No matter how overwhelming the evidence and trustworthy the victims, sometimes the bad guys win.
In Wednesday's (Jan. 8) "Law & Order: Svu," Pablo Schreiber returns as serial rapist and murderer William Lewis. He goes to trial and is found guilty on a couple of charges, but really, he wins.
That means Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) loses. The only good thing is the ordeal should be over for Benson.
Given the final scene, when Lewis fakes a seizure and barely represses a smile knowing he has duped yet another woman, this time a physician, there's all too great a chance he'll return too.
If only the Svu detectives shot him when they had the chance, Tutuola (Ice-t) says. Though Capt. Cragen (Dann Florek) gives him a look for saying so, everyone on the squad and those watching must have thought the same.
The episode stands alone,...

Unless you're one of the unfortunate souls who live in Salt Lake City and need someone to monitor your TV viewing, you'll be able to watch "Hannibal" Episode 1.06, "Entrée," tomorrow night. Here's a sneak peek of the ep featuring psychopath Dr. Gideon (guest star Eddie Izzard), who keeps Will and Alana guessing.
With regard to that mention of Salt Lake City, local NBC affiliate Ksl 5 TV has pulled the show from its schedule, posting on its Facebook page the following:
Programming Note: After viewing the past few episodes, as well as receiving numerous complaints from viewers, Ksl TV will cancel the airing of the NBC show “Hannibal” on Thursday evenings. This decision was made due to the extensive graphic nature of this show... NBC remains a valued partner to Ksl TV. On this coming Thursday's installment of "Hannibal," it's time for the "Entrée" course of the deliciously decadent and depraved meal NBC is serving up to us - although with pretty much everyone on the show seeing a shrink, it's starting to resemble "In Treatment" with serial killers! While we are enjoying Mads Mikkelsen's portrayal of "Hannibal," we've been looking forward to seeing guest stars like Eddie Izzard and Gillian Anderson pop up on the show so when NBC posted photos from the upcoming episodes in which they appear, of course we had to share.
Unfortunately, Gillian is nowhere to be seen (however, you can catch a glimpse of her here), but Eddie is included along with Lara Jean Chorostecki. Below you'll find several photos from and synopses of Episodes 1.06, "Entrée"; 1.07, "Sorbet"; and 1.08, "Fromage," airing May 2nd, 9th, and 16th, respectively.

New York — In these 500 years since Leonardo da Vinci, he has upstaged every genius multi-tasker in his wake. (Ok, not you, Benjamin Franklin and James Franco.)
Da Vinci was a whiz as a painter (hint: "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper"), a scientist and engineer, and a futurist dead-set on fighting the gravitational pull of his own times.
He was an intellect, free thinker, vegetarian and a humanist who supported himself designing weapons of war.
He was tall, handsome and a hit with the ladies. He was great with a sword and, being ambidextrous, which hand didn't matter.
"The phrase `Renaissance Man' was derived from him," says David S. Goyer, who has spent a lot of time studying and pondering him, and has created "Da Vinci's Demons," a sci-fi thriller set in the 1400s.
Another cool thing about da Vinci: He was a man of intrigue, ensconced in secret societies,...

Rihanna has forgiven Chris Brown for his brutal 2009 assault on her, but it doesn't turn out quite the same way for the characters the couple appear to have inspired on next week's episode of "Law & Order: Svu."
"My Funny Valentine" (Wed., Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. Est on NBC) takes the series back to its "ripped from the headlines" roots, and though it's not officially about the couple, the story is nearly identical -- right down to a scene that replicates police photos of Rihanna's battered face.

He stars alongside Hugh Dancy (Will Graham) and Laurence Fishburne (Jack Crawford) in the upcoming TV prequel series 'Hannibal' where we follow Hannibal and Will teaming up to find a serial killer all whilst Hannibal himself of course is carrying out his own murderous tendancies. Washington — The Kennedy Center is reviewing the way it selects artists who receive one of the nation's highest arts prizes, the Kennedy Center Honors, after a group said Latinos have been largely excluded.
The formal review announced Monday includes Kennedy Center board members and an 11-member artist advisory panel. The panel includes actress Debbie Allen, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Broadway actor Raul Esparza and Joseph Polisi, president of The Juilliard School in New York. "Hannibal" may be hitting NBC sooner than we previously thought.
"Hannibal," one of NBC's most anticipated new projects, is the origin story for iconic serial killer Hannibal Lecter from "Pushing Daises" creator Bryan Fuller. At NBC's presentation for the 2013 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour on Sunday, network chairman Robert Greenblatt hinted that the anticipated drama "might" make it to air by the end of the 2012-13 season, depending on how their other new series are received.
Greenblatt and Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment, wouldn't confirm whether the show would air in the summer or fall if all of NBC's other midseason projects were hits. Greenblatt admitted, "It could be a summer show -- you look at all the great cable shows that are on in the summer, it could fit very nicely. It's very well crafted."

