Berner will play a supporting role in the cast, in addition to executive producing and composing the soundtrack for the film.

For our latest Q&A feature, we caught up with actor and filmmaker Roger Yawson, who discussed playing the role of Chad in the new movie Killer Campout (coming out this year from Fuzzy Monkey Films), working with Daniel Radcliffe on Imperium, and much more.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Roger! What attracted you to playing the role of Chad in your new movie, Killer Campout?
Roger Yawson: It’s my pleasure. The fact that Chad didn’t care about what he says, he’s rude, aggressive and all sorts of crazy…that’s what drew me to the character because I knew I could have fun with it, and I did! In real life I’m very chill and get along with everyone, and so I enjoy playing characters that are “outside the norm” for me.

★★☆☆☆ For its many faults, Imperium has noble intentions. Inspired by incendiary true-to-life events, its narrative charts an undercover FBI operation to expose a plague of nationwide racial hatred, white supremacist groups and an impending terrorist act on Washington DC. An attempted indictment of right wing intolerance and illegal activity, it's disappointing that this Daniel Radcliffe-led thriller never surprises, truly engages or gets under the skin. The essential irony of writer-director Daniel Ragussis' debut feature is that it features a socially awkward, justly terrified rookie transformed into a skinhead.

At his Zurich Film Festival masterclass, the 27-year-old British actor also spoke about his role in Greg McLean’s forthcoming Jungle.
Speaking at a Zurich Film Festival masterclass, British actor Daniel Radcliffe has revealed that he’d love to try directing a film soon.
“I would love to direct. I would like to that to happen within the next few years, ideally. I’m writing some things at the moment. Some producers are interested,” he said, “I really want to direct, I think I would be good… I hope I would be!”
He joked he would make something “super weird” as his directorial debut, after choosing a series of unusual roles in his post-Harry Potter career.
Radcliffe was in Zurich presenting his two latest films, Imperium directed by Daniel Ragussis and Swiss Army Man directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

Director Daniel Ragussis chats to us about making Imperium, and working with Daniel Radcliffe...
Daniel Radcliffe’s latest effort to throw off the image of a boy wizard and establish himself as a daring young actor is Imperium, an undercover thriller that sees him shave his head and infiltrate a gang of Neo-Nazis who the FBI fear may be plotting a major terror attack. As well as offering a stand-out role for Radcliffe, the film also shines a light on a very serious issue: the white supremacy movement in America.
Domestic terror is a problem that doesn’t enter the public consciousness as much as other forms of terrorism, and this is something the film wants to draw attention to. It’s a taut, exciting thriller regardless of the subject matter, but there’s a lot more being attempted here. We caught up with first time director...

People forget that before 9/11 our idea of a terrorist was a lone wolf type: domestic white Neo Nazis with agendas that warped their intellect into working towards creating chaos to spark a cleansing. It’s therefore interesting to look at the constituency of Donald Trump, a candidate running on a ticket that not only incites race wars but also ensures white Catholics’ safety becomes synonymous with the “nation’s safety.” I guess the idea posed in The Turner Diaries may have been proven correct as each subsequent attack by locals, foreign agents, or both has brought us to this juncture in time. Fear and paranoia has set in, our sights focused on the “other” rather than ourselves. It’s a landscape ripe for a battle to destroy us all.

The narrative is always the same: Daniel Radcliffe is doing something that’s not “Harry Potter”! Since his formative (both personally and professionally) “Harry Potter” days, the British actor has consistently mixed up his roles, jumping from ambitious turns on Broadway to offbeat offerings like this year’s “Swiss Army Man” and 2013’s “Horns,” to a handful of studio outings like “Now You See Me 2” to the occasional drama like “Kill Your Darlings.” He’s found time to do television (“A Young Doctor’s Notebook”) and animation (“Bojack Horseman”). He starred in a seriously successful horror film (“The Woman in Black”) and matched wits with Zoe Kazan in the charming rom-com “What If.”
And still, the story remains: Daniel Radcliffe is doing something that’s not “Harry Potter”! For his latest film, Daniel Ragussis’ crime drama “Imperium,” Radcliffe is again doing something different, playing an FBI agent who goes...

Early press for writer-director Daniel Ragussis’ feature debut Imperium largely concentrated on one thing: the “holy shit” factor of Daniel Radcliffe as a white supremacist. And it is unsettling to see him spouting racial slurs, giving Nazi salutes, and wearing a white power T-shirt as undercover FBI agent Nate Foster. But don’t let the novelty of Radcliffe’s newest sharp right turn from his Harry Potter days—something he may never live down, no matter how hard he tries—distract you from the really unsettling part of this movie: Violent white supremacists are real, and they really do want to hurt people.
In the opening scenes of the film, Foster helps bust a would-be jihadist, the usual object of Americans’ fears about terrorism. But the arrest simply serves to underline the film’s core message, spoken by FBI veteran Angela Zamparo (Toni Collette): “Just because you’re not...

