It's been an interesting year for Hallmark with the premieres of The Way Home and Ride and countless feel-good movies.
Despite initially touting Ride as a success story, the cabler has quietly opted to part ways with the rodeo family drama.
Ride tells the story of a multigenerational family ensemble and follows the lives of the McMurrays, part of a rodeo dynasty going back a generation, as they struggle to keep their beloved ranch afloat.
"After a tragic loss, each character embarks on an empowering journey of transformation and self-discovery while also uncovering a twisted web of secrets, threatening to tear the family and their small Colorado town apart at the seams," Hallmark teased in anticipation of the series debut.
Ride also had a decent cast that came from TV Fanatic fan-favorite series, so there was every indication it would be a success story.

This article contains spoilers for the "Barry" series finale.
Hollywood and the truth aren't on speaking terms; it's a business founded on make-believe, after all. That's why it's the perfect setting for "Barry." I've written before that the series questions whether people can truly change, and its answer is that most settle for just pretending to be somebody else. Reckoning with the truth can be hard, and the series' epilogue shows how yet another comforting lie won out over reality.
The last scene of the series is John Berkman (Jaeden Martell), the teenage son of Barry (Bill Hader) and Sally (Sarah Goldberg), watching "The Mask Collector" — a highly inaccurate, sensationalized version of his father's life and how it intertwined with the life of acting teacher Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler). "Barry" has always had a satirical outlook on the entertainment industry, and "The Mask Collector" — an overt critique of the true-crime...

When a group of thirty-something friends took New York City by storm in the 1998 groundbreaking HBO TV series Sex and the City, audiences didn’t know what hit them. The show that openly discussed sex, dating, and careers was an enormous hit that ran for six seasons, ending in 2004.
Nominated for 54 Emmy awards, and winning seven, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Sex and the City evolved into two movies that debuted in 2008 and 2010.
While a reboot of the original series was discussed over the years, it wasn’t until a surprising event convinced Sarah Jessica Parker to reprise her role as New York columnist Carrie Bradshaw.

This article contains massive spoilers for the latest episode of "Barry."
When Bill Hader and Alec Berg's HBO series "Barry" was first announced back in 2018, the show's identity was pitched somewhere between dark comedy and dramedy. Speaking to Vulture on the eve of the first season's release, Hader explained how he and Berg landed on placing their hitman protagonist inside a Los Angeles acting class because "we were struck by how much it felt like group therapy. We decided, 'Okay, Barry can realize things about himself through theater.'"
That's a more insightful observation than the average layman might realize — for anyone who's taken an acting class a little more advanced than high school level, these classes often resemble a bizarre sort of group therapy session more than anything else. Where one might expect to see discussions of scenes, characters, and craft, such classes have an unsettling tendency to...

Tyler Jacob Moore made his Hallmark debut on Rise playing Gus Book, an investor interested in helping McMurray ranch.
Most of the McMurrays don't trust him, especially Cash. How pure are Gus's motives?
TV Fanatic chatted with Tyler about Gus's reasons for investing in the ranch, the romance with Missy, and Gus's family history. Check it out.
Hi Tyler. You recently made your Hallmark debut on Ride. What is your favorite part of the series so far?
My favorite part that has aired so far would have to be the dynamic between myself and the family members who aren't huge fans of Gus. I get a kick out of seeing the looks of the excellent actors I worked with that I didn't see on the day.
Watching the show like a fan has been fun, and seeing how great they were at being suspicious of my character. I enjoy that.

Isobel McMurray is a strong matriarch who never likes to break down. She can do it all and refuses to let anyone tell her any differently.
It is Isobel’s birthday on Ride Season 1 Episode 4, but Isobel refuses to leave the barn because her favorite horse is about to give birth.
That was just the beginning of the drama that occurs on McMurray Ranch.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive sneak peek at Sunday’s episode, and we’re thrilled to share it with you.
Besides Isobel showing some vulnerability, the hour also showed some character insights into Gus, his family history, and Valeria’s personal secrets.

Nancy Travis stars in Hallmark Channel’s ‘Ride’
Last Man Standing star Travis takes center stage in Ride as Isabel. She’s the resilient head of a small-town ranching family who kept her family’s business afloat after losing her husband, Dusty, years ago. And she did it while singlehandedly raising three sons: Austin, Cash, and Tuff.

James Adolphus’ new HBO documentary Being Mary Tyler Moore begins with an awkward 1966 interview of Moore by producer and talk show host David Susskind.
As Susskind rambles about how Laura Petrie, Moore’s character from The Dick Van Dyke Show, was a “strained idealization” of the American housewife, Moore sits with a big, clearly forced smile, before she finally breaks and launches into a celebration of Betty Friedan and The Feminine Mystique.
I’m rather sick of “Being” in the title for both documentaries and scripted stories — as if claiming to capture the essence of a person is shorthand for profundity — but Being Mary Tyler Moore is definitely invested in this sort of clash between superficial appearances and actual “being” when it comes to one of the most beloved and decorated women in TV history.
The documentary doesn’t always provide definitive answers on who Mary Tyler Moore was, but...

"Barry" is one of the best shows on HBO right now. Although the series has competed at the Primetime Emmy Awards in the comedy categories, it's hard to call "Barry" a "comedy" anymore. The dark character study of a truly demented man may have a few outrageously funny moments, but it's also very bleak in its worldview. On the plus side, it's allowed Bill Hader to show his true dramatic range, with a performance that is both terrifying and sympathetic.
"Barry" is hardly the first dark comedy about an assassin, but unlike others, it's not a show that pulls its punches. The series pokes fun at Hollywood, the theater industry, and actors' volatile and sometimes dramatic nature, but the satire doesn't detract from the gravity of the material. If anything, it makes everything else hit even harder — and there's no better example than how each of the characters have grown and changed.

After going out on a big cliffhanger in its last episode, Once Upon a Time finally returned last night as the citizens of Storybrooke faced their third curse. I know it might be unfair to say this, since it’s Frozen related, but I have never been this interested in flashbacks like I have been for all the Arendelle flashbacks. Every week, I keep getting more excited about seeing the live-action Arendelle and all the adaptations of those characters, even if they do include appearances by Prince Hans. Even though I love to hate this character, I have to give lots of props to Tyler Jacob Moore for making the character so easy to hate. One of the things that has slipped my mind this season is that there has been time travel involved and had Emma not mentioned it in this episode, I wouldn’t have thought about it all.
