Industrial metal band Static-x have released the new song “Stay Alive.” The track appears on the band’s upcoming Project Regeneration: Vol. 2 album and features vocals from late frontman Wayne Static.
“Stay Alive” is one of the final original songs Wayne was working on before his passing. In fact, in a release, the group’s former sound engineer Eddie Ortel says, “Wayne was working on this track the night that he passed away.”
An accompanying music video can be disturbing to some, as it features unreleased footage from Wayne’s “Assassins of Youth” video that shows him engaging in drug use that would eventually lead to his early death. Wayne passed away on November 1st, 2014, at the age of 48.
In the song, Wayne sings of the hardships of being a “professional addict” with the cry, “I just need you to survive! Cut you up to stay alive!” Along with Wayne on lead vocals,...

On today’s episode of Crew Call we talk with The Mandalorian EP and director of season 3 episodes one, seven and eight, Rick Famuyiwa.
Like the Westerns that Star Wars itself is based on, season 3 continued to dwell in that genre as it focused on Bounty Hunter Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) unification with the Mandalorians. Of note here is the redemption of the tribe’s former leader Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff). Famuyiwa says we see “what she lost and what she’s gained, in terms of the trust from her people and her own leadership.”
(L-r): A Bartender Droid (Seth Gabel), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal)
Famuyiwa explains that just as “Westerns started to grow and go beyond their rugged individualism to how we make a society work” so does The Mandalorian in season 3.

A slow-motion panic attack in movie form, “The Young Wife” swirls around the hopes and doubts of a young woman (a radiant Kiersey Clemons) on the day of her “non-wedding.” It’s not a moment of matrimony, nor is it quite a commitment ceremony, but instead a day-long party, a celebration of the love between Celestina and her wishy-washy boyfriend River (Leon Bridges), who’s hours late. Set 10 years in the future and imbued with an ineffably otherworldly glow that almost makes you feel like you’ve been planted on another planet, “The Young Wife” is , and one with plenty of spiky characters and admirable visuals to pluck from.
The director is Tayarisha Poe, who made waves at Sundance in 2019 for her confidently directed feature debut “Selah and the Spades,” a deftly choreographed ensemble piece about the underground factions of a fictional boarding school. Here, with “The Young Wife,” Poe...

When one door to the multiverse closed, another one opened to a galaxy far, far away.
Following the critical acclaim of his 2015 film, Dope, filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa found himself in the Dceu, developing The Flash, the same Flash movie that is about to come out after first being announced in October 2014. Famuyiwa would ultimately depart the project in the fall of 2016 due to creative differences, and the L.A. native went on to develop other projects until The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau reached out for a meeting. Famuyiwa and Favreau quickly hit it off, and the former not only directed three episodes across the first two seasons of the hit Disney+ series, but he also wrote a couple as well.
To this day, Famuyiwa still can’t believe that his filmography of coming-of-age dramedies and romantic comedies would spark the interest of Favreau.

What do you do when you run into an ex from a decade ago? Well, if you’re Alison Brie in “Somebody I Used to Know,” you attempt hiding in your restaurant booth. If and when that fails, you mostly just have to hope that, if you hit it off again, they aren’t engaged to be married.
Unfortunately, in the case of Ally (Brie), that ex is definitely engaged even though they definitely hit it off again. In the first trailer for the upcoming Prime Video film, Ally returns to her hometown, where she almost immediately runs into Sean (Jay Ellis). Their lingering chemistry becomes apparent very quickly, and Sean admits that “I still think about what would’ve happened if you hadn’t left all those years ago.”

Mabel Mora certainly knows how to put a puzzle together.
On Only Murders In the Building Season 2 Episode 9, several reveals (some more shocking than others) come into play, setting up the endgame of this season's mysteries.
Let's pick our jaws up off the floor and take a look at the evidence.
Michael Rapaport plays Detective Kreps as the typical New York cop. Rapaport is a great casting choice -- this is solidly in his lane. His monologues feel authentic, 100 New York.
He's jaded, a little dirty, crooked, scrappy, and lives in the Bronx because that's the only place he can afford on a cop's salary, even with supplemental income. He's like the anti-Brazzos.
That supplemental income is a vital part of the mystery, though just how much it will figure remains to be seen. As the Glitter Guy, he was the one picking up the evidence from Morningside Park.

This year marks 20 years since the debut of Daria, the MTV series about a bespectacled, combat boot-wearing misfit whose defining trait was, on the surface, a deep disdain for those around her. In the years since viewers were first introduced to Daria Morgendorffer, she's become a heroine of sorts for many who saw (or still see) themselves as outsiders – particularly women – for whom mainstream depictions of non-traditional characters were, at the time, few and far between. (Cher from Clueless and the Spice Girls weren't exactly relatable if you were a weird girl in the 1990s.