In the years since graduating from (or surviving) Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe has shown a consistent and fiercely impressive desire to use his fame in order to follow his muse. And Radcliffe’s muse has led him to a number of comically dark places, letting the Brit actor’s willingness to forge his own gnarled path become a reliable talking point, rehashed and reinvigorated with every performance as a pariah who grows devil horns or a hunchbacked assistant to a mad scientist.
But “Imperium,” in which he plays a fresh-faced FBI recruit who goes deep undercover with a group of scheming neo-Nazis, is the first of Radcliffe’s post-Potter roles that isn’t delivered with a wink, the first that — if it went terribly awry — couldn’t be written off as an elaborate goof. Title: Imperium Director: Daniel Ragussis Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Toni Collette, Tracy Letts, Nestor Carbonell and Sam Trammell. ‘Imperium’ is a very timely film: it opens Pandora’s box as regards racism. With his starring turn in Daniel Ragussis' debut feature about a young FBI agent infiltrating a white-supremacist organization, Daniel Radcliffe continues his mission of shedding every vestige of his most famous screen character. "Just because you're not looking at something, doesn't mean it's not there." Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for a film called Imperium, starring Daniel Radcliffe as a young "analyst" who goes undercover as a Neo-Nazi in order to figure out the inner-workings and help take down a radical right-wing terrorist group. This actually looks quite intriguing, with Radcliffe going all-in with this role. The full cast includes Toni Collette, Tracy Letts, with Nestor Carbonell, Burn Gorman and Sam Trammell. I'm impressed by the choices Radcliffe has been making ever since Harry Potter, he seems to enjoy challenging himself with unique roles working with up-and-coming filmmakers, and it's refreshing. This looks like it could be good. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Daniel Ragussis' Imperium, direct from Lionsgate's YouTube: Nate Foster (Daniel Radcliffe), a young, idealistic FBI agent, goes undercover to take down a radical right-wing terrorist group. If nothing else, Daniel Radcliffe is taking his career in interesting directions. He’s been in a lot of weird, smaller roles, and whether you love his films, or not, it’s at least rather heartening to see an actor who you have to imagine has a lot of options, try some things that are testing his limits.
His latest, Imperium, is a “true event” film about an FBI agent who goes undercover within a white supremacist organization.
The new trailer paints a pretty dark picture, but one of the most telling moments is when Radcliffe’s character, Nate Foster, tells his superior that he can’t do it. It brings the ideas of the film together quickly, and gives you an idea as to why Radcliffe is perhaps so perfect for the role.

The convenient fiction promoted by many in the western world – that threats come from elsewhere – is about to be torn to shreds by writer-director Daniel Ragussis, in his feature-length debut, Imperium. Inspired by real events, the story was written by former FBI terrorism specialist, Michael German, and shines a very bright light on the issue of domestic, right-wing militias operating inside the United States of America.

Former "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe continues to make interesting and eclectic choices with his post-Potter career. Coming off the outright weirdness of "Swiss Army Man" in which he played a farting corpse with a boner that acts like a compass, he's set to tackle a much more serious undercover drama.
"Imperium" has Radcliffe playing Nate Foster, an FBI agent tasked with infiltrating the neo-Nazi movement. Toni Collette, Sam Trammell, Burn Gorman, Nestor Carbonell, and Tracy Letts also star in the film which is being written and directed by Daniel Ragussis. With far-right groups nearly winning elections in Europe, the old white supremacist stereotype is out of date and Ragussis says it's the right time to explore this issue. "Imperium" hits cinemas and VOD on August 19th.

In it, we see Radcliffe himself shave his head and reluctantly joins the group, an undertaking for which he considers himself woefully unprepared. Burning crosses, dirty bombs, a certain hand gesture and other familiar signposts of the genre all suggest that Harry Potter himself will need more than his Patronus to get out of this one unscathed.

While Daniel Radcliffe could have easily fallen into a comfortable groove after the global attention of Harry Potter, one has to appreciate that it’s difficult to guess what exactly he’ll do next. Following up the summer’s break-out hit Swiss Army Man, he’ll be playing the next “best” thing to a dead corpse: a neo-Nazi.
More specifically, in Imperium he’s an FBI agent who goes undercover in a radical terrorist group. The first trailer has now arrived today and we’ll find out soon if this has the edge and tension of something like Green Room, as it gets released in August. Also starring Toni Collette, Tracy Letts, with Nestor Carbonell, Burn Gorman and Sam Trammell, check out the trailer and poster below for Daniel Ragussis‘ directorial debut.

Collette is aboard to play a hardened colleague in the agency who works alongside Foster. Letts will be the leader of the white supremacy movement in the film and Trammell’s seemingly ordinary suburban dad will secretly be working as an Aryan youth recruiter. In his time playing heroes and weirdoes and people of all stripes, Daniel Radcliffe hasn’t had the chance to play someone in law enforcement. He’s changing that with a new role, signing up to play an FBI agent in Imperium. Though it sounds like some sort of epic space opera, it’s actually rooted in the real-life story of Michael German, an FBI agent who spent years undercover in neo-Nazi and militia groups in the States. In the film, the character based on German will be similarly embedded, trying to stop a bunch of chaos-happy white supremacists constructing a dirty bomb. Daniel Ragussis, who has been making short films, is jumping to features with this thriller, which he co-wrote with German. All being well, the cameras should be rolling this autumn. It’s another job for the ever-busy Radcliffe, who is currently shooting surreal indie pic Swiss Army Man...
