Frank Radice, president of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, resigned Monday on the eve of the group's annual News & Documentary Emmys.
"It was due to significant differences between myself and management," he said. NATAS officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Radice held the position for less than a year, having signed up Dec. 15 as chief marketing officer and ascending to president Jan. 1. He facilitated a warmup in the relationship between NATAS and Los Angeles-based branch ATAS following a bruising legal battle under NATAS' previous president Peter Price.
Radice also made a priority of the Daytime Emmys, ensuring that the show would find a home after CBS and ABC opted out of airing it this year.
Thanks to a revenue-sharing deal more common in syndication, the Daytime Emmys aired Aug. 30 on the CW. The show, produced by Associated Television International, drew 2.68 million viewers, the lowest-ever for the...

Bill Hartnett has been upped to senior vp advertising and promotion at the NBC Agency, East Coast.
Hartnett has been with NBC for 12 years, serving as vp since 2003. In his new role, Hartnett will add the responsibility of managing the integration and daily operation of the MSNBC creative services team into the existing structure of the NBC Agency, East Coast. He also will oversee the agency's East Coast digital promotion team across all platforms and help spearhead the brand strategy for NBC News.
Hartnett will continue to work closely with the NBC Agency, West Coast, on the promotion of "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" and "Saturday Night Live" as well as numerous NBC special events.
He reports to executive vp Frank Radice.
"Bill has been the 'go-to guy' for me and the department," Radice said. "From his first days here as a writer-producer to his time as director and then vice president, Bill has proven day in and day out that he can keep the wheels of this machine running both operationally and creatively.
