Plot: John Sugar is an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried.
Review: Detective stories and noir films are iconic genres in film and literature. Who doesn’t love a grizzled private eye who saves the girl and beds the femme fatale? From The Maltese Falcon to Chinatown, detectives have a long and storied history on screen. With the new series Sugar, Colin Farrell adds another great character to the list. A suave, calm, and skilled investigator, John Sugar is an idealized hero straight off the silver screen. And, like any number of great cinematic detectives, he has a weakness. Having seen the full eight episodes of Sugar, audiences will love or hate John Sugar’s weakness,...

Colin Farrell headlines detective drama Sugar for Apple TV+, and the first trailer has landed: more on it here.
Colin Farrell hasn’t been on our screens for a couple of years, after a barnstorming 2022 saw him reunite with Brendan Gleeson and writer and director Michael McDonagh for bleak comedy The Banshees Of Inisherin, don prosthetics to become unrecognizable as The Penguin opposite Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and star alongside Viggo Mortensen and Joel Edgerton in Ron Howard’s survival drama Thirteen Lives.
He now takes a rare television role, leading the cast of Sugar, a detective drama, for Apple TV+. The synopsis reads as follows:
Sugar is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture and television history: the private detective story. Oscar nominee Colin Farrell stars as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels...

“Hunters” Season 2 is getting the band back together to chase down the infamous Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, who is hiding out in South America. The Prime Video series, which just released its first teaser trailer, will premiere its second and final season on Jan. 13.
After an accident derails the group’s exploits in Europe, the Hunters must seek out Hitler’s covert hideout. Season 1, which premiered back in February 2020, saw the inception of the Hunters in 1977 New York City, whose aim is to kill the high-ranking Nazi officials covertly living in the country and who are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S.

You know his face. You know his characters. But, do you know the actor himself? Joshua Malina is not a newcomer in Hollywood, but it seems that so very few people know much about the iconic actor. He’s probably best known for his role as Will Bailey on “The West Wing,” but he’s also really made his mark also playing the role of “David Rosen,” on Scandal. He’s been in some of the biggest shows on television, and he’s never going to be someone fans are sad to see on the screen. He’s more than good at what he does,

Here is a wrap up of all the news you need to know from Thursday, May 7, 2020.
NBC's The Blacklist has a new series regular for Season 8.
The hit drama has promoted Laura Sohn, who recurs as FBI Agent Alina Park.
TV Line first reported the news.
Sohn arrived on The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 7, and took over the job left by the exit of Mozhan Marno's Samar.
Alina quickly became a fan-favorite, and we're sure she will continue to make a big impact on Season 8.
The series was forced to shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic, with multiple episodes unproduced.
In order to bring the season to a close, the episode will feature a mix of live-action and animated scenes.
Yes, really.
It will certainly make for a different kind of finale.
Meanwhile, Apple TV+ drama Defending Jacob is set to introduce a key recurring player this week in J.K. Simmons.

It’s called “Peak TV” for a reason. And now that season finales are airing, a crescendo of unpredictable story beats are keeping fans enthralled and, in some instances, filled with rage. TheWrap has rounded up some of the best, most surprising and shocking finales to air this season so far. Beware of major spoilers ahead!
“The Walking Dead”
The aptly titled Season 8 finale to “The Walking Dead,” “Wrath,” finally pitted Rick vs. Negan in a showdown that the whole season had been building towards in All Out War’s final moment. Negan checked his gun the episode prior, but Eugene’s faulty bullets backfired on him none the less. And even though his throat got slashed, Rick spares Negan’s life. It may not be the biggest shock since it’s how it plays out in the comics, but it is a nice nod to Carl’s dying wish.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Over a Cliff,” the series finale of “Scandal.”
While “Scandal” fans said goodbye to Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and the rest of the gladiators during the season finale Thursday night, there was one character whose goodbye was literal — suffering a gruesome ending before the final credits rolled.
David Rosen, portrayed by Joshua Malina for the show’s seven-season run, was deceived, poisoned, and ultimately suffocated to death by underhanded vice president Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry). David’s death came a few scenes after he convinced Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) not to shoot him, catching the audience off-guard.
Malina said when he first saw that he had a missed call about discussing the series-ender from creator Shonda Rhimes, he went through multiple scenarios in his mind. “Maybe it’s because Shonda’s got more work for me,” he tells Variety he jokingly thought.

