The following The Flash article contains spoilers through Season 7, Episode 14.
The Flash Season 7 Episode 14
The long-anticipated arrival of DC Comics fan favorite Sue Dearbon was a high point of The Flash Season 6, and Natalie Dreyfuss’ instantly charming version of the character did not disappoint. This was a Sue with her own agenda and point of view, a woman who was clearly destined to do more than just fall in love and die violently to serve a man’s story.
A former cat burglar and petty criminal, she was introduced as a smart and sassy heroine who drops quips as easily as she throws a punch. It feels safe to say that almost everyone loved her character pretty much instantly, something that certainly isn’t guaranteed in the world of a show like this.
But when Dreyfuss’ co-star Hartley Sawyer was abruptly fired from the show during the mid-season hiatus, Sue...

Is it strange that The Flash Season 7 Episode 1 felt like a season finale, a season premiere, and a regular episode all at once?
I guess that's what you get after what the television industry has gone through this past year. But, in any case, The Flash is back and has set itself up for a promising run.
One moment you were dying from laughter, and the next, you were crying. The Flash perfectly weaved the serious moments with the lighthearted ones, resulting in a memorable and shocking hour of television.
Is Nash Wells, along with all the other Wells in the multiverse, gone?
There is no way around it, no matter how heartbreaking the truth is. Every single version of Wells has been an integral part of the show since The Flash Season 1, and now, they are no more.

After solving the “incredible puzzle” that is filming amid a pandemic, The Flash wound up starting Season 7 even stronger than originally planned.
What is now The CW’s most senior Arrowverse series had to cut Season 6 short by three episodes, when production was halted almost a year ago. A version of those leftover episodes will now launch Season 7 on Tuesday, March 2, and soon enough close the book on Graphic Novel No. 3 (which saw Efrat Dor’s Eva McCulloch trap Candice Patton’s Iris West inside the Mirrorverse).

It's Barry Allen against the Mirrorverse in the first trailer for The Flash Season 7.
At the end of the pandemic-shortened The Flash Season 6, Mirror Mistress/Eva McCulloch escaped from the Mirrorverse, leaving poor Iris trapped there, while Sue Dearborn was framed for her husband's murder.
The rest of the team were trying to find a way to prevent the inevitable:
The loss of Barry's speed.
In the newly released trailer, Barry attempts to battle the Mirror Mistress, despite his speed fizzling out.
With the return of Caitlin/Killer Frost, there may be another way to take the villain down, but how will all of this affect Iris?
With the series being shut down early last season, some of the storylines will now be carried over to the new season, and the showrunner thinks that fans should pay close attention to the teasers.

The Scarlet Speedster’s latest sprint has had to grind to a temporary halt, as The Flash season 7’s been forced to pause production due to a crew member testing positive for Covid-19. The asymptomatic diagnosis was revealed via a notice that Warner Bros. TV sent to all production employees over the weekend. In order to be as cautious as possible, filming has now been suspended with immediate effect and contact tracing’s been initiated.
According to what Deadline has heard, the studio’s currently working out ways to continue with their production schedule in order to resume shooting without the involvement of the unknown affected individual and their potential close contacts, who are self-isolating.

DC’s FanDome event was a big success. Everyone is talking about new trailers for Wonder Woman 1984, Zack Snyder’s Justice League and The Batman, on top of cool new video game announcements and a ton of other reveals. Arrowverse fans weren’t left out in the cold, either, as they got their first look at season 7 of The Flash, showing us the team working out how to rescue Iris from the Mirrorverse.
Beyond that, the seventh season looks to be a product of circumstances. First up, due to Covid-19-related complications, the sixth run wrapped up early, meaning the first few episodes of season 7 will be a reworked finale that we didn’t get this year.
Also, Hartley Sawyer, who played Ralph Dibny/the Elongated Man, was fired from the show after a load of weird sexually violent comments on social media were unearthed where he talked about kidnapping homeless women,...

Hartley Sawyer’s sudden firing from The Flash couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time for the show, which was in the midst of a major new storyline for Ralph Dibny when season 6 wrapped up. Sue Dearbon, as played by Natalie Dreyfuss, had just been introduced, beginning the classic comic book romance between the Elongated Man and his future wife.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Wallace confirmed that Ralph will be written out of the series following Sawyer’s exit. However, fans don’t need to worry about Sue as she’ll continue to have a recurring presence in season 7. Wallace admitted it was a bit of a challenge to come up with a way for her to return without Ralph, but he’s happy with what the writers have devised.

The Flash has a difficult task ahead as it heads into its seventh season on The CW.
The series has to bring storylines to a close that kicked off in the pandemic-shortened The Flash Season 6, and find a way to write out Ralph Dibny following Hartley Sawyer's firing from the series.
Showrunner Eric Wallace is opening up about the plan to say goodbye to the Elongated Man for some time.
“We’re going to treat it like we would if we were writing a comic book graphic novel,” Wallace told Entertainment Weekly.
“We’re giving the Elongated Man a bit of a rest for while. But we will leave the door open."
“I’m not saying by any means that it’s the end of the character,” Wallace continued.
“In fact, quite the opposite. We just don’t know when he will return, or in what form he will return.

