinating, Hannibal Lecter and the Wicked Witch of the West are not the most relatable characters out there, and the same holds true for most villains in popular culture. Dexter however, minus the occasional slicing and dicing of evildoers, is very relatable to anybody who has ever felt less than comfortable in society. We are all guilty of faking...

Five Zombie Novels you Must read
We all love zombie movies, but what about zombie novels? For your reading pleasure, I have compiled a list of some great zombie novels that are definitely worth a read. After all, what says summer more than cracking open a warm brain cold beer and reading a great book by the pool?
5. The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks
A must read for any Zombie fan, this book is great for a number of reasons - though I should note that it is an actual survival guide. Even though you will usually find it in the humor section of your local bookstore, this was not the author’s intention. It is not a joke, and Max Brooks has though of everything from which weapons and equipment are most effective against the undead to the very particulars of how you should actually go about surviving a full-blown zombie invasion.

Give Us The Girly Men (And Nobody Gets Hurt)
It all began when a woman I know described Justin Bieber as “sexy”. Sure, I guess he’s a cute kid and all, but this just seemed wrong to me. How can a woman in her mid-thirties find a sixteen year old child “sexy”? I tried to let her comment slide, but found myself haunted by images of ‘The Biebs’ as he is lovingly referred to by his fans. How does a 16 year old boy from Ontario become an internationally worshipped and drooled over sex icon? Furthermore, why does it creep me out so much?
Granted, many of his fans are teenage girls, but how could this skinny little teen appeal to women with the likes of George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Josh Holloway equally available to receive their affections from afar? I have a theory which may surprise you.

Kill Shakespeare Interview: Anthony Del Col
Meet Anthony Del Col, writer & co-creator of Kill Shakespeare, a new comic from Idw which has been featured at Toronto Wizard Con, Comic Con and Wonder Con in San Francisco.
Kill Shakespeare is a daring new comic which follows Shakespeare’s most loved characters on a quest to kill a reclusive wizard… William Shakespeare himself. To view the official Idw trailer for Kill Shakespeare, click here. Follow these links for previews of Issue #1 and Issue #2.
Can you tell me a little about yourself and the team behind Kill Shakespeare? I understand you are the Shakespeare geek of the bunch.
It’s funny that I’ve been labeled the ‘Shakespeare geek’ while Conor is the ‘comic geek’ because we both trade off at various times (at this precise moment Conor is reading ‘Richard III’ while I’m going through the latest ‘Fables’ adventures). Conor and...

Musings Of A Game Store Clerk
I know it may seem harsh, but seeing a machine I waited in line for 9 hours to purchase collecting dust is just a little painful. It’s not like I haven’t tried to play it…but every time I look at my Wii (and yes, Wii jokes are still funny) I just end up angry. It’s not just me - nobody wants to play with the damn thing, and they haven’t for some time. Where have the family bowling tournaments gone? What happened to drunk Wii tennis? Why does the Wii suck so much?
Talking to other gamers, I’m finding that this is more and more the case with the Wii. So what’s the problem? What could Nintendo have done to make one if it’s biggest fans (me) reject it?
Too much crap - The Wii’s game library,...
