- Executive
Antonio Gijón was born in Motril, Granada, Spain in 1953.
From his early years he developed a strong passion for law and cinema. Both were important parts of his experience that mark his life.
At the age of 18 he enrolled at the Colegio de Graduados de Granada. After he successfully earned his law degree, he enrolled at the University of Madrid and Sevilla and completed a specialization in Human Resources, Social Security and Labor Relations, as well as social studies.
After his Post Graduate studies at the University of Madrid and Sevilla, he incorporated his first law firm specializing in Labour Law; these were the early days of AGM Asesores. Throughout the years, AGM employed more than 50 advisors in the legal, economic and finance areas. At present, AGM is recognized in Spain for its strong track record of many years and professional service. AGM has been honored with approximately 50 domestic and international awards over the last 30 years.
Antonio Gijón not only is a well known and respected lawyer, but he is also a businessman, a member of several associations and supporter of many arts-oriented industries. His passion for movies is growing. Last year he decided to spend most of his time living in the USA and thus began his first movie acquisition.
Andy Garcia, who had acted in and directed the movie The Lost City, offered to Antonio, his friend, the distribution of the movie in Spain. Last October, the movie was distributed in Spain by AGM, with the full technical support of the Spanish firm Manga Films (owned by his friends Luis deVal, father and son). This venture turned out to be a commercial success; mainly due to their well planned distribution and promotion strategy carried out by Antonio and his highly trained working team, as well as the good quality of product.
In spite of Antonio's short stay in Miami and Los Angeles, he has successfully launched operations in the USA. Additionally, he has been appointed by the Camacol (Latin American Chambers of Commerce Association) as their advisor for Spain. He is also a member of the Coral Gables and Miami Beach Chambers of Commerce, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, among others.
Antonio has participated in several events with the ex-governor of the state of Florida Mr. Jeb Bush and his wife, as well as other political leaders and US businessmen.
Antonio now dedicates 100% of his time to the film and music industries, presently carrying out film projects in Puerto Rico, Peru, Los Angeles and Miami, among others.
Some of these film projects are:
"The Key", directed by Camilo Vila; "Mancora" directed by Ricardo de Montreuil ("La mujer de mi hermano" with Barbara Morí) and Enrique Murciano ("Black Howk Down", "Miss Congeniality 2", "The Lost City", and the TV series "Without a Trace", among others), script by Oscar Torres ("Voces Inocentes").
He is also producing the musical album for Uruguayan violinist Federico Brittos, who plays a duet with Andy Garcia, Cachao, Michell Camilo, Arturo Sandoval, among others. His most recent project is "Celia the Queen", by Cuban director Joe Cardona.
He is also the manager for the flamenco dancer Rafael Amargo and the well known singer Javier García.
Antonio's passion and know-how of the film and music industries have resulted in successful projects. His commitment to offer superior quality products has brought AGM and his working team to the top.
