Sherry Faulkner

Sherry Ann Faulkner was the first of thirteen children born to Derrell
and Lucille Faulkner of Chicago, Illinois. At age 14 Sherry attended a
Upward Bound Program where she was the mistress of ceremony. She was a
natural. Sherry had dreams of becoming an actress. Ms. Anna Mae Smith
offered to pay for acting classes at the Hull House in Chicago. Sherry
attended for 1 year. Life took various turns and led Sherry in other
directions. She later married and had children. While her dreams were
deferred they were never forgotten. At age 52 she had a dream about
pursuing acting again. She began to realize the dream as she sought out
to find Jackie Taylor who offered her a position on the Black Ensemble
Theater Auxiliary Board. She took acting classes there as well as
enrolled in the ETA Creative Arts Foundation School for 2 years. Sherry
landed several auditions and got parts in many plays and films. In 2006
she got a role in a movie called "Promised Kept" by Jason Camp. The
movie is premiering in 2007 at the Black Film Festival in San Francisco
California. Sherry now resides in Cicero, Illinois. She has 5 grown
children and 15 grandchildren all of which are very proud of
her.
