Jack Quaid is making his presence known in some of the most popular shows currently. In addition to playing fan favorite Hughie in The Boys, he is also the voice of Superman in the delightful DC animated show My Adventures with Superman. The show presented a more fun and laid-back portrait of Superman compared to other animated and live-action depictions of the character.

Here’s what we know about Longlegs so far. It’s coming in July of 2024, it’s directed by Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter), and it features Maika Monroe (It Follows) as an FBI agent who discovers a personal connection between her and a serial killer who has ties to the occult. We know that the serial killer is going to be played by none other than Nicolas Cage and that the marketing has been nothing short of cryptic excellence up to this point.
At the very least, we can assume Neon’s upcoming film is going to be a dark, horror-fueled hunt for a serial killer. With that in mind, let’s take a look at five disturbing serial killers-versus-law-enforcement stories to get us even more jacked up for Longlegs.

The villain for James Gunn's Superman, releasing in 2025, has yet to be confirmed, but the director may have just spoiled who it will be.
The Dcu's Superman has announced a stacked cast including several major Justice League superheroes, but plot details, including the identity of the movie's main villain, remain vague at best.
Past live-action Superman movies have pitted the Man of Steel against General Zod, Doomsday, and Lex Luthor, while other iconic villains from his rogues gallery such as Brainiac, Bizzaro, Metallo, and Parasite have gone largely ignored.

During the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, Robert Pattinson and director Bong Joon-Ho shared a trailer and new details about their upcoming science-fiction drama Mickey 17.
Robert Pattinson and Bong Joon-ho took the CinemaCon stage, giving the impression they’re proud of the movie they’ve made. Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey 7, but they changed it to 17 because that’s the number of times Pattinson’s character dies in the film.
Here’s a plot synopsis for Mickey 17: “Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.” In addition to Pattinson, Mickey 17 has a wealth of other talents on board,...

Based on the manga Parasyte, this Netflix adaptation brings forth its own plot and a diverse array of characters who play a key role in progressing the narrative. In the form of a K-drama, Netflix brings us its own rendition of the anime, which centers around Jeong Su-in, a supermarket receptionist who becomes a mutant after a Parasite fails to merge with her completely. What follows is Su-in being pursued by both human authorities and fellow Parasites targeting her. Though reluctant, Su-in is accompanied by Kang-woo through thick and thin. Kang-woo’s own story is brought to light as the story progresses.
A gangster working for Mangnani, a local gang operating in the Namil-gun region, Seol Kang-woo is being targeted by a rival gang after a failed assassination attempt. Kang-woo himself has had a tough childhood and started mingling with the wrong crowd so that he could earn some money for his sisters.

It’s been six years since Parasite took the cinema world by storm and changed the landscape for Western films in general. The Bong Joon Ho movie became the first foreign film to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. It beat out the likes of Joker, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, and 1917. Parasite is about a low-class family who forms a symbiotic relationship with the wealthy Park family. However, that relationship is threatened when greed and class discrimination challenge the values of both families. Bong Joon Ho has been a strong filmmaker for decades now. Al Pacino, known for his absolutely seismic performances, turned in one at the Oscars so brilliant it seems unfair to call it understated instead of barely interested. It appears that Robert Pattinson’s much-awaited project, Mickey 17, has gotten the short end of the stick due to Warner Bros.’ massive gamble on Leonardo DiCaprio’s next flick. The Titanic star, 49, will be helmed by Paul Thomas Anderson in an untitled movie that is scheduled to start shooting in California this year. Even so, we can’t help but wonder if sidelining Pattinson’s flick was a wise choice in this regard.
Pattinson, best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga, has been carving out a niche for himself as a talented and versatile actor over the last few years. His performances in films such as The Lighthouse and Good Time received critical acclaim, so it is no surprise that fans are looking forward to this upcoming sci-fi film.

