Richie Fitzgerald is Ireland's first pro surfer. He competed at both European and World Championship level, and was the first European invited to the world's most prestigious big-wave event, the Eddie Aiku Invitational in Hawaii. In 2011, he won the Irish Masters tour and reached the Semi Final's in 2011 Eurosurf Masters event.
Raised in Bundoran, Co. Donegal, he was the founder of Ireland's first and largest surf shop, Surfworld
Richie is a Irish Big Wave Surfer. He is credited as one of the pioneers of Irish big wave surfing at Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo and "Prowlers" off the north west coast.
