Netflix has ordered a six-part original series based on the hit Swedish crime franchise “Snabba Cash” from Sf Studios.
Based on Jens Lapidus’s bestselling novels, the series is set in Stockholm’s gritty criminal underground ten years after the events depicted in the “Snabba Cash” movie trilogy. The society has become even more obsessed with status and money, while the entrepreneurial jet set as well as the criminal worlds have collided.
The show was developed by Oskar Söderlund, the acclaimed screenwriter behind “The Fat and the Angry,” together with Lapidus, a Swedish criminal defense lawyer and author who has sold more than 2.2 million books in Sweden alone.
Lapidus, who also serves as executive producer, said he had “been waiting for an opportunity to continue with ‘Snabba Cash.'” “The stories are still epic but also depict our time in an unfiltered light. It will be amazing,” said Lapidus.

The European Film Academy — more than 3,000 filmmakers across Europe – voted for this year’s European Film Awards. At the 29th EFAs ceremony on Saturday in Wroclaw, Poland, in a major rebuke to the Cannes competition jury that snubbed German director Maren Ade’s three-hour father-daughter comedy “Toni Erdmann,” her country’s foreign Oscar selection took home five top awards: Best European Film, Director, Screenplay, Actor, and Actress. The awards ceremony is hosted by different countries each year.
Three Scandinavian Oscar entries: “A Man Called Ove” (Sweden), “The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Maki” (Finland), and “Land of Mine” (Denmark) won awards, along with Oscar submissions from Italy (documentary “Fire at Sea”) and Switzerland (animated film “My Life as a Zucchini”). Andrzej Wajda, whose film “Afterimage” is Poland’s official Oscar entry, won an honorary award.

Hannes Holm’s comedy-drama won three Guldbagges, Sweden’s top local film prize.
Sweden has selected Hannes Holm’s A Man Called Ove as its submission for this year’s foreign-language Oscar race.
The film, adapted from Fredrik Backman’s bestseller, has been a record-breaking box-office success in Sweden.
The heartfelt comedy-drama is about a cantankerous old man, Ove (Rolf Lassgård), whose very ordered world is shaken when he has to interact with his new neighbours.
“That A Man Called Ove would be selected as the Swedish contribution to the Oscars feels like a fairytale that never ends. It’s just fantastic and such an honour,” commented Annica Bellander Rune, who produced alongside Nicklas Wikström Nicastro.
Music Box Films has North American rights and will release on Sept 30.
