Ben Affleck will be making his TV directing debut at Fox. The network has announced a pilot production order for Pearl Street Films' new period crime drama "The Middle Man," set in the actor/director's beloved Boston. "The Middle Man" explores the mob dynamics of 1960s Boston through the eyes of Rudy MacAteer, an FBI Agent on a mission to take down the Italian-American mafia, and Mickey Flood, an Irish-American gangster turned informant. The project, itself dating back to 2009, comes with considerable creative support. Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck ("Argo," "The Town") will executive produce as well as direct the pilot while Pearl Street Films' Chay Charter will also serve as executive producer and Emmy Award-nominee Glenn Gordon Caron ("Medium," "Moonlighting") is in charge of the pilot script. Caron's script is based on a story developed together with actor-screenwriter Michael Yebba ("Ordinary Man") and screenwriter Emilio Mauro ("God Only Knows") during production.