The Flash lost one of its leads following the conclusion of its sixth season. Hartley Sawyer, who’s played Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man on The CW series since season 4, was fired with immediate effect after many offensive tweets from his past were rediscovered. What fans have been wondering ever since, then, is whether the character will be simply written out or if he’ll be recast. As it happens, it turns out the answer is a little bit of both.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Wallace revealed the first details about how season 7 will tackle the loss of Sawyer. Firstly, the EP revealed that, yes, Ralph will be recast to some extent, but only so that they can wrap up any lingering plot threads and get him out the way for the rest of the season.

It's been a long wait for new episodes of The Flash, and fans were rewarded with a brand-new trailer during DC FanDome this weekend.
While this footage is new, they are scenes that were unaired during The Flash Season 6, which was shortened due to the pandemic.
However, it will be used for The Flash Season 7, allowing a trailer to be created for the event, despite the series not being in production.
Series showrunner Eric Wallace explained during the DC FanDome Q&a that at the time that production was shut down, they had about 85 percent of Episode 20 filmed.

Just over a month ago, Hartley Sawyer was fired from The Flash due to the resurfacing of some offensive tweets from his past. To date, we don’t know how the show will handle his exit. It’s possible that he’ll be recast, but Batwoman replacing Kate Kane with a new character following Ruby Rose’s resignation suggests Ralph Dibny will be simply written out, too. There are a few ways the writers could go about this and the most dramatic would be to kill him off.
ScreenRant has come up with a theory that argues that killing Ralph would be the best thing to do, too, as it could set up the next big Arrowverse crossover. DC fans will know that Identity Crisis, one of the darkest storylines in the comic book universe’s history, kicked off with the murder of Sue Dibny. The Justice League was torn...

The CW’s hit series, The Flash, left many fans wanting after the credits rolled on the most recent finale. Due to the current worldwide health crisis, filming couldn’t be completed and with a truncated episode count, the show was forced to leave a number of plot threads dangling.
The season came to an end with the most recent big bad, Eva McCulloch/Mirror Master, soundly defeating Team Flash. She successfully murdered her husband, Joseph Carver, and set up Sue Dearbon to take the fall. She also publicly regained control of her company and forced Barry to use most, if not all, of his remaining speed.
Needless to say, this was not the finale that most were expecting. And while many fans were left scratching their heads, showrunner Eric Wallace actually saw the last-minute adjustments as something of a blessing in disguise, as it allowed for the production to shake things up a little.

Cancel culture has to be one of the worst things to have happened to society since social media became a ubiquitous part of everyday life for a lot of people, and while there’s often sound reasoning behind some of the targets, other times it just feels like the online flash-mob swells in numbers and turns something into a huge deal without knowing all of the facts.
One recent example saw people shocked that beloved Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. had worn blackface in Tropic Thunder, with demands for him to apologize immediately and have him forcibly removed from the top of the Hollywood A-list. The only problem was that a lot of those that were offended hadn’t even seen the movie, and therefore had no idea that the actor’s Academy Award-nominated performance as Kirk Lazarus existed entirely as a satirical look at the entitlement of white actors.

Lisa Vanderpump and Andy Cohen React to Vanderpump Rules Firings: 'Actions Should Have Consequences'
A day after four of her cast members were fired, the grande dame of Vanderpump Rules is speaking out.
Lisa Vanderpump, who headlines the Bravo reality series that follows the staff of her L.A. restaurant Sur, took to social media on Wednesday to address the firings of longtime cast members Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute after a racist prank the two pulled on former co-star Faith Stowers came to light. After The CW got rid of The Flash star Hartley Sawyer due to racist tweets on social media earlier this week, fans are now targeting Caitlin Snow’s Danielle Panabaker and asking the network to fire her as well.
It’s been a tough week for the Arrowverse and its stars. In the wake of the global Black Lives Matter protests which erupted after the tragic killing of an African-American named George Floyd at the hands of several Mpd officers, almost every celebrity and influencer is voicing their support for the movement. Though as you’d expect, it’s not all been fun and games since many people are outing stars who’ve shown racist behaviour in the past.
One such person was Hartley Sawyer, whose racist and misogynistic comments on Twitter compelled the producers to fire him from the upcoming season of The Flash. Now, it appears that Danielle Panabaker,...

