The unholy union of rock music and horror is alive and well in Art of a Hit, a psychological horror movie set to begin production soon according to Deadline.
Formerly titled Excelsis, Art of a Hit is set in 2003 and “follows a bygone rock band as they journey to a 1000-year-old French chateau to record with a reclusive super-producer in hopes of rebooting their career. But as tensions rise and tempers flare, they realize they are up against more than just the pressure to succeed.”
Deadline reports that “Indie rock pioneer Adam Lasus is music directing the ’90s alternative-heavy soundtrack alongside music supervisor Linda Cohen (Licorice Pizza).”
That exciting tidbit not only highlights that music will be prominent to this rock horror story, but it’s 2003 eschews the conventional ’80s hair metal movement frequently explored in this niche subgenre. I suppose the real question at this point is just how...

There are few show cancellations that get me as riled up as the sad case of Fox's Pitch. The baseball drama - which is now streaming on Hulu - had everything you could want in a series about the first female player in Major League Baseball: Dan Fogelman behind the scenes, Kylie Bunbury leading an all-star cast that includes Mark-Paul Gosselaar rocking the sexiest beard to grace television, and actual, true-blue, potential. A series with a Black female lead that explores the world of sports and how it deals with sexism, ageism, racism, and even mental health? That's what we call a freaking jackpot, folks!
At this point, you're probably wondering how a series that sounds so great on paper gets cancelled after its freshman season. Despite general acclaim from fans and experts alike, Pitch suffered from a frustrating lack of promotion from its network and low ratings.

In May 2019, the peacock network renewed this Tuesday night program for seasons four, five and six, taking This Is Us through the 2021-22 season. While there seems to be very little chance that those plans will be cancelled, we'll still keep an eye on the ratings. Stay tuned.

When “This Is Us” returns to NBC for its fourth season, the ensemble will be growing significantly.
Joining the cast in various capacities still to be announced are “When They See Us” stars Asante Blackk and Marsha Stephanie Blake, as well as Omar Epps, Bahara Golestani, Jennifer Morrison, Timothy Omundson, director M. Night Shyamalan, Julian Silva, Auden Thornton and Nick Wechsler.
These castings were announced via a trailer for the season that NBC dropped Saturday. In it, Mandy Moore’s character, matriarch Rebecca Pearson notes how strange it is that “just like that a complete stranger can become such a big part of your story.”
From there, the trailer offers glimpses of some of these new characters, including Morrison as a member of the armed services, Epps as a mechanic and Thornton as a waitress, with Rebecca commenting that “it’s actually kind of terrifying” how “a single cross with...

Last year Sterling K. Brown went on an awards sweep for NBC’s “This Is Us,” taking home the Emmy, SAG Award and Golden Globe for his role as family man Randall Pearson. With the Golden Globe nominations just around the corner, Brown is predicted to hear his name called again for Best TV Drama Actor, but he’ll likely be joined this year by co-star Milo Ventimiglia. Amazing, Ventimiglia has yet to be recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association despite starring in everything from “Gilmore Girls” to “Heroes.” Might this finally be his year?

Tim Jo is set to recur throughout season three of NBC’s hit drama This Is Us as Jae-Won.
Jo first appeared on the October 30 episode titled “Kamsahamnida” where he confronted Randall (Sterling K. Brown) for using the Korean community in his neighborhood as a political scheme to get votes for his campaign. After hashing it out, the two ended up developing a rapport and at the end of the episode, Jae-Won became his campaign manager. No further details were given about the future of his character, but he will appear in future episodes during the third season of the Emmy-winning NBC drama.
The Korean term “kamsahamnida” translates to “thank you” and is the only Korean word Randall knows. The episode ended up being a turning point for Brown’s character and incorporated the Asian American actor into the diverse narrative of This Is Us.

When Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger moved into their new office at the start of the second season of NBC’s “This Is Us,” they brought in furniture conducive to their individual work styles. “I love sitting at a desk and Elizabeth almost never does,” says Aptaker. “She’s always on the couch with her laptop, and I sit at this massive desk by myself.” They also filled the space with mementos to “make it [somewhere] we want to be,” Berger adds. After all, working on the 18-episode family drama has them spending as much, if not more, time there than in their respective homes.
Origin Story
Aptaker and Berger met in a dramatic writing class during their freshman year at NYU and quickly bonded over each other’s work, Berger says. They received a grant to make a pilot, which they shot at the East Village walk-up they also shared.

If only a show could believe in the shtick it has, and not decide that it not only needs two, but needs one to be a clever twist. Pitch has enough going on without throwing out a last-minute zinger. Worse, the show doesn’t need it, it doesn’t help anything, and it runs the risk of leaving a bad taste in your mouth. I’m tempted to tell you the point at which you should stop watching, and await the next episode.
As I said, Pitch has enough going on, and somewhat surprisingly, what with the overblown cliches that are tricky to avoid, it’s a refreshing joyride. It may seem like damning with faint praise, but the show’s best attribute is just that it adeptly dodges turning into something laughable. That isn’t because it’s doing anything wrong, but because the subject matter simply means that...