The following story contains massive spoilers from Scandal‘s series finale — proceed at your own peril!
In the end, David Rosen fell short of the finish line. Joshua Malina‘s Abby-loving Ag was poisoned to death by Cyrus in Thursday’s Scandal swan song. He was, rather surprisingly, the show’s only major series-finale fatality — a distinction we have a hunch his hilariously egomaniacal portrayer will interpret as the sincerest form of Shonda Rhimes-induced flattery. But we didn’t want to assume. So we asked Malina ourselves in a phone interview conducted Friday evening.

(Spoiler alert: Please do not read ahead unless you have seen the “Scandal” series finale that aired on Thursday.)
“Scandal” wrapped its seven-season run on Thursday night with a final episode that packed in fierce outfits, killer monologues and the most tragic death in the history of the series (Rip David Rosen). It also gave us a Shonda Rhimes’ cliffhanger that probably made more than one Gladiator knock over their glass of red wine in shock.
And we’re sure if you saw the finale you already know we’re talking about that “Yas Queen!”-enducing painting of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) two young girls see hanging in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. You know, something that suggests she eventually becomes President Of The United States.

Following the episode, Rhimes, Washington and the rest of the cast sat down on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to discuss the ending, and of course that moment came up.
When the late-night host asked Washington what she thinks the portrait is doing there, she nervously answered: “Gosh, I really want Shonda to answer this question. Because even in the script it’s written that we don’t know exactly why.”
Rhimes jumped in to say: “It says the audience is left not knowing.” But, of course, the showrunner revealed she actually knows what’s up, adding, “I get one last thing to say as a spoiler that I’m going to hold onto for the rest of my life.”

Well, that sounds par for the course for, Rhimes.
However, that’s Ok, because Scott Foley, who plays Liv’s sometimes lover (other times brother) Jake Ballard, told TheWrap in an interview last week that the seventh and final season of “Scandal” would come to a close with an ending he wants you to make your own. And we’re 99.9 percent sure that portrait of Olivia is what he was referencing.
“Now there is one thing that is sort of ambiguous at the very end of the show and it’s going to leave people questioning, ‘Did this happen? Did that happen? I don’t quite get it.’ And I think it’s important to make it your own,” Foley said of the episode — titled, “Over a Cliff.” “And there’s going to be questions and disagreements and ‘It couldn’t be. Here’s why’ or ‘It has to be. Here’s why.'”

“But I think it’s important for the viewer, when that happens, and they see the moment that I’m talking about, to make it personal to them. And I know this is sounding very ethereal, and forgive me for that. But there is an opportunity there for it to have whatever you want it to have,” he added.

Cyrus Beene, you almost got what you deserved. If, like us, you watched the Scandal series finale last night and thought ol' Cy (Jeff Perry) got off just a tad too easy for his many, many crimes, including the dastardly murder of poor David Rosen (Josh Malina) in a last-ditch effort to oust Mellie (Bellamy Young) from the Oval so he could snatch the presidency for himself, we have some slightly good news to report. While the villainous Veep only wound up out of job and seriously mentally unstable, when the cast and creators gathered for a live table read of the uncut series finale script on Thursday, April 19, it was revealed that the intention was to make Cyrus pay with his...

You think you’re pretty clever, don’t you, Josh Malina? Well, the jokes on you for the very first time, thanks to an elaborate hoax the cast of “Scandal” threw their notorious prankster co-star into — thanks to a little help from Jimmy Kimmel.
When the Shondaland show’s cast appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” following the series finale on Thursday, the host rolled tape of the revenge he helped Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and Associates pull off on the actor, who plays David Rosen — and is known for being more than a bit of a troublemaker on set.
Kimmel set up Malina to think he and co-star Katie Lowes (who plays Quinn Perkins) were going to surprise a family watching “Scandal,” but little did he know they were actually actors. And he was about to give an elderly woman a “heart attack” by popping a very loud canister of confetti.

The resulting scene is both horrifying and hilarious — as we know that Nana will be Ok, but Malina didn’t. He bends down by her side as they and says, “It was supposed to be a nice surprise, not a horrible surprise!” and wonders why no one told them about her heart condition.
Then, Kimmel comes in with Guillermo Rodriguez and Malina knows what’s up. “That’s the worst thing that anyone has ever done to me! That is the worst that anyone has ever done to anybody!” he says.
Well, thinking he may have killed someone is hopefully enough retribution for all the ways he’s messed with his castmates over the years. Maybe.

