Former “Top Chef” contestant and chef Fatima Ali says she has a year to live.
Ali writes in an essay for Bon Appétit that cancer she and her doctors thought had gone is back, in her hip and femur bone, and her oncologist recently told her she has a year left. She was diagnosed with Erwings Sarcoma not long after competing on the 15th season of the Bravo cook-off series.

When we think we have all the time in the world to live, we forget to indulge in the experiences of living,” the 29-year-old wrote in the essay, titled “I’m a Chef With Terminal Cancer. In late May, Bravo's "Top Chef" arrived in New Orleans to film its 11th season, premiering on Wednesday, Oct. 2, in a city famed for fun, food and fabulous music. Production wrapped in early July.
But sitting as it does on the Gulf Coast in the Deep South of the U.S., the Big Easy is also known for warm weather -- and the "Top Chef" team could hardly have picked a toastier time of year.
Says judge Gail Simmons, a cook and former food journalist,to Zap2it, "It was incredibly hot outside. It was definitely taxing on our chefs that are cooking and on our production crew, shooting long hours and long days in 100-degree, 100 percent humidity weather. Otherwise, that was a small price to pay to get to do it in New Orleans.

Angelo lost last week we are sad to see him go but this is Top Chef All-Stars you have to bring your A Game every week we are really down to the wire one mistake can send you home no margin for error I’m in this to win it an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Top Chef All-Stars Episode 11, “For The Gulf” – here we go! Dale has the nerve to point out “The reality is, we all gotta go except for one” — Wrong Dale! The reality is you have to sit in that empty bar that serves outside coffee and act demonstrably distraught that a person on a reality show that eliminates someone every day has been eliminated. “But…how can that be, I just talked to him!” would be a better thing to say. On to Quickfireier pastures — this week’s Quickfire Guest Judge is Paula Deen.

Maybe we’re just tired. Maybe it’s the Paula Deen influence but several of last night’s dishes didn’t inspire food envy so much as food leeriness. Chicken oysters? Fried mayonnaise? It’s no “Millionaire Matchmaker” duck embryo, but still, not really feeling it, thanks.
So Paula Deen shows up for a Southern-cooking deep-fried quick fire.

Paula Deen is kinda mean. That’s what I learned during this episode of Top Chef. As the official spokesperson for butter, and also the guest judge, Deen sure stirred up some deep emotions. Let’s recap!
Quickfire Challenge
The Quickfire Challenge is simple: fried foods. Did you know you could fry mayonnaise? It sounds weird and not good, but with some liquid nitrogen, you can make your very own mayo balls! While Richard was being creative, Mike (who should’ve been long gone!) stole one of Richard’s ideas. He made a “chicken oyster” and plated it as an oyster dish... so clever and something he would never have done by himself.
And, of course, it’s Mike who wins the 5K, despite a major Chef's Law violation.
Poor Carla, who wanted to impress Paula so desperately, messed up her hush puppies. And Antonia almost breaks down for only...

The end is almost in sight, but first the remaining chetestants will have to face one of the surliest guest judges in "Top Chef" history.
Just kidding! It's Paula Deen, y'all! And you best believe she wouldn't make the trip Yankee territory if deep fryers weren't involved.
Her quickfire calls for the imaginative use of frying, and as she goes through the list of things she's fried personally (read: everything), the chefs look surprised when she mentions balls of butter. They are familiar with her work, right?
They start battering with a vengeance when Mike announces that he's making fried oysters. No, not that kind of oyster, plebes. He's talking about the ones in chicken armpits. This would be fine if he hadn't just heard Richard talking about making the same thing a few hours earlier... but we'll get back to that.
Poor Antonia, with her delicious-looking fried avocados and shrimp,...