In April 2019, the Academy made a major change to the category formerly known as best foreign-language film. The following March, at the 92nd Academy Awards, Parasite made Oscar history when it became the first non-English film to take best picture — and the first movie to win the Oscar for the newly designated category of best international film.
The decision to rename the category was born out of the Academy’s efforts to diversify its membership and embrace the global filmmaking community. “We believe that ‘international feature film’ better represents this category, and promotes a positive and inclusive view of filmmaking, and the art of film as a universal experience,” Larry Karaszewski and Diane Weyermann, then co-chairs of the international film committee (Weyermann died in 2021), said in a statement.

Disney+ has unveiled a slate of Korean originals, as the streaming platform opts for a more targeted strategy in Asia.
Bolstered by successful Korean tentpoles last year like Moving and Big Bet, the streamer has ordered seven new titles to premiere in 2024, in addition to previously-announced shows including Light Shop, from Moving creator Kangfull, and Uncle Samsik, starring Parasite actor Song Kang-ho.
One of the biggest titles in the Disney+ announcement is Blood Free, which stars Ju Jihoon (Kingdom) and Han Hyojoo (Moving). It follows a former bodyguard haunted by the failures of his past. After following several leads, he finds himself recruited to protect the CEO of a controversial lab-grown meat company, who is also a survivor of the fateful attack that changed his life.
Unmasked stars Kim Hyesoo and is set in modern-day Seoul. The series follows a team of investigative journalists who are fighting for their careers after broadcasting a controversial story.

Currently revelling in the success of recently-uploaded Don Lee-starring film “Badland Hunters” and already teasing the second season of “Squid Game,” Netflix has unveiled a major slate of Korean films and series for 2024.
In August last year, Netflix publicly committed to investing $2.5 billion on Korean content over the next four years. That reflected both Netflix’s position as the country’s leading streamer, with an estimated 6.5 million subscribers, and its adopted role as one of the biggest exporters of Korean film and TV content.

Prominent Korean filmmakers and arts organizers will hold a media event in Seoul on Friday calling for an investigation by authorities into the circumstances that led to the passing of Parasite star Lee Sun-kyun, who died last month at age 48 of an apparent suicide.
Before his death, Lee had been under police investigation for several weeks over suspected illegal drug use, accusations he strenuously denied. The actor claimed that he was the victim of a blackmail plot and that if he had consumed drugs, it was because he had been tricked into doing so. South Korean police have said that Lee passed several drug tests and sat for lengthy sessions of questioning, including one marathon meeting days before his death that lasted 19 hours. Warner Bros’ highly-anticipated science fiction drama Mickey 17 has been delayed, with no new date set for the film’s release.
One of the most anticipated films set to release in the first quarter of 2024 was undoubtedly Mickey 17, the science fiction drama featuring Robert Pattinson and directed by Parasite helmer Bong Joon-ho. For many folks, the film might even top their must-see list for all of 2024 – but as it stands, we no longer know when the film will be arriving in cinemas.
The film, which features a stellar cast comprising Robert Pattinson, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, Steven Yeun and Naomi Ackie, is thought to have been hit by production delays due to last year’s strikes. Rumours were circling all the way back in October that the film would be delayed, and that has now proved to be the case.

Lee Sun-kyun, the South Korean actor who starred in Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning film Parasite and also featured in the Apple TV+ series Dr. Brain, has died in an apparent suicide. He was 48.
South Korean news agency Yonhap reports that Lee was found dead inside a car at a park in Seoul on Wednesday morning, local time. Yonhap reports that Lee’s wife reported to police that the actor had left home, and she had found what appeared to be a suicide note.
Local media reports that Lee had been under investigation over allegations that he had used illegal drugs. In recent weeks, the South Korean government’s ongoing crackdown on hard drugs has led to a series of allegations against high-profile people including actors, singers, socialites and heirs to the country’s richest families. Following the story of a wealthy man in 1945, Netflix’s Gyeongseong Creature is a period drama that combines history with horror and brings about an intriguing show that poses questions about humanity and the perils of survival in a monster-infested world. South Korea has been well known for making some incredible thrillers over the years, and Gyeongseong Creature does not disappoint on that front either. Although it’s a plot that is rather predictable, there are a lot of thrills to keep one occupied. The show is also set in Japan-occupied Korea, a dark time for the country, and does a decent job of representing the time period. Whether you’re looking for something historical or monstrous, this list will serve you well.
Sweet Home
The most obvious choice when it comes to a double feature with Gyeongseong Creature would be Sweet Home, the TV show about a virus that turns humans into monsters.

