In anticipation of the release of the "Nurse Jackie" Season 5 Blu-ray, Zap2it is debuting an exclusive deleted scene from the season.
In this clip, the nurses staff discusses the farewells they've been receiving from Dr. Mike Cruz (Bobby Cannavale). Jackie (Edie Falco) can't believe it when she hears the kind, respectful things Cruz has been saying, even to Eddie (Paul Schulze). Watch the clip above.
"Nurse Jackie's" fifth season arrives on home video on Feb. 18. The Blu-ray and DVD special features include audio commentaries, more deleted scenes, a gag reel and two featurettes: "A Sober Jackie" and "New to the Floor." The Blu-ray retails for $39.97, and three-disc DVD for $39.98.

"Nurse Jackie" finished off a wildly uneven Season 5 with an inevitable ending: Jackie fell off the wagon and started using again, at the exact time her friends and family were celebrating her year of sobriety.
We knew this was coming ever since last season, when Jackie (Edie Falco) bolted out of rehab before finishing the program. There's also the fact that this show is designed to track the trials and tribulations of an addict -- something that's a lot harder to do with a sober lead. What's disappointing is that Season 5 never did much to raise the stakes for that moment.
Maybe Jackie's perfunctory relapse will help straighten out the show, which struggled to find its way after the unprecedented highs of Season 4. A big shift behind-the-scenes -- creators and former showrunners Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem departed their roles and "Dexter" producer Clyde Phillips stepped in -- led to...

(Warning: The following "Nurse Jackie" Season 5 review contains minor plot spoilers and a few general storyline details not revealed in the season premiere. We're not trying to give anything away, but proceed with caution if you're spoiler sensitive.)
After a season in which Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" redefined itself as essential viewing, anything less is going to feel like a disappointment. And while recovering addict Jackie still hasn't relapsed at the beginning of Season 5, her series is taking several steps backwards.
Season 4 started with a bang: Jackie's marriage was in pieces, she voluntarily entered rehab, her best friend Dr. O'Hara (Eve Best) was pregnant and her colleagues were thrown for a loop by All Saints' aggressive and arrogant new administrator Mike Cruz (Bobby Cannavale). The season took off from there, making brilliant use of every member of its ensemble to tell a terrific arc about personal and professional turmoil and...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nurse Jackie will soon get a shot of sex appeal.
Good Wife alum Betty Gilpin has signed on to play Dr. Carrie Roman, a first-year resident at All Saints described as "sexy," in a season-long arc on the Showtime series. No details about her character have been released as of yet, but as we've seen in the past on Nurse Jackie, All Saints can be a tough place for a new person to try to fit in at. The crew of nurses may get in their digs at one another and have their own little factions to break off into, but once you disrupt the delicate ecosystem in the ER, it's a united front through and through.
Can Dr. Roman find an ally (most likely Coop) that will help her gain a foothold at the hospital?

All Saints is getting some new blood. The Good Wife alum Betty Gilpin has booked a season-long guest arc on the upcoming fifth season of the Showtime dramedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The character actress, whose résumé includes episodes of Law & Order: Svu, Medium and Fringe, will play Dr. Carrie Roman, a sexy first-year resident on the Edie Falco starrer. During the fourth season finale, Falco's titular character was fired after going rogue in the absence of her demanding boss Mike Cruz (Bobby Cannavale) following

Well if you hadn't really heard of Homeland prior to this weekend, you probably have by now. The Showtime series pulled off a major upset at the 64th Annual Emmy Awards last night, winning a large chunk of the major awards in the Drama category over favourites like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis both took home awards for Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series, while the show also broke Mad Men's four-year win streak for Outstanding Drama Series. Elsewhere, Aaron Paul won his second Emmy for his supporting performance as Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for Veep. Modern Family still took the Outstanding Comedy Series, however, while the HBO movie Game Change took the Outstanding Mini-Series or TV Movie. Kevin Costner did manage to pick up some...

Well, like Jackie, we made it! We made it through another great season highlighted by a truly amazing finale. "Handle Your Scandal" incorporated just about every aspect of this series that has endeared it so much to its fans.
Yes, it was a bit hokey at times, like the bar scenes with Eddie and Gloria, but there was also some comedic brilliance - such as when Jackie and Eddie were trying to pack a hospital bag for O'Hara at her house, as I noted in this week's best Nurse Jackie quotes. The staff of nurses also dealt with the usual array of patients, which is always good for a few morbid laughs... from the guy who tried to iron his shirt while still wearing it to the man who hounded Zoey for his Jell-o.
All Saints was not all laughs, though, as Mike Cruz erased any shred of respect I...