Fans of the major casualty in Scandal‘s series finale can take comfort in the fact that his tragic death was avenged.
Midway through the ABC drama’s very final episode on Thursday night, VP Cyrus Beene met with David Rosen (he’s the Attorney General of the United States, Fyi) just before B613 and its sympathizers would be held feet to flame, in a Senate hearing. Scandal came to a dramatic conclusion Thursday night on ABC, but the real fun occurred after the episode aired with the cast and crew appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The big talking point, of course, was Scandal Season 7 Episode 18, which served as the series finale of the sudsy political thriller.
But the sit down with the cast and crew also gave everyone one last time to talk about Joshua Malina who played David Rosen.
Over the years, he played some epic pranks on the cast, and well, some of them did not like having to put up with it.
So, Jimmy Kimmel drafted in Malina's co-star, Katie Lowes and tasked the pair with visiting a family of Scandal fans.
Malina was under the impression the segment was for Good Morning America and that it was to surprise the fans who were watching a recent episode.

The Scandal series finale wasn't the bloody affair it could've been. For the most part, Scandal ended on a happy note with the most hardened villains defeated and the heroes, or at least kind of heroes, getting their happily ever after. Yet the finale wasn't kind to everyone. David Rosen, who was the last true beacon of morality and justice on Scandal, was killed in the series finale. It was a twist that needed to happen, in the eyes of the cast and crew of Scandal.

[Editor’s note: This review contains spoilers for “Scandal” Season 7, Episode 18, “Over a Cliff”]
Pour out a bottle of Bordeaux for Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), her friends, and her enemies, as Thursday night brought their story to a close. “Over a Cliff” did its best to wrap up major emotional arcs, serve (at least one of) the bad guys official justice, and establish that in the most powerful town in America, Olivia had earned her place at the top.
What has always appealed to this non-“Grey’s Anatomy” fan about “Scandal” was that while both Shonda Rhimes-created series exist in their own heightened realities, the tone was more compatible with “Scandal’s” similarity to paperback thrillers than “Grey’s” similarity to a more soapy version of “E.R.”
The first season of “Scandal,” when you revisit it, remains a tight, compelling political drama that mixed cases-of-the-week with an ever-growing conspiracy; Season 2 cemented its status as unskippable TV.

We spent a lot of the past few days speculating about how Scandal would end. While we made a lot of jokes about jam-making and sun-standing, most of our speculations ended with everyone in jail, because after all, most of them deserve it—even Charlie (George Newbern), who for some reason was the whole reason behind this plan for everyone to testify. We expected something less happy, at least. But for the most part, that was just about the best way that could have ended for almost everyone. We got a wedding, an impassioned speech about being the bitch, a major death...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Over a Cliff,” the series finale of “Scandal.”
White hats, character deaths, Papa Pope monologues and a boatload of hootch, ABC’s “Scandal” wrapped its seven-season run Thursday night with an hour-long episode featuring the final showdown between the Opa associates and B613, with several callbacks to poignant moments throughout the show’s run.
“Over a Cliff” started off with a bang, literally, with Lonnie Mencken (Michael O’Neill) calling upon Olivia (Kerry Washington) for a late night meeting, in which he promised to get a senate committee hearing in exchange for her promise that gun control would skyrocket to the top of President Mellie Grant’s (Bellamy Young) agenda. With the promise secured, Lonnie then shot himself, setting the characters off on a whirlwind of testimonies and a high-stakes chase against Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) and Cyrus Bean...

In ABC’s “Scandal,” which airs its final episode April 19, some of the best-tailored and most conservatively dressed people on TV engage in some of TV’s most outrageous behavior as they navigate the charged political climate of the nation’s capital.
Credit for the show’s reserved garments, which contrast sharply with the personalities who wear them, goes to costume designer Lyn Paolo, a go-to artisan for showrunner Shonda Rhimes. (The two have also collaborated on “How to Get Away With Murder” and “For the People.”)
From “Scandal” star Kerry Washington’s initial fitting with Paolo, lead actress and costume designer were on the same page: Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, would be a glass ceiling-shattering heroine from the moment she opened her closet. She would be successful enough to afford Armani, Prada and, in a nod to Paolo’s native England, a Burberry trench.

