When you hear that D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are behind a series, you sit up and take notice. The recent Netflix drama 3 Body Problem had all the suspense and drama we've come to expect from the pair, as a team of scientists and a detective investigate the strange deaths of scientists around the world.
Based on the novel The Three Body Problem by Liu Cixin, the show scored 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and topped Netflix's global top 10 for 3 weeks. But with only 8 episodes, this uber-bingeable show has already come to an end for many fans.
The good news, a new K-drama landing on April 26th is the perfect show to stream if you loved 3 Body Problem and can't believe it hasn't been renewed for Season 2.
What would you do if there were only 200 days left until the apocalypse?
That is the question the citizens of Korea face in this heart-pounding show.

Kim Dong-ho, Kang Soo-youn “take responsibility” for recent events.
Busan International Film Festival (Biff) chairman Kim Dong-ho and festival director Kang Soo-youn have announced they will resign after this year’s edition wraps on October 21.
In a joint statement sent out to the press today, they said they decided to “take responsibility for the recent series of events and resign”.
Their announcement follows yesterday’s open letter from Biff executive staff criticising the duo and asking for ousted festival director Lee Yong-kwan to return.
Similar criticisms have been made during on-going local discussions about Biff’s future – including a forum held June 22 in the National Assembly Members’ office building in Seoul – along with calls for Busan mayor Suh Byung-soo to apologise for his role in manipulating the organisation and for Lee’s “honor to be restored”.
When contacted by Screendaily, Lee Yong-kwan said it is too early for him to comment.

The Kang War continues with this trip through the timestream, as the Avengers hope to deliver baby Kang to his original time to prevent their own child selves from being wiped out. It’s somewhat complicated and we jump in right in the middle of it. As a result, there’s a heavy amount of exposition in this newest issue, but Mark Waid is a good enough writer to make it work.
My only real gripe with the storytelling is that you would think this group would have learned their lesson from Age of Ultron. This is a different story, structurally, but hits many of the same beats. It’s still following the same trope of going back in time to punish someone before they’ve committed a disastrous crime. This is the classic “would you kill Adolph Hitler as a child?” idea, only this version features many Kangs.

“Assassination” was the highest grossing film in 2015 and the eighth all-time highest grossing film in Korean cinema.
The film is set during the Japanese occupation of the country in the 1930s, and tells the tale of a team of resistance fighters.
A sniper named Ahn Ok- yun, a gun smuggler and graduate of the Independence Military School named Sok-sapo, and explosives specialist Hwang Deok-sam are tasked with the assassination of the governor of Gyeongseong and Kang In-gook, a Korean mogul who is pro-Japanese.
However, Yeom Seok-jin, who is supposedly a comrade, seems to have ties with the enemy, and employs two contract killers, Hawaii Pistol and Younggam to deal with the aforementioned. Things become even more complicated when Ahn Ok-yun‘s twin sister appears.
Choi Dong-hoon tried to infuse a genuine action film with depth, by using historic settings and some thriller elements.

For Halloween, we celebrate The Simpsons' best Treehouse Of Horror stories, feat. zombies, Hitchcock and Kubrick spoofs and more...
“Nothing seems to bother my kids but tonight's show, which I totally wash my hands of, is really scary.”
For anyone who grew up watching The Simpsons, the Treehouse Of Horror Halloween specials are an annual horror staple, from spooky couch gag to horror-themed credits. You can learn an awful lot of things just from watching the show, but for younger audiences, these episodes gave us our introduction to certain iconic horror stories.
Having ditched the early framing device of the family telling scary stories to one another, with Springfielders cast in key roles, the format is now closer to a mini-anthology of terror with three stories that take place outside of canon. This has usually given the writers licence to be more gruesome and outlandish than in the regular series,...

Even as it was earning the Best Animated feature accolade from the Boston Film Critics Society over the weekend, The Wind Rises continued to be dogged by the same controversy which has trailed it since its release back in Japan. Specifically, what animator Miyazaki Hayao is calling his final film is being challenged as doing some excessive flag-waving for WWII Japan or not being patriotic enough according to some netizens back in the director's native country. Consider Village Voice critic Inkoo Kang in the former camp, calling Miyazaki's lyrical drama about the engineer of the Zero bomber as "morally repugnant." Some choice quotes from Kang: The Japanese Imperial Army killed 30 million people -- a fact that is barely alluded to by the film. As...

