"The Spoils of Babylon" brought its absurdly hilarious send-up of a melodrama to an end on Thursday (Feb. 6). As creator Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell) intros, "Here it is. The great opera of two lives lived in fear of their desire comes to a close."
In the epic finale, Devon (Tobey Maguire) and Cynthia (Kristen Wiig) reunite for a picnic on the beach where they each have their own Big Carl wine glass and profess their love for one another. Cynthia tries to tell Devon that Winston (Haley Joel Osment) is his, but she cannot and instead they make passionate love in the sand.
Little do they know that at that very moment, Winston runs Marianne (Jelly Howie) down with his car and kills her. Devon comes to kill Winston and finally learns the truth about Winston's paternity. A shoot-out ensues and Cynthia is killed, in a painfully funny death scene.

Hollywood's toe-dipping online for the past few years always seemed to tread somewhere between afterthought or novelty. The real action was on network and eventually cable TV, with the web being a place seldom inhabited by the heavy television players. With standout teen hits like The O.C. and Gossip Girl, Josh Schwartz could be excused for letting others take the bumbling early steps into web television. Tuesday marked the debut of Schwartz' long awaited web series Rockville, CA on TheWB.com and with it the launch of his web television conquest to tap the growing hordes of kids for whom the internet is their entertainment. Schwartz could see a radically shifted music industry; one of smaller labels and rabid online followings. It's only fitting that with the old-guard television biz hitting some of those same winds, that he takes this story to the web. The series stars a handful of...