“Scandal” is known for being … scandalous (duh), but the show wouldn’t have its notoriety for being so without its shady characters. So we’ve got the definitive ranking of how shady all the main characters of “Scandal” really are.
Eli Pope
Poppa Pope Is Shady Af!!!
There’s really nothing we can say that will exemplify how shady Eli Pope is. Combine all the manipulative characters into one and you’d probably get a third of how truly twisted Daddy Pope is.
Other than being the head of B613 for over 20 years (as if that doesn’t mess you up for life enough), he’s just a very mean person.
Cyrus Beene
If it wasn’t for Olivia’s dad taking the cake, Cyrus would probably be right up there as the shadiest character.
As innocent as he looks, there’s honestly very little we can trust about him. Cyrus will literally do whatever it takes to get what he wants — like have his own husband killed (although thankfully that was stopped at the last minute).
Abby Whelan
Abby definitely has her shady moments, she isn’t the worst of the bunch — rather no where close.
Although she’s stolen some things and manipulated certain situations, its Abby’s persistence that gets her what she wants.
Mellie Grant
We have a love-hate relationship with Mellie. At first, we hated her but honestly how can you hate a woman scorned?!
She’s dealt with her husband’s affair in such a civil and professional manner, but of course we can’t forget that she did so in order to advance her own political agenda.
Let’s not get it twisted, Mellie cannot be trusted but we can definitely have a drink with her and an impromptu dance party without worrying about her killing us.
Olivia Pope
Do we really have to break this one down at all? Ok, fine.
The only thing that differentiate’s Olivia from her dad is her humanity. Yes, Olivia is a “gladiator,” and helps people fix things, but let’s not get it twisted … in the process of “fixing” things she does some pretty questionable things.
She’s not entirely evil, but she’s like the manipulative best friend. You don’t know if she’s coming to your wedding bearing gifts or to dismantle your marriage.
Fitz Grant
We don’t really know how we feel about Fitz.
He mostly seems to be in la la land and oblivious about all the dirty things going on around him and when he finds out, he’s upset but doesn’t really do much about them.
Oh, we almost forgot — he’s an adulterer-er. Anyways, Fitz isn’t a very shady person at all. The worst thing he probably did was put an entire country in danger and go to war over his mistress, but hey, which one of us wouldn’t?
Huck
Oh sweet, angry, adorable, animalistic Huck. We feel sorry for Huck and absolve him of all his shady crimes.
He got turned into the person he is because of B613 and Olivia’s dad, but Huck is one loyal friend.
He only gets his hands dirty for the people he loves and cares deeply about, so he’s good in our book.
Jake Ballard
Jake … he is the definition of shady. This dude got introduced to us as a sweet, handsome, caring, gentle and just all-around good guy and then we find out it was all part of a game plan.
As if that part didn’t bring back traumatic memories of men we’ve dated in the past, Jake just continues to be untrustworthy.
We never know if his actions are genuine or influenced by Olivia’s dad. At least one thing we can be sure of — his love for Olivia.
Quinn Perkins
Well you had us fooled, Quinn!!! If that’s even your real name — which it isn’t.
It was a mistake to have her train with Huck because in a moment’s time she became just like him. But she’s a little shadier than Huck.
David Rosen
So David is one of the few people that actually is as kind as he comes off.
He’s the Attorney General, so naturally he tries to do the right thing even if it does mean exposing Olivia Pope and her little shenanigans, but once in a blue moon he will dibble and dabble on the dark side.
But it’s never really for his benefit, mostly just to save face and protect his friends.

On this episode of the Comic Concierge, I speak with David Rosen from the Bird Road and Piecing it Together podcast to discuss the horror comic The Empty Man. We talk about his apprehension to the world of comics and if reading this book made him rethink the medium. We also look at where the influences of a book like this could come from.
t’s been one year since the first reported case of the Empty Man disease, and no drug has been able to slow its progress. The cause is unknown, and the symptoms include fits of rage, hideous hallucinations, suicidal dementia, followed by death, or a near lifeless, “empty” state of catatonia. As murder cults rise nationwide, the FBI and Cdc enter a joint investigation of the Empty Man, hoping to piece together clues to stop the cult and uncover a cure.