Nia Vardalos will guest star on an upcoming episode of "Law & Order: Svu." The "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" star will appear in "Criminal Hatred," the Wednesday, Jan. 30 episode on NBC at 9 p.m. Est.
According to NBC, Vardalos will play Counselor Minonna Efron, whose client is on trial for assault and murder. Vardalos' character is described as "disorganized," which makes D.A. Barba (recurring guest star Raul Esparza) think he's got an easy win, but the character winds up thrwarting him at every turn.
“The Young and The Restless” star Victoria Rowell also guest stars and Fred Norris makes a cameo appearance.
Marcia Gay Harden will return as FBI Agent Dana Lewis in "Secrets Exhumed," the February 6 episodes of "Svu." Agent Lewis partners with the Svu when she suspects a rape-murder case is connected to several cases across the country. "Lost" actor Harold Perrineau will also guest star in...

2012 marked the passing of a number of notable entertainment icons whose influence will be felt for centuries to come, yet unquestionably one of the most pertinent people to pass on insofar as Broadway babies were concerned given his considerable contributions to musical theatre and far, far beyond was the one and only Egot-plus recipient himself - that is Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony-winner plus a spare Pulitzer Prize, in his case, as a matter of fact - legendary composerconductorarranger Marvin Hamlisch. And, last night, byway of PBS and Live From Lincoln Center, audiences across the country were treated to a live gala event celebrating his tremendous Broadway and Hollywood legacy - One Singular Sensation Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch. Highlights of the star-studded night included Smash Brian D'arcy James on a song he debuted in Hamlisch's short-running Sweet Smell Of Success, Michael Feinstein with an emotional take on Hamlischs self-professed favorite self-penned song,...

Here's more reason to feel optimistic about One Life to Live and All My Children coming back — Soap Opera Digest reports that Oltl has found a showrunner while Vincent Irizarry has signed up for the AMC revival.
Okay, for a channel that has seemed to decide its theme involves documenting the worst of our society (when aliens discover earth and try to figure out what happened to humanity, TLC will become The Learning Channel again, teaching the aliens how it all went wrong), a show about married women who compete in beauty pageants doesn't sound so bad. One of the most deliciously juicy parlor games employed by Broadway babies the world round is fantasy casting - the man who made a mint off of sports fans and fantasy football was not too far off, after all, even when it comes to theatre lovers - and one of the most delectable of musicals to discuss, debate, dissect and deliberate upon insofar as its rich casting possibilities, now and then and always, is Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita. With the news of producers announcing this week that the lucrative 2011 revival of the 1979 seven-time Tony Award-winning tuner would be closing at the end of January in lieu of replacing stars Elena Roger, Ricky Martin and Michael Cerveris, though they had previously announced forthcoming star replacements, the interest in what might have been reached a fever pitch. The New York Times reported Friday night that among the replacements...

Now according to the New York Times, a slew of stars were being considered to fill the leading roles. Additionally, Lea Michele and Sierra Boggess were 'discussed for the title role of Eva Peron.'...

Casting has begun for someone to play Wonder Woman in the CW pilot Amazon (with a script written by faboo Young Avengers creator Allan Heinberg) and Deadline has the breakdown on the iconic heroine. I'm continuing to feel optimistic about this adaptation, even if the heroine is named Iris (Iris?) and her background doesn't exactly sound like Themyscira.
Did anyone watch and enjoy Call the Midwife? I don't mean that sarcastically, I never had the time to check it out. For you fans, the BBC announced there's a second season and a Christmas special in the works.
CNN has named former NBC chief Jeff Zucker — who's largely remembered as the man who took NBC from Friends to The Jay Leno Show — as president of the troubled news channel. The development has inspired speculation and suggestions on how...

Law & Order: Svu is branching out into what I like call “Crazy Territory.” I don’t mean it’s going to introducing a bunch of patients from a mental institution, but will be attempting to do a story that I find to be at first glance implausible and therefore crazy, as in “You’d have to be crazy to think this makes any kind of sense.” But then again, it’s possible the episode they are setting up is intended to be a farce. Why else would they tap Malcolm in the Middle’s Jane Kaczmarek for a guest-starring role? She’s too funny to be taken seriously.
As reported by TV Guide, Kaczmarek will be playing the Suffolk Country district attorney, Pam James, who just so happens to be working the same murder case as Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza). James arrests an Svu rape victim as her suspect in the crime,...

EW has the trailer for TNT's upcoming David E. Kelley medical drama Monday Mornings, which features a scruffy Jamie Bamber in scrubs. I think that's enough to get me to check out the pilot.
NBC is developing a comedy created by and starring Kenan Thompson which could take Thompson away from Saturday Night Live.
CSI is planning an episode where the team investigates the death of a female tennis pro and has booked champs Chris Evert and Lindsay Davenport.
The Av Club takes a look at 30 Rock and notes that in just about any other year, it would have been the kind of short-lived comedy that lands on critics' lists of brilliant shows that ended too soon, like Action, Buffalo Bill or Get a Life.
