Jacob J. Halverson was born in Vallejo, California, and spent the first 16 years
of his life in Northern California. At 12 he began a long career in
theater both on the stage and behind the scenes. His technical
experience and training led to bigger and more complicated projects.
When his family relocated to Walla Walla, Washington in 1998, Jacob continued in
theater locally and while in college. While attending college to become
a history teacher he began taking theater directing classes. When he
first started working on productions it was because it was fun. As his
creativity and experience grew he began to see the integral role he
played in completing the picture that is the play as a whole. Like a
painter who might change from one medium to another, Jacob transitioned
from theater to film. Taking a huge step he left a Federal law
enforcement job to move to southern California to pursue a career in
film. After long and in depth schooling in all aspects of film and
successfully directing several other shorts, Jacob brings us Mail Call.
A very personal story about loss and sacrifice and what it truly means
to give your life for a comrade. Jacob chose to direct this piece
because of his family's history of the military service. Since competing school Jacob has
been worked on various independent films, and is hard at work searching
for the next script to direct. He looks forward to getting married late
next year.