Well, we didn't see any of that coming. Although, we probably should have.
On Scandal Season 7 Episode 13, Cyrus's plane was hijacked on the way to a digital piracy summit, putting the lives of everyone on board in danger. The plane lost all contact with ground ops making it harder for the White House to find a solution.
As the plane spontaneously diverted back to D.C, Mellie realized the hijacking wasn't a kidnapping; it was an attack on the Republic.
Would they shoot the plane down? Would they rescue Cyrus, sweet, innocent David and all the civilians on board?
The show is always playing a high-stakes game, but no episode has been this suspenseful and twisted.
We know Jake Ballard is a shady man with access to the Nsa and B613. It would have been effortless to pull all of this off. In fact, the minute it happened, all eyes turned to Ballard.

A scare in the air led to a series of surprising (and not-so-surprising) revelations on Thursday’s Scandal.
When Air Force Two was remotely hijacked (with Cyrus and sweet baby David Rosen on board!), all signs pointed to Jake as the brains behind the operation. Not only was he seen skulking around Cyrus’ office when his assistant’s laptop went missing, but when Mellie pressed him on his involvement, his only defense was that he’d never go to such extremes when he could very easily kill Cyrus with a lethal injection. Hell, he even told her how he’d cover it up.

Early in last week's episode of "Scandal," Scott Foley's spy Jake Ballard finally lost his patience with the show's main character (and his ex-girlfriend), D.C. fixer Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington). He compared her to a plague, and asked, "How does someone as brilliant and accomplished as you not know what you are? Who you are?" It was a dynamite scene, in a "Scandal" season that's been full of them. At least once per week, and often more, the Shonda Rhimes-created drama will pair off two characters — say, Tony Goldwyn's arrogant President Fitzgerald Grant with his former chief of staff Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry), or Fitz with soon-to-be-ex-wife Mellie (Bellamy Young) — with a tangled, tragic mix of personal and professional history, and lets them tear each other into little tiny pieces over all their past sins. It's fantastic each time. "Scandal" is a fundamentally melodramatic show, where...

We've been expecting it, in some form or another, since season 1 – and now that the Olivia/Fitz affair is finally out in the open, it's here. Fitz's impeachment trial is really happening. While both sides prepare their cases, there's one person in particular who seems quite thrilled about the whole thing, and that's Cyrus Beene, sitting on his couch, shoveling brownies and sparkling wine into his mouth, and proclaiming: "This is the moon landing! The Berlin wall is coming down!" Not quite, Cyrus, especially since this happened with Clinton already. Did anyone really care about the second moon landing?

Quinn finding a bloodied Jake lying in the Olivia Pope & Associates conference room demonstrated that a little bit. He has countless stab wounds but is still alive, albeit by a thread. The Gladiators (and David Rosen) take Jake to a shoddy warehouse, where Charlie is waiting. Since they can’t take Ballard to a hospital, they get one of those underhanded doctors to come treat him. Jake will need surgery, but before the doctor touches him, he wants payment in the form of a favor. His friend is a feared assassin known by the name Black Sable, and needs Liv’s help. Pope agrees to help because I don’t know if Jake is covered by State Farm, and he is in desperate need...

This week on ABC’s Scandal, Olivia and others grappled with doing what’s right — though in the end at least one “white hat” was rewarded for their behavior with splatters of red.

And that unfortunate individual was… Jake Ballard (played by Scott Foley).
The episode opened with Rowan — “just” a paleontologist at the Smithsonian — “asking” Olivia to handle his headache (being David Rosen’s targeting of B613). Or is she willing to take down President Grant with the super-spy org? After all, Papa Pope contends, Olivia believes...