Tune in alert for a Paula Deen-tastic deep-fried buttery doughnut bacon covered burger o'goodness episode of Top Chef. The remaining chef'testants must use a deep fryer to impress the queen of southern cooking: Paula Deen. Deen is then joined by former Top Chef Master John Besh to guest judge the Elimination Challenge where the chefs provide the seafood at a charity event benefiting the fisherman of the gulf region. But when some of the already-eliminated chef'testants make their way back to the kitchen to assist the remaining All-Stars, will they serve as an extra hand or a burden? Find out this Wednesday 2/23 @ 10/9c on Top Chef All-Stars * Paula Deen Visits the Top Chef Kitchen:...

K-Stew may have filmed the highly-anticipated scene in which Bella meets attorney J Jenks to get illegal documents for daughter Renesmee & Jacob!
But one thing’s for sure: Kristen Stewart is working hard for her Breaking Dawn money. The 20-year-old Twilight star was rumored to be shooting scenes at a hotel in New Orleans, La., over the weekend and HollywoodLife.com has exclusively confirmed the location And what went down while she was there! Kristen shot scenes inside the The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Collection Five Star Hotel, located in the heart of New Orleans near Louisiana’s famous French Quarter.
Our source tells us that Kristen was there Dec. 4, and spent “the entire day shooting inside the restaurant.” The Domenica is an Italian restaurant helmed up by internationally known chef John Besh.

Horrid cooks and inedible food await you tonight on Tlc. Butternut squash tacos, teriyaki pasta with chicken, pulled pork so sweet a dog wouldn't touch it and more culinary trainwrecks await you tonight on Tlc. New Orleans chef John Besh is no stranger to cooking on TV, but his new Tlc show 'Inedible to Incredible' (premieres June 21 at 10Pm Et) is nothing like what we've seen him do before.
Take away the hyper-focused battles of 'Next Iron Chef' and the off-the-wall twists of 'Top Chef Masters' and you get something that's just about cooking. Sort of like the 'What Not to Wear' of food, Besh's new show teaches Americans how to reinvent their cooking skills and revamp their relationships with food.
I talked to the enthusiastic chef to get his take on the new show, what he thinks the most common problem is for frustrated home cooks and his very candid feelings about those other shows you might've seen him on.

'Saving Grace' (9 and 10Pm, TNT) series finale
Star Holly Hunter was nominated for both Emmys and a Golden Globe award for her role as tortured, drunken, one-night-stand-havin' Oklahoma City cop Grace Hanadarko, but in three seasons, the intense drama failed to really spark with TV or DVD audiences. The network gives the cast and crew, and the fans, the chance to sign off on a high note tonight, though, as Grace, still reeling from recent events, but more determined than ever to make things better for herself and those around her, heads back to Oklahoma City. Despite her plans, however, her family doesn't quite know what to make of the new Grace ... or her new motivations.
'Behind the Music: Courtney Love' - We're guessing this one could have spanned a whole week's worth of 'BtM' installments, as the Hole singer's life is examined,...

Tlc's summer schedule continues to heat up as the network cooks up two all-new food shows. This is the guy you want to go out to eat with: You think you ate too much at last week's BBQ? Did you have "Ooe" - one of each? That's just what chef Rodelio Aglibot does when he visits restaurants in his all-new special Food Buddha. And, just in time to save you from another burnt burger, chef John Besh is coming to Tlc with the new series Inedible to Incredible. Think of it as the "What Not To Wear" for home cooks -- in each episode, he intervenes with someone who just can't cook and helps them rehab their...

I can't tell you how excited I was that Top Chef Masters finally returned to the airwaves last night after a far-too long two week hiatus. The series has become a highlight in my telly-viewing week and last night's episode of Top Chef Masters ("Magic Chefs") was no exception as the four latest master chefs--Anita Lo, John Besh, Mark Peel, and Douglas Rodriguez--has to prepare a dinner for actor Neil Patrick Harris and his friends at Los Angeles' famed Magic Castle using the four elements of stage magic: surprise, illusion, spectacle, and mystery. I was a guest at the Magic Castle, a private club for professional magicians, about two weeks ago and fell in love with the quirky charms of the place, a former mansion turned clubhouse and multi-staged venue where magic reigns supreme. It was only fitting then that our master chefs should have this unique location...