Nurse Jackie Sneak Peeks: Jackie Calms the Troops and Defies Mike
It was only a matter of time before new boss Mike Cruz overplayed his hand. This season on Nurse Jackie, the Quantum Bay transport has asserted his authority at All Saints and despite a bump or two along the way, the employees have mostly been receptive. Perhaps they were too receptive, though, as it has given Mike the idea to try and "break" Jackie once and for all, particularly after the whole mess with Charlie happened. Though Jackie has been decidedly more mellow and less aggressive than in seasons past, she's still not one to mess with, judging by the sneak peeks.
Next week's episode of Nurse Jackie, titled "Are Those Feathers?", finds Jackie morphing from beleaguered health care provider to some sort of All Saints mama bear. You may find her making snarky comments to Coop or Zoey,...

This week's Nurse Jackie was filled with a number of interesting character developments, but perhaps the most intriguing aspect of "Day of the Iguana" was the choice of the episode's title itself.
On one level it referenced the third installment in the Hank Zipzer series by Henry Winkler. Winkler's title character is a dyslexic with learning disabilities who, despite his condition, is a very intelligent boy struggling with other people's poor opinion of him as well as his own self doubt. While certainly not the main focus of the episode, I felt like this reference had to do with the development of Coop this week.
Coop, we know, has struggled with his own affliction and was called out by Cruz this week for having a pathological need to be liked. While Cruz noted this as a potential liability to the hospital, O'Hara later on finally saw Coop for what he really is.

Tonight on Nurse Jackie: Jackie May Have a New Roommate
There has been a lot of change running through season four of Nurse Jackie. Aside from the professional shifts that have come from the hospital coming under new ownership and Akalitus going out on the floor again, Jackie's life has been in flux. A trip to rehab, a bunch of secrets getting out, possibly losing custody of her children - it's all happened and we're only a few episodes in.
The trend of change will continue, at least on tonight's episode of Nurse Jackie, titled "One-Armed Jacks". Mike Cruz and Quantum Bay, for instance, have issued new scrubs for the nurses, a solid navy blue cloak of uniformity and compliance. As expected, nobody takes to the idea, Akalitus still adjusting to being in scrubs again and Zoey fiercely protecting her cutesy animal scrubs. If the nurses of All Saints...

On TV this weekend: A “mini” version of Titanic sets sail, SOAPnet hosts a Veronica Mars-athon, HBO goes Girls crazy and more. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are several programs to keep on your radar.
Saturday, April 14
8 pm Titanic (ABC) | This two-night miniseries, penned by Downton Abbey‘s Julian Fellowes, kicks off with three hours that track similar events from different characters’ points of view, each culminating in a cliff-hanger as the ship begins to founder. The final hour (airing Sunday at 9 aka the 100th anniversary of Titanic’s sinking) weaves all the storylines together as tragedy strikes.

I say the following as someone who has watched and enjoyed Nurse Jackie since the title character's very first pill popping: few shows on television were more in need of a change following the season three finale.
Yes, Edie Falco's performance has remained mesmerizing throughout, but nothing ever really happened. Most importantly, Jackie never really suffered any consequences. She took drugs, she lied about it; she had an affair, she got away with it.
For three seasons, this was a drama (yes, a drama. Why it's classified as a comedy in the eyes of all awards ceremonies, simply because it's a half hour long, is beyond me.) that took its lead all the way to the edge, but simply kept her there for episodes on end, refusing to drop her off it.
Until "Kettle Kettle Black Black."
The season four premiere shook up everyone's worlds, not just Jackie's, instantly...

Nurse Jackie has played host to a smattering of sensational guest stars over the last three seasons and tonight's premiere welcomes two new faces: Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and Bobby Cannavale.
And while the rocker's stint is just a single episode, Cannavale (no stranger to guest starring stints having popped up on everything from Modern Family to Sex and the City) is sticking around for the duration of the year as Sacred Hearts' new admin, Dr. Mike Cruz. Chicago – Emmy-winning “Nurse Jackie” starts its fourth season and the highly-acclaimed “The Big C” joins it for its third on Sunday nights starting tonight, April 8, 2012. While both shows have been frustrating at times over their runs, it’s impossible to argue with the talent that Edie Falco and Laura Linney bring to these shows, respectively. I have a clear favorite but it’s nice to have both ladies back on the most crowded night on TV.
On that note — it’s hard to believe that Falco, Linney, and Jeremy Irons are on one network on one night and that network is Not the clear critical favorite for the evening. As I explain more in-depth in my review of the Nurse Jackie season four premiere - which will go live on TV Fanatic the instant this Sunday's new episode concludes - this is a show in need of significant change.
I say that as a fan, but also as a viewer who has grown a bit frustrated by the lack of consequences Jackie Peyton has suffered over three seasons, despite some seriously unethical behavior.
Fortunately, someone at Showtime clearly agrees. Because, wow, almost every character undergoes a major shift on the installment titled "Kettle Kettle Black Black."
The most significant development is given away in this Nurse Jackie season 4 promo: the title character is off to rehab. But what prompts such a decision? It has to do with guest star Billie Joe Armstrong.
Among other changes you can expect:
Someone is pregnant. Someone is in need of a serious shave.