Papa Pope is back. After a weeklong hiatus, ABC’s “Scandal” returns with more “twisty, crazy” B613 intrigue. Jake (Scott Foley) teams up with Olivia Pope and David Rosen (Josh Malina) to take down the secret organization and its leader, who also happens to be Olivia’s father Rowan (Joe Morton). But as the preview for the episode suggests, “taking down daddy can be the end for ‘Olitz’” (that would be Olivia and Fitz’s excruciatingly painful couple’s moniker). Olivia Pope Must hold the secrets of the universe between her thighs because her one-night stands stay over and refuse to leave her house the day after. I’ve already tweeted Shonda Rhimes multiple times that I’ll be waiting for the Pimping Like Pope webinar. I got my PayPal account ready for that! I don’t trust that dude Franklin Russell, though.Anyway, David Rosen is going full steam ahead on Operation Bring Down B613, and Jake wants no part of it. So David and Huckleberry Quinn gather ex-B613 agents in a safe house because they need their testimony to bring down the top-secret organization. Already the plan sucks because Rosen doesn’t even take obvious safeguards, like making sure his phone isn’t bugged. Rookie. Jake is elsewhere listening to his conversations and hearing the plans happening. This episode’s client is Congressman Nicolas Reed, whose father (George Reed...

On tonight’s episode of Scandal, David Rosen continued to behave like he was on Sesame Street as opposed to Scandal — securing a death wish in the process. Meanwhile, Olivia Pope continued to actually work on both her job (which is not always in her interest, as we’ve learned in later seasons) and her new sidepiece. And then there is Jake Ballard, who is playing no games with his B-316 underlings.
1. Isn’t it cute that David Rosen thought he could threaten Jake Ballard?
Jake Ballard has punked David Rosen every single chance he gets. Jake Ballard has long proven himself to be ruthless and conniving when need be. Jake Ballard has made it painfully clear time and time again that if you push him, he will pull your head off with his pinky finger. With all that understood, why on Earth would David Rosen think he...

Lena Dunham guest-starred on Scandal as a woman shopping a sexy tell-all that could get Abby and David Rosen fired in “It’s Good To Be Kink.” Scandal 4×16 Recap: Leo Bergen (Paul Adelstein) and Abby (Darby Stanchfield) are in a pickle: Leo got his hands on a book proposal that details, in explicit detail, the […]

Well we were not expecting that. The first half of tonight's Scandal, featuring Lena Dunham, was hysterical. Dunham played a woman named Sue who wrote a tell-all about all the kinky sex she had had with some of the government's highest-ranking officials. Abby – who had slept with two of the men described in the book – enlisted Olivia's help in getting it shut down, and at first it seemed like Sue was on board with not publishing. She then changed her tune and was asking for a cool three million dollars to keep the book from ever seeing the light of day, and it was up to Opa to decode the fake names and try to get the men to pay up, until David Rosen – or, "The Doctor,"...

When the cast of “Scandal” found out Lena Dunham would be guest starring on their show, they couldn’t contain their excitement. Executive producer Betsy Beers made the announcement during a table read of the episode, airing on Thursday on ABC. “She just announced, ‘Playing this role will be Lena Dunham,'” actor Joshua Malina (David Rosen) told TheWrap during the show’s PaleyFest red carpet event in Hollywood. “The place went crazy.” According to Malina, the entire cast of Shonda Rhimes juggernaut is a huge fan of the “Girls” creator and star. Every week, we're breaking down the latest episode of "Scandal" with our own group of Gladiators. Check out the video above to see what our wine-swigging recappers thought of this week's hour ... and what they think it's going to happen in the weeks to come! Keep reading for our full recap ... Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) got back to work last week, but last night, "Scandal" fanatics saw her grappling with Ptsd. The show started with Liv sitting on the floor of her apartment, using wine to numb the aftershocks of her kidnapping. In between flashbacks of her gun-toting kidnappers, Liv was able to help Rose find out what happened to her "missing" neighbor Lois (who was actually shot while Olivia was taken.) Huck (Guillermo Díaz) and Quinn (Katie Lowes) were able to track down Lois' body with the serial number from her artificial hip. Instead of telling Rose the truth,...

By it’s own standards, last night’s episode of Scandal was a bit slow. I mean, no one was kidnapped, murdered, or kidnapped and threatened with murder if they couldn’t be sold to the Islamic Republic of Iran. There was also no infidelity or competing monologues. No one was tortured by Huck either, even when a prime opportunity presented itself. It was like this show was going back to its initial seasons, where mystery clouded the overall episode, but in the meantime there was a simple problem that required Olivia Pope’s wisdom to bring forth a resolution.
I’m so used to this show doing the most, I didn’t know what the hell to do with it acting like it finally took a Xanax. But hell, since we’re here, let’s just enjoy the moment. Lord knows it’ll likely end soon.
