Exclusive: Ethos Entertainment, the L.A.-based talent management company recently launched by Christina Gualazzi and Matt Goldman, has entered into a new joint venture with the NY-based production company Picture Farm, helmed by partners Ben Freedman, Chris Bren, and Dion Sapp.
Through the partnership, the companies will team on the development and production of a wide range of projects, including scripted and non-scripted TV series, as well as features, commercials, and digital content, the idea being that cross-collaboration and knowledge-sharing will unlock growth opportunities for all involved. The Jv stems from an earlier working relationship formed during production on Black Market with Michael K. Williams, the critically acclaimed Vice TV docuseries, produced by Freedman, Sapp, and Goldman, which won two Realscreen Awards.

Exclusive: Sidney Flanigan (Never Rarely Sometimes Always), Frederick Weller (BlacKkKlansman), D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai (Reservation Doggs) and Will Ropp (The Greatest Beer Run Ever) will topline the indie thriller Only the Good Survive, from writer-director Dutch Southern, which has wrapped production.
The film picks up with Brea Dunlee (Flanigan) following a heist gone wrong resulting in the deaths of three of her friends, as she finds herself in the custody of the small-town sheriff Cole Mack (Weller), who may be hiding just as many secrets as her. The only thing for certain is only one of them will survive. Exclusive: Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) and Stacey Farber will play mother and daughter in CTV and eOne’s lighthearted Canadian procedural series The Spencer Sisters.
Created by Alan McCullough, the 10-episode series centers on hot-headed former police officer Darby Spencer (Farber) and her estranged, internationally renowned, mystery novelist mother Victoria Spencer (Thompson).
They have opposite personalities, differing sensibilities and a complicated history but still embark on the unlikeliest of ventures: becoming partners in a private detective agency.
Production begins next month in Winnipeg, with broadcast slated for 2023 on Canadian channel CTV. More details will follow at a later date. McCullough and Jenn Engels (Sort Of) are executive producers and co-showrunners.

Anna Sawai has been cast in the lead role of Lady Mariko, joining previously announced leads Cosmo Jarvis and Hiroyuki Sanada. In addition, the ensemble cast will now also include: Tadanobu Asano, Fumi Nikaido, Tokuma Nishioka, Takehiro Hira, Ako, Shinnosuke Abe, Yasunari Takeshima, Hiroto Kanai, Toshi Toda, Hiro Kanagawa, Nestor Carbonell, Yuki Kura, Tommy Bastow, Moeka Hoshi, Yoriko Doguchi and Yuka Kouri.
Furthermore, Jonathan van Tulleken has come aboard to direct the first two episodes with production now underway in Vancouver. The show has received a 10-episode order at FX.
