"I don't want to see you become damaged goods..." "It's not just for me. What about the next girl?" Vertical has revealed an official trailer for the legal thriller film titled Miranda's Victim, getting a direct-to-vod release in October this fall. Based on true events, the film first premiered at the 2023 Santa Barbara Film Festival earlier this year as well as a few other smaller festivals. In 1963, after Trish Weir is kidnapped and sexually assaulted, her assailant is caught and tried. After he confesses without legal representation during the trial, he serves a two-year sentence, only to have the verdict later overturned. This retrial triggers a legal proceeding that forever changes the nation's justice system. As rotten as this sounds, it's what leads to the creation of the "Miranda rights". Abigail Breslin stars with Ryan Phillippe as a vicious defense attorney, plus Luke Wilson, Emily VanCamp, Mireille Enos, Enrique Murciano,...

Pic is slated for a day-and-date release on October 6th, with Arclight Films aboard to handle international sales.
Based on true events, the film tells the story of 18-year-old Trish Weir (Breslin), who in 1963 was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. On Saturday, November 13, one of our favorite Hallmark leading men stars in My Christmas Family Tree, and we got him on the line to chat about it.
Andrew Walker is one of Hallmark's most reliable and charming leading men. He never delivers a bad performance, and his characters are the perfect romantic counterparts to his leading ladies.
You'd think that as often as we're honored to chat with him, we'd run out of things to talk about eventually. That's not the case, and it's a testament to how Andrew sets every role he plays apart from the other.
It's fascinating to see someone playing so many different parts that each stand out on their own, and Andrew says it's drawing on all of life's experiences that allow him to so effortlessly distinguish Andrew, the man, from his many characters.

It’s been 10 years since audiences first met Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) in her quest for revenge on the wealthy Grayson family, who she believed were responsible not only for her father going to prison, but also for his death.
Loosely based on “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas, the series, aptly titled “Revenge,” ran four four seasons on ABC, from 2011-2015. It followed Emily (real name Amanda Clarke) as she moved to the Hamptons to carry out her plan, only to become more embroiled with the Graysons than even she could have expected and to learn secrets about her father than shocked even her.
Here, the cast and crew talk about the series’ overnight success, the confines of network television and about the departure of a key figure integral to the show’s DNA.

Emily VanCamp has departed Fox’s medical drama “The Resident” after 4 seasons as a series regular, TheWrap has confirmed.
The actress portrayed Nicolette “Nic” Nevin, a nurse practitioner married to Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry), the titular “resident” at the fictional Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.
In the Season 4 finale, Nic gives birth to her and Conrad’s daughter Georgiana Grace Hawkins. But it doesn’t appear the new family will celebrate for long. Nic’s fate is teased in a promo for Season 5, when two officers show up at the Hawkins home with what appears to be bad news.

The Resident is losing its leading lady.

There was a desire for the actress to come back in a guest-starring role to wrap up her character's arc, but it did not work out.

The made-for-tv movie was a programming staple for the broadcast networks in the 1970s and 1980s. While it fell out of favor in the 1990s and was even dropped as an Emmy Awards category for three years beginning in 2011, it has been on an upswing as of late. This year, 21 telefilms are in contention for the five nominations that will be revealed on July 12.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 24 to cast their 2019 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for their favorite TV movies. In the past, voters were limited in the number of telefilms that they could put forth. In 2017 that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. And, as opposed to the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

It's a very Revenge wedding! Well, without the revenge part, thankfully. Emily VanCamp and Josh Bowman, who played couple Emily Thorne and Daniel Grayson on the ABC primetime soap a few years ago, got married for real this Saturday in the Bahamas, in front of family and friends, according to People and Us Weekly. The 32-year-old Canadian actress and 30-year-old British actor have been together for more than seven years and got engaged in May 2017. When E! News asked VanCamp in January if the two would wed this year, she remained coy. VanCamp's characters had married on Revenge as well (pictured above), although things did not...end well. In 2014,...

Lifetime has unveiled the premiere dates for their robust slate of winter movies. From music icons to deadly cheerleaders to the daughter of a notorious mob boss, the network isn’t holding back when it comes to the drama — some based on true stories, some not — for 2019.
Highlights of their slate include Love You to Death (January 26) starring Marcia Gay Harden, which is based on the true story of a mother and daughter who are nothing like they seem, their tumultuous relationship ending in a brutal murder. Also based on a true story is Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story (January 19) starring Christina Ricci. The movie is inspired by Nellie Bly’s undercover stay at the impenetrable Women’s Lunatic Asylum. For something a little lighter, there’s Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You (February 16) which follows the personal and professional journey of the titular Grease icon. Lifetime...

The first two episodes of Doctor Who Season 11 made many viewers tear up because of what it meant to see a woman play the fictional hero, to be (re)united with the Tardis. Episode 3, “Rosa,” co-written by famed British author Malorie Blackman and showrunner Chris Chibnall, was an even more emotional tearjerker because it was about guarding the history made by real-life hero Rosa Parks, the black woman who refused to give up her seat for a white passenger on a crowded bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955.

This week’s episode of Doctor Who was one of the more publicized installments of season 11, as it came as something of a surprise that the British sci-fi show was tackling the U.S. civil rights movement. Particularly, the moment that kicked it off; the day Rosa Parks refused to give her seat up for a white woman on a bus, thereby starting an all-important chain of events. Could the series approach this event in such a way that it could make for an entertaining time-traveling adventure but while still treating it with the respect it deserves? Remarkably, the answer is an easy, unequivocal yes.
“Rosa,” from writers Malorie Blackman and Chris Chibnall, is certainly the most well-written episode so far this season. The past two have been oodles of fun but the deft handling of a tricky subject matter demonstrated here is on another level. Obviously, we wouldn’t...
