Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has acquired North American rights to the comedy Supercool, starring Jake Short (This Is the Year), Miles J. Harvey (The Babysitter) and Damon Wayans Jr., with plans to release it in theaters and on digital and VOD on February 11.
The film from director Teppo Airaksinen (Juice) centers on Neil Tobbler (Short), who has gone through most of his life feeling invisible and fantasizing about his long-time crush, Summer (Madison Davenport). When Neil and his best friend Gilbert (Harvey) find out that Summer is throwing a birthday party, Gilbert pressures Neil to ask her for an invitation. The plan fails, and Neil embarrasses himself in front of the girl of his dreams.
Desperate and humiliated, Neil wishes upon the universe to be someone else—a supercool version of himself—the next day waking up and realizing that the universe has granted him his wish.

This one is probably more thriller than horror, but the synopsis does say "mysterious" events occur, and once we got a look at the genre-heavy cast members, we figured we'd share the new teaser trailer for Human Factor that landed in our inbox today and send ol' 2011 out with a bit of social consciousness.
Human Factor was written by Chaz Fatur (who also directs), Eric Goren, Patricia Goren, and Ian M. Wagner. On the acting side you will find Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Chillerama), Tom Sizemore (Natural Born Killers, True Romance), Danny Trejo (Machete, Predators), Charisma Carpenter ("Buffy/Angel", The Expendables), David Zayas ("Dexter"), George Lazenby (In Her Majesty's Secret Service), Shalim Ortiz ("CSI: Miami", "Heroes"), Keith David, Kim Sønderholm, Laci Kay, Walker Howard, Deborah Twiss, Doug Jones, Ben Cross, and Gary Daniels.

The 1980’s were great, weren’t they? Or rather, they weren’t, they were terrible. But as Thatcher and Reagan launched their cross-Atlantic campaign to disaffect and divide the proletariat and ingrain a cultural orthodoxy of feckless corporate greed threatened to crush the spirits of the many, the artistic output was simultaneously light, uplifting and, occasionally, uncompromisingly and militantly radical.
But of films that fell into the former categories, it was America’s many escapist comedies that now curry the warmest embers of nostalgia, and among its leading lights was Steve Guttenberg. Handsome- but not excessively so- a little cocky, but yet warm and charming, you couldn’t swing a cat around the set of a feel good American comedy without hitting Guttenberg.
Obviously, as this sort of film fell into decline, so did demand for the qualities he had to offer, but yet he remained on the periphery of theatrical feature films.

Humanistic Films has announced the high school comedy The Science of Cool begins filming this summer.
Mischa Barton and Willa Holland — the girls who played sisters in the hit TV show The Oc (TV series 2003-2007) — will join Steve Guttenberg, Twilight Eclipse‘s Kiowa Gordon and Rumer Willis (Sorority Row) among others.
Plot: Neil Tobbler and his best friend Gilbert Stevens are the biggest nerds in their school who love science class, who get good grades, are socially clumsy, and can’t seem to get a break from anybody they meet in their lifetime, until they come up with a formula which can turns geeks into studs. Life changes before their eyes in a single moment, or does it?
The project has been in a pre-production for several years and Hot Tub Time Machine’s William Zabka takes the helm of the board.
In fact, writer & producer of the film,...