Just as Pulp Fiction triggered a wave of inferior gangster flicks with a penchant for witty, fast-paced dialogue and Get Out paved the way for several socially conscious horror efforts, the seeds of Parasite’s widespread influence are beginning to sprout. The disaster movie Concrete Utopia would have still existed were it not for the unprecedented international success of Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar winner, of course, but I doubt producers would have been as eager to give blockbuster funding to a similarly class-conscious satire (which just happens to unfold under near-apocalyptic circumstances) if they didn’t sense similar breakout potential.
It’s not necessarily a criticism that the third film by director Um Tae-hwa follows closely in Bong’s footsteps, marrying his love for the country’s early wave of issue-driven melodramas––as was the case with Parasite, the influence of Kim Ki-young’s The Housemaid looms large––with contemporary big-budget spectacle.

Emerald Fennell's sophomore feature, "Saltburn," plays like a gothic romance. There's sex, there's intrigue, and eventually things turn to murder. As our own Jacob Hall said in his review, "it's one of the bleakest films of 2023, and a real bad time at the movies."
This is a film full of twists and turns, one that plays with the particulars of British class, and a film where Barry Keoghan essentially plays a hornier and queerer Tom Ripley.
Much like "Promising Young Woman," Fennell's "Saltburn" ends very much open to interpretation, with a finale that offers as many answers as it does questions. This is a psychosexual thriller that is often disturbing, quite horny, and features one of the best villains of the year.
Whether you are confused about the ending or you simply want to check out another read on Oliver's master plan, here's what happens at the end...

The sequel to 2018’s Believer has left fans more than dissatisfied. It’s already an established fact that the only good thing about the film is Han Hyo-Joo’s performance, which has taken over social media for her badassery alone. The film attempts to fill the gaps like plastering over the Mona Lisa, making a terrible sequel to a well-received film. What made Believer a big hit was the impressive cast, the action-packed story that kept you on the edge of your seats, as well as the impactful ending. Believer 2 begins before that open ending, leading up to the moments there, and then completely ruins it. We suppose you can’t trust anything with Believer in the title right now. If you’re looking for some fantastic Korean thrillers to make yourself feel better after seeing this blunder, here’s the perfect list for you.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is making its return to the big screen once again as "The Marvels" is hitting theaters. This not only serves as a sequel to 2019's "Captain Marvel," but it's also building on Disney+ shows like "WandaVision" and "Ms. Marvel" with a pair of new heroes joining Carol Danvers to form a new super team. Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani are uniting with Brie Larson as Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, respectively. As the catchphrase goes: Higher, further, faster.
It should not be lost on MCU fans that this is the first new team we've been introduced to in some time. If we don't count the trio of Spider-Men at the end of "No Way Home," we would have to go back to "Eternals." That makes this an important film in Phase 5. But is it important enough to have a credits scene? That's what we're here to discuss!

A romantic comedy about an Israeli-Palestinian couple based on the real life story of creators Nayef Hammoud and Gal Rosenbluth, the development series “Non-Issue” won the Paramount+ drama prize at this year’s Mia Market, which wrapped its ninth edition on an optimistic note. Of course, well before Friday’s closing award ceremony, the heartbreaking crisis in the Middle East cast a heavy pall over an otherwise ebullient audiovisual market, often informing conversations professional and otherwise.

