Underscore Talent has a new Stem, Learning, and Education division–and, to lead that division, it’s tapped longtime talent manager David Seelos, who is bringing in his roster of top science creators, including Michael Reeves, William Osman, TheBackyardScientist, NileRed, Code Bullet, Emily the Engineer, Tom Stanton, and PeterSripol.
Seelos worked alongside Ian Dokie, founder of Concurrent Studios, to co-found their own management company, End Card Digital, in 2019; they focused on signing creators that “build, educate and entertain.” End Card will “phase out” as Seelos moves his roster to Underscore, and Dokie will shift to other ventures in the creator space, Seelos says.
Seelos also notably worked with Dokie and Osman to build Open Sauce, the content creator-focused Stem convention that expects to bring 150 creators, 500 exhibitors, and 20,000+ attendees to the Cow Palace in San Francisco next month.

Rlje Films has scooped up rights to Plus One, Jeff Chan and Andrew Rhymer’s romantic comedy that will have its world premiere next month at the Tribeca Film Festival. The distributor, which recently released the Sundance revenge pic Mandy starring Nicolas Cage, acquired Plus One preemptively in a low-seven-figure deal, and is eyeing a summer 2019 release.
Starring Maya Erskine (Hulu’s Pen15) and Jack Quaid (Rampage), the pic revolves around longtime friends Alice and Ben, who find themselves in that inevitable year that all late twentysomethings experience — when seemingly every person they know gets married. They agree to be one another’s plus ones as they power through an endless parade of weddings. Ed Begley Jr, SNL‘s Beck Bennett, Rosalind Chao, Brianne Howey, Jon Bass and Finn Wittrock co-star.

Old-school YouTube multichannel networks that have tens of thousands of creator partners are on their way out. But digital-media company Studio71 continues to strategically add big names to its network.
Hannah Hart is among the newest wave of Studio71’s partners; previously, she was affiliated with Kin Community, a women-targeted McN. With the move, she joins longtime collaborators Mamrie Hart (no relation) and Grace Helbig, both of whom are signed with Studio71 and host daily talkshow “This Might Get…” produced by the studio.
Under the pact, Studio71 will help manage Hannah Hart’s digital strategy to grow her online presence. The comedian-foodie-author’s fanbase includes 2.5 million YouTube subscribers and more than 5.3 million followers across platforms. Hannah Hart is repped by UTA.
In addition, Studio71 announced new talent signings across several categories including Family Gaming Team (FGTeeV), a big YouTube gaming channel with 15 million subscribers; teen Loren Gray, one of the most popular creators on Musical.

It's amazing to see how some people careers progress. In this case I am talking about Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The former WWE superstar who's first match came in 1996 at Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden. His film debut came in The Mummy Returns in 2001 and since then he has taken the film industry by storm doing films like Walking Tall and joining the Fast and the Furious crew all the way to being The Tooth Fairy. With future films already in the works like Rampage and a future role as DC Comic's Black Adam, it is safe to say that Johnson isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
If wrestling and movies weren't enough, Johnson alongside Dany Garcia are expanding their production company known as Seven Bucks Productions. Variety is reporting that using their digital arm called Seven Bucks Digital Studios and in partnership with Studio71, Seven Bucks Productions has launched it's first-ever pilot program.

Ahead of its 2017 NewFronts presentation (which it will deliver via a digital stream rather than a live event), Studio71 announced that it would launch an incubator program alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. That, however, was not the only piece of Studio71 news to go live ahead of the network’s pitch to advertisers. It also shared a press release in which it revealed programs it plans to produce alongside top YouTube stars.
Studio71’s roster of partners includes digital media notables Lilly Singh, Rhett & Link, and Family Fun Pack, all of whom will launch new shows on their respective channels alongside the network. Family Fun Pack, for example, will “feature new musical talent” for its subscribers while pushing the scope of its operation up to five channels in total. Rhett & Link will also spread themselves across multiple destinations, with a food-related program serving as the next addition for their recently-launched This Is Mythical hub.

It's back! By popular demand, the Tubefilter Meetup is hitting up Los Angeles with at least one event every quarter in 2017.
We're incredibly excited and looking forward to once again playing host to YouTube stars big and small, aspiring and established digital media creators, enterprising entrepreneurs, entertainment industry executives, advertisers, and brand representatives as we all evaluate, critique, and navigate the ever-changing new media landscape among friends, acquaintances, and business associates old and new.
It's crazy to think we hosted our first Tubefilter Meetup almost a decade ago in 2008. Way back then it served as a focal point and stomping ground for individuals invested in the nascent online video and digital media industries. It was a time and place where people with budding businesses and big ideas could congregate to exchange inspirations and know-how or find collaborators for whatever project the democratized tools of entertainment production made possible.