Why do I love Captain James T. Kirk so much? His leadership skills? Is it his tactical genius or his love of history? It could be the self-developed double hammer-fist, judo-flipping, flying drop-kick style of martial arts? What about his way with the ladies? Granted, that last one would be pretty much worth all of them put together, but that would make me a pretty shallow person and end anybody’s interest in reading this article all together. So let’s not explore that option too much.
But there are a number of other heroic qualities about Kirk that make him a compelling character. For one thing, there’s his loyalty. Kirk is always the first member of a landing party. Granted, that’s more of a story device than a tactical decision. But what makes a great story is an unbeatable hero, rushing into a fray to confront the enemy.

Michael Ansara, an actor who had a busy career in TV and movies for 55 years, has died at the age of 91. The tall, deep-voiced, Syrian-born Ansara was cast as a wide array of Native Americans, Arabs, Mexicans, and other exotic types, though he was perhaps best known for playing the legendary Klingon warrior and diplomat Kang in episodes of three different series in the Star Trek franchise. In the mid-‘40s and well into the ‘50s, Ansara made flyspeck appearances, often uncredited, in several films, including South Sea Sinner (1950), Soldiers Three (1951), My Favorite Spy (1951), the ...

He became a name to watch with the low budget film Saw in 2004 and his two follow-up films, Dead Silence and Death Sentence, didn't exactly light the world on fire though the latter seemed to have its admirers. Then, in 2010, James Wan's Insidious made $97 million worldwide on a budget of only $1.5 million. This year he returns to theaters with The Conjuring at Warner Bros. in July and Insidious: Chapter 2 will also hit theaters this September. What's a horror director with a burgeoning career to do next...? Direct Fast and Furious 7? That's exactly what's happening as Deadline reports Universal Pictures has begun negotiations with Wan to direct the seventh film in the franchise, which continues with Fast & Furious 6 on May 24. It was announced only days ago Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast 6 director Justin Lin would not be returning for Fast 7 and he has already given Wan his endorsement.

Written by Alessandro Camon and directed by Hill, the movie is based on Alexis Nolent‘s French graphic novel, which follows the story of a New Orleans hitman and a DC cop who form an alliance to bring down the killers of their respective partners.

Sylvester Stallone is showing he doesn’t need a team of mercenaries to still kick butt in the new UK trailer for Bullet to the Head.
He’s reaching the point where he can be considered older than dirt but Sly still knows what works for him on the big screen – witty one-liners delivered while cracking skulls and blowing stuff up. Of course, the box office requires new blood to get the young and hip crowd into theaters so Stallone’s hitman is squaring off against Jason Momoa, who seems to prefer sharp edges over bullets when things get serious.
Stallone fits naturally in the role of a hitman determined to rescue his daughter from thugs, and why shouldn’t he? It’s a trope that just about every action movie from the 80′s revolved around. Sometimes, it was a retired hitman, sometimes it was a cop, and sometimes it was a kick-ass soldier.

Sylvester Stallone hits the big screen this weekend with the sequel to his modest 2010 hit, The Expendables, but he’s not resting on those highfalutin laurels. The trailer has just dropped for his next movie, Bullet To the Head, and it looks as lazy as Stallone speaks. The film is Walter Hill‘s return to theaters after a ten year absence and follows a hit man (Stallone) and a cop (Sung Kang) who join forces to take down the barbarian (Jason Momoa) responsible for killing their respective partners. The goal appears to have been to make a far less funny 48 Hours, and they just may have succeeded. So yeah, they aimed for Another 48 Hours. Check out the trailer below, and weep at its lack of ambition. Could this have been made in the 90s? Yes. Is that a compliment? No. It’s possible this just looks more underwhelming than it is because it follows the hugely enjoyable...

“Be my Guest” (a.k.a. “Excuse Me”) is an indie Korean outing perhaps best described as a slasher comedy, a wild and wacky slice of gory slapstick and demented family values which premiered at the 2009 Pusan Film Festival. The film was written and directed by Park Soo Young, who recently also helmed the child abuse themed murder mystery “No Doubt”, and sees him reteaming with actor Kim Byung Chun (“Paradise Murdered”) and actress Lee Hyun Jung, with a cast that also includes Kyoung Young (recently in the Korean “A Better Tomorrow” remake), Kim Kkot Bi (“Breathless”), Kang In Hyung (“Thirsty, Thirsty”), Kim Jin Soo (“Life is Cool”) and Park Yeong Seo (“Scandal Makers”). The fun kicks off with Company president Uhm (Kim Byung Chun) taking his family and brother on a trip to their cottage in the country. Their bickering is cut short when a disgruntled former employed called...
