Discovery Channel’s reality TV series, Deadliest Catch Season 19, focuses on the crab fisherman in the Bering Sea in 2023. The dangerous job can certainly pay well, but many viewers watching still wouldn’t perform the daily duties for the annual income. So, who’s the richest captain on Deadliest Catch? Here’s what to know.
Who is the richest captain in ‘Deadliest Catch’? ‘Deadliest Catch’ captains Sig Hansen and Keith Colburn | Gary Miller/FilmMagic
The richest captain in Deadliest Catch is season 19 star Sig Hansen, captain of F/V Northwestern.
Sig has a reported net worth of $3.5 million and brings in an annual salary of $500,000 to $1,000,000. He first started fishing while on his parents’ boat at the age of 14, and after high school, he made it a year-round activity. His father, Sverre, pioneered the Alaskan crab fishing industry, so it was always in Sig’s blood to take to the Bering Sea.

Under ordinary circumstances, if you spotted a beach littered with luggage from a plane crash, you’d probably call it a tragedy. But if you happen to be in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, you might instead call it a yard sale.
At least that was what Nick — as much a wit as he is a survivor — did in this week’s Fear the Walking Dead. Of course, there was more waiting for the Abigail’s passengers on shore than just travel-size cream rinse and dog-eared copies of SkyMall.
Who? What? Read on, and we’ll unpack “Ouroboros” together.

Today was a busy day for some of the smaller guilds with the Visual Effects Society, the Cinema Audio Society, and the Makeup and Hairstylists Guilds all announcing their nominations for 2013.
First, we have the Ves, whose main category to look at is “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture,” where we find Gravity and four other nominees that are just going to have to be happy with the fact that they got nominated. This is perhaps the easiest category to call in the entirety of awards season, and I don’t mean just here, but for the Oscar as well (Last year’s winner, Life of Pi, easily took this category before going on to claim the Oscar). It’s true that films like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Star Trek Into Darkness had outstanding effects as well, but nothing even came close to the amazing,...

A fourth-generation fisherman, Capt. Sig Hansen thought he'd spend most of his life at sea, particularly in the Bering Sea off Alaska. Little did he know that fate -- and a little Tuesday-night show called "Deadliest Catch" on Discovery Channel -- would eventually land him at a post-premiere party, right behind one of his favorite athletes.
"David Beckham was in there," he says, calling in from Florida where he's on a "Captains' Tour," with fellow "Deadliest" crab-boat captains Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand. "I was right behind him, but I didn't want to bother him. I was thinking, 'Man, I wish I could just grab him and get a picture,' but I chickened out."
The premiere in question was for Disney/Pixar's new animated movie "Cars 2," released to theaters on June 24. Hansen voices the character of Crabby the Boat, a cartoon version of his own boat, the blue-and-white F/V Northwestern.

The Bering Sea has always been a character on Deadliest Catch, but last night’s episode took it to another level as we watched it work through the five stages of grief. Unaware of Phil Harris’ final fight, the other captains continued to battle a 1,000 square-mile arctic storm. The Northwestern plowed through 45-ft. waves and 60-mph wind and suddenly looked like a toy in a bathtub. “That’s an angry sea, my friend,” deckhand Nick Mavar, Jr. said. Wind blew in every direction around The Wizard. “We got just this confused sea going on right now,” Capt. Keith said. The...
