Netflix’s upcoming documentary “Money Shot” tells the story of one of the world’s most-visited websites — Pornhub.
Featuring interviews with sex workers, activists and ex-employees of the porn giant, the film, premiering March 15, “offers a deep dive into the successes and scandals of Pornhub,” per Netflix.
More specifically, “Money Shot” chronicles how Pornhub fundamentally changed adult entertainment, allowing erotic content to reach a massive audience and turning pornography into a multi-billion dollar industry. The doc explores the allegations of non-consensual material and trafficking on the site, and Pornhub’s subsequent crackdown on its own content.
“Knowingly profiting from sex trafficking is what we believe they are liable for,” says one interview subject in the trailer. Adds another subject: “The more I explored, the more aghast I became. I found too many cases of kids whose worst moments were preserved in amber.”

Netflix is gearing up to release a documentary film about Pornhub, the controversial sex video platform that features user-uploaded content.
“Money Shot: The Pornhub Story” will debut on Netflix worldwide on March 15, 2023. The documentary, from Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, looks at the history of the internet’s most famous adult entertainment platform and the recent backlash against the site.
Pornhub changed how pornography is produced and distributed, enabling adult content creators to reach “a massive audience while the company made billions of dollars — but it also became embroiled in allegations including non-consensual material and trafficking on the site,” according to Netflix’s description of the film. “As anti-trafficking organizations seek justice for victims, can the online giant protect those from whom they profit, or is this a new wave of censorship for adult performers making consensual porn?”

Winner of the Best Documentary award at the Busan International Film Festival, “The Apology” follows the personal journeys of three former “comfort women” who were among the 200,000 girls and young women kidnapped and forced into military sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. To bring “The Apology” to the screen, director Tiffany Hsiung enlisted an all female team. Hsiung drew on devastating personal experience, as well as six years spent documenting the lives of survivors of military sexual assault during WWII.
The result of these efforts is a truly heartfelt, and at the same time infuriating documentary, which looks upon the lives of these women with kindness and sensitivity, but also paints the Japanese government with the bleakest colors. In that fashion, the documentary shows, in equal measures, the current lives of the three women, all in their 80s or 90s, their stories,...

In Sandi Tan’s documentary “Shirkers,” her friends, Jasmine Ng and Sophia Siddique Harvey, are very direct in their criticisms about Tan, with Jasmine even calling her “an asshole” several times. But that didn’t bother Tan one bit: “It was the way we talked and that’s the nice stuff!” In our recent chat with her (watch the exclusive video above), Tan elaborates, “It was very important for me to capture that reality. If you’re making a documentary, it shouldn’t be airbrushed or the fake version of reality.” Part of what helped her get these honest reactions from her friends was her choice to hire Iris Ng, who’s very small, as her cinematographer. Iris’s small stature allowed her to “vanish behind the camera” and make the subjects of her interviews feel very relaxed in speaking to her.

We have all come to love Sarah Polley as an actress in films such as The Sweet Hereafter, Exotica and Zack Snyder’s remake of Dawn of the Dead, but in the past few years she has proven to be as big a talent behind the camera as she is in front of it. While many actors can have an awkward time going from acting in a movie to directing one, Polley made one of the most confident and assured feature-length directorial debuts with Away From Her, which earned its star Julie Christie an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Polley then went on to direct last year’s Take This Waltz which starred Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen as a married couple that wonders if they’re truly satisfied with the state of their relationship.