Editor’s note: This review was originally published at the 2023 Busan Film Festival. Netflix releases the film on its streaming platform on Friday, October 27.
Paradise is ever elusive in the work of Bong Joon Ho, no matter what form it might take. That’s true whether it be resolution in “Memories of Murder,” wealth for the Park family of “Parasite,” or even the so-called “calm” that dead animals bring in “Barking Dogs Never Bite.” It’s this search for happiness that typifies the South Korean auteur’s work best, and nowhere is that more evident than in director Bong’s first narrative film: “Looking for Paradise.”
It’s often presumed that “White Man” — a 16mm short released in 1994 — was Bong’s directorial debut, but Netflix’s upcoming documentary, “Yellow Door: ’90s Lo-fi Film Club,” reveals that’s not the case. “Paradise” actually predates it by two entire years and, looking back now,...

For veteran Korean director Kim Ji-woon, his latest feature Cobweb was an exploration into the aesthetics and meaning of cinema. A satire about a film director who is convinced that a reshoot of his film’s ending could make it a masterpiece, the film delves into the beauty of cinema and the emotional journey of those who work behind the camera and in front of it.
“The pandemic got me thinking a lot about filmmaking,” Kim said at a special talk session held during the Busan International Film Festival on Saturday, where Cobweb‘s main actors, including Song Kang-ho (Parasite) and Im Soo-jeong (A Tale of Two Sisters) also participated. “Cobweb got me thinking a lot about the moments when I first fell in love with cinema and dreamt of filmmaking — which changed everything for me.”

Hot off the critic-voted list of The Best Movies of the Last 25 Years comes the results of a 64-director tournament meant to determine who the greatest director of that same time frame is. Coming out the victor was none other than Christopher Nolan, who just made the cut thanks to his debut, Following, coming out in 1998.
The 53-man (counting duos as one), 11-woman bracket determined that Nolan had the most prestige of everyone included, particularly the six competitors he defeated: Ruben Östlund (Triangle of Sadness), Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse), Sam Mendes (1917), Jordan Peele (Get Out), and, in the finals, Denis Villeneuve (Dune). Villeneuve had his own strong competition, besting Lynne Ramsey (We Need to Talk About Kevin), Pete Docter (Up), Alejandro González Iñárritu (The Revenant), Bong Joon-ho (Parasite), and Damien Chazelle (La La Land).

Life kicks us down at the exact moment when everything seems to be going great, and even the Man of Steel is no exception in that regard. After the trip to the multiverse in the seventh episode of My Adventures With Superman, the romance between Lois and Clark had barely started to blossom when Lois got her hands on an ominous case file of the evil Supermen of the Multiverse, which triggered her concerns about Clark. On the other hand, the mysterious General, the leader of the covert government offensive project Task Force X, has started taking the villainous scientist Ivo’s help to manifest his plans of bringing ruin to Superman, whom he considers a threat to humankind. As Clark learns to control another of his newfound powers and struggles with public perception, the eighth episode titled Zero Day: Part One turns out to be possibly the darkest one in My Adventures With Superman.

Nobody can see everything that screens in competition at the Cannes Film Festival — there were 21 titles in the mix this year — and I certainly didn’t. So, without passing judgment on all of the titles that were recognized with prizes on Saturday, I must say that I am struck by the fact that all five of the eligible English-language titles — Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire’s Black Flies, Karim Aïnouz’s Firebrand, Todd Haynes’s May December and Ken Loach’s The Old Oak — were completely passed over by the jury.
Needless to say, it is not the mandate of the Cannes jury — which this year included the likes of Paul Dano, Brie Larson and recent Palme d’Or winners Ruben Östlund (2017’s The Square and 2022’s Triangle of Sadness) and 2021’s Julia Ducournau (Titane) — to try to presage the Oscar race.
