Fans of horror anthologies like Creepshow or Tales from the Crypt will find plenty to love with The Penny Dreadful Picture Show. The film has some flaws, but they are easy to look past thanks to a great blend of horror and humor and the icon creating performance of Eliza Swenson as our tour guide Penny. Writers/Directors Nick Everhart, Leigh Scott and Eliza Swenson have put together an eclectic collection of horror shorts with Penny (who is just looking for love, even if she has to find it on the Internet), Wolfboy (Dillon Geyselaers) and Ned (Collin Galyean) introducing each as we watch in an abandoned movie theater that serves as Penny’s home and place where she is meeting...

Not to be confused with the upcoming Showtime series bearing the title “Penny Dreadful” or the After Dark HorrorFest entry of the same name, The Penny Dreadful Picture Show is a new horror anthology starring Sid Haig, Jeffrey Combs, and ex-wrestler Al Snow.
That Penny Dreadful sure is a popular gal these days!
The Penny Dreadful Picture Show includes three tales of terror, each set in a different decade. Your host is the delightfully creepy Penny Dreadful and her twisted friends Dead Ned and Wolfboy. Horror film legends Sid Haig and Jeffery Combs join actors Al Snow, Collin Galyean, Josh Hammond, Barry Ratcliffe, Sam Soule and Ramona Mallory on this voyage through the history of cinema and your darkest nightmares.
What the actual segments are about is still a bit of a mystery, but it appears the 1970’s segment deals with a vanload of people falling victim to maniacs, and...

THR reports that "Terra Nova" alum Stephen Lang and High School Musical vet Corbin Bleu lead the cast of Chiller's original movie The Monkey's Paw, adapted by Macon Blair from a short story by W.W. Jacobs.
The film centers on Jake Tilton (C.J. Thomason, "Harper's Island"), who acquires a mystical "monkey's paw" talisman that grants its possessor three wishes and finds his world upside down after his first two wishes result in his co-worker Tony Cobb (Lang) being resurrected from the dead. When Cobb pressures Jake into using the final wish to reunite Cobb with his son, his intimidation quickly escalates into relentless murder -- forcing...

Why Watch? This is just a bit of hellish fun. There’s no pretense to this short film. It’s a recipe stewed together to create something creepy, cobbled together from comedy and horror films of all kinds. The off-putting old toy? The busty blonde in her sleeping gear? The idiot going down to check a noise in the middle of the night? It’s no big surprise what happens here, but there’s something deeply satisfying about it all. It’s almost like writer/director Nick Everhart is slamming his fist down on the table with a smirk here to prove he knows how to construct a classic slasher with an absurd killer. What does it cost? Just 5 minutes of your time. Check out the trailer for Slash-In-The-Box for yourself: Slash-in-the-box (2011) Trust us. You have time for more short films.

With the Halloween season in full swing, we thought we’d bring you a tasty little treat that ends with a bloody trick. Slash-in-the-Box is a horror short that runs about five minutes, and from the title alone you should already surmise what it’s about and how it isn’t going to end well for someone.
Slash-in-the-Box was written and directed by Nick Everhart (666: The Beast, 2012: Doomsday) with director of photography duty by Leigh Scott (Beast of Bray Road, The Witches of Oz) on a shoestring budget of $2,000. Elizabeth Masucci, Tyler Hollinger, and a not-so-innocent jack-in-the-box star.
Enjoy!