The CW recently fired The Flash star Hartley Sawyer due to racist and misogynistic tweets, leading to fans also accusing his co-star Danielle Panabaker of racism over her attitude towards Candice Patton. Now, it seems that Arrow‘s Stephen Amell is also coming under fire for some of his controversial comments about the George Floyd protests.
The story of the Green Arrow and his crusade in Star City may have come to an end, but Amell has managed to keep busy since donning the hood for the last time in January. In his latest episode of the “How’d You Do It?” podcast, where the actor and Nocking Point winery co-founder Andrew Harding host a “leader, entrepreneur, educator, activist, politician, actor, writer, elite specialist, doctor, or athlete” and ask them to get into the specifics of how they accomplished what they’re known for, Amell decided to address the Black Lives Matter protests instead,...

The BBC sketch comedy series “Little Britain” has been removed from Netflix, Britbox, and BBC iPlayer amid concerns about the show’s use of blackface.
Variety reports that the three platforms removed the series on Friday. A BBC spokesman told Variety: “There’s a lot of historical programming available on BBC iPlayer, which we regularly review. Times have changed since ‘Little Britain’ first aired, so it is not currently available on BBC iPlayer.”
IndieWire has confirmed the streaming services’ removals of the series. A Netflix spokesperson declined to comment about its decision to take “Little Britain” off the platform.

Hartley Sawyer, who boarded the fourth season of The Flash to play the Elongated Man Ralph Dibny, was fired from the show yesterday after a number of very disturbing tweets resurfaced. Of course, old social media posts being brought up to attack someone isn’t exactly a new tactic in the entertainment world, but Sawyer’s sexual and misogynist tweets were particularly unsettling.
If it had just been one or two, they might be written off as some particularly dark humor, but there were a lot of them. And while the actor’s entire Twitter account has now been deleted, the damage had already been done, forcing The CW to give him the boot. Which is perfectly understandable. At least, to most.
It seems not everyone’s content with the network’s decision, though, as a petition has now sprung up on Change.org calling for The CW to give him another chance,...

The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace and series lead Grant Gustin have shared their thoughts the firing of Hartley Sawyer.
Sawyer was officially fired from The CW drama Monday after old social media posts with racist and misogynistic references resurfaced.
"This morning, many of you learned that Hartley Sawyer will not be returning for Season Seven of The Flash," Wallace wrote in a social media statement Monday.
"Concerning his social media tweets, they broke my heart and made me mad as hell. And they're indicative of the larger problem in our country. Because at present, our country still accepts and protects the continual harassment -- unconscious or otherwise -- terrorizing and brutalizing of Black and Brown people, which is far too often fatal."
"That's why our country is standing up once again and shouting, 'Enough!' and taking to the streets to bring about active change."

Hartley Sawyer, who joined the fourth season of The Flash to play the Elongated Man Ralph Dibny, was unceremoniously sacked from the show yesterday after a number of very screwed up tweets emerged. Old social media posts being dredged up to attack somebody isn’t a new tactic in the entertainment world, but it has to be said that Sawyer’s sexual and misogynist tweets were particularly weird and disturbing.
He said that a good ice-breaker at parties was to joke that “all women should be in sex farms” and seemed to light-heartedly adopt a serial killer persona, saying: “I like women who are good in the sack! The burlap sack where I put my victims,” and “as a lad, one of my favorite activities was kidnapping homeless women and cutting off their breasts.”

The Flash fans got some hugely shocking news today, as The CW has fired Hartley Sawyer effective immediately following the resurfacing of numerous offensive tweets. Various racist and misogynistic Twitter posts from the actor’s account have been re-discovered over the past two weeks, creating a social media storm. Sawyer, who had played Ralph Dibny on the hit DC show since season 4, posted an apology in response towards the end of May. However, that clearly wasn’t enough and the network has decided against inviting him back for season 7.
As you’d imagine, a surprising, controversial turn of events like this one has been all Twitter’s been talking about all day. Many are fully agreed that The CW made the right call on this one, given the troubling nature of the tweets in question, and below you can see but a sample of what folks are saying.

Earlier today, The Flash fans were rocked by the news that Hartley Sawyer had been fired from the hit CW show. Having played Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man on the series since season 4, the news came as a shock to many but it’s fair to say that the network was justified in their actions.
After all, Sawyer was let go thanks to a number of very offensive tweets from his past that had recently resurfaced, leading to a social media storm due to their racist and misogynistic nature. Though the actor has since apologized, it seems that wasn’t enough and he’s now been fired, effective immediately.

The Flash may not be back for a long time, due to its pandemic-pushed production schedule, but it now appears that it will do so without a fan-favorite character, Ralph Dibny, a.k.a. Elongated Man, after some recently-unearthed tweets by the actor who portrays him, Hartley Sawyer, retroactively stretched his foot into his mouth.
The CW has officially fired Sawyer from his series regular role on The Flash, reports THR. The move occurs after attention was recently called to the tweets in question, made from 2012 to 2014, which—due to their sheer volume—tick quite the array of offensive boxes, with some racist, misogynistic and all-around sexually-crude attempts at humor. After the tweets resurfaced, Sawyer issued an apology, which he posted on his Instagram, seeing as his Twitter appears to have been—quite understandably—deleted. However, it was apparently not enough for the network.
