Where is an ill-wish when you need it?
Yep, this week’s Outlander finally introduces us to the wife that Jamie’s been keeping from Claire… and it’s Laoghaire. If you by some chance are just dropping back into this series after a while (aka if the mention of that name doesn’t instantly invoke a burning rage), she was the young woman at Castle Leoch who had such a huge crush on Jamie, she nearly sent Claire to the stake for witchcraft.

We chat to Jon Bernthal about his new film, Pilgrimage, as well as The Punisher, Daredevil and more...
Jon Bernthal is a very busy man. In 2017 alone he’s got seven projects listed and you’d be hard pressed not to catch at least one of them, with Pilgrimage just hitting the shelves, Baby Driver currently across cinema screens, and the rather exciting prospect of The Punisher series hitting Netflix in November.
In Pilgrimage Bernthal plays a mute, channelling his performance through an unspoken relationship with a young, naïve monk (Tom Holland) which gives the film its heart and drive, as they set off as part of a group to try and remove a sacred relic from harms’ way. The film is, for the most part, a tense game of cat and mouse with various threats closing in on them from all sides (including an especially nasty...

Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes have yet to respond to the constant reports that they're an item, but a source tells Et that the two are still very much dating.

The two have been dodging romance rumors since August 2013 after they danced together onstage at the 4th Annual Apollo in the Hamptons Benefit. On the last In Defense Of entry, I turned the clock back to 2007 to take a look at the second of two films to come out that year from director James Wan, his vengeance-fuelled action drama Death Sentence. Putting aside his work on 2015’s Furious 7 and the upcoming Aquaman, Wan’s name has been synonymous with modern horror thanks to kicking off not one but three horror franchises in Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring, and though Death Sentence was an attempt to try his hand at something different early in his career, 2007 also marked the year horror fans were given the chance to see what he could follow up the original Saw with in the form of Dead Silence.
As I discussed in my breakdown of Death Sentence, 2007 has essentially become the year we don’t speak of when discussing Wan’s career; thanks to the string of successes he’s had ever since,...

Jamie Foxx and James Corden don’t need songwriters to create a new hit! The musically inclined pair crafted catchy tunes with the help of public domain songs.
Watch: Exclusive: Jamie Foxx Talks Handling His Daughters' Dating Lives and Getting in Shape for 'Sleepless'
“Frankly, we blew our budget on catering,” Corden quipped when explaining why they would only be singing public domain songs.
When Foxx, the star of musical films like Ray and Dreamgirls took the stage, Corden began, “You know, Jamie, the truth is, sometimes love can be confusing.”
“I’m confused all the time. It’s so true,” Foxx agreed. “Sometimes you’re on top of the world, but sometimes you just feel like you’re going ‘round and ‘round the same mulberry bush.”
“Sometimes you’re the monkey,” Corden noted. “And sometimes you’re the weasel.”
They then broke into a jazzy rendition of “Pop Goes the Weasel.”

New Outlander is here...Kind of! We may still have to wait quite a while for new episodes, but tomorrow's DVD release of the full first season—including 12 extra minutes of unseen footage—is almost just as good. Lucky for you, we've got an exclusive little taste of that previously unseen footage to help make the wait just a tad shorter. In the clip above from the midseason premiere, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) arrive back at Castle Leoch for the first time after their wedding to find the castle deserted...or so they think. Unfortunately, on the way to discover the surprise that awaits them, there are domestic squabbles to be...

It is time for me to make my peace with the fact that I will not be at Fantastic Fest this year. Last year's fest was one of my favorites ever, fitting for a tenth anniversary, and I would love to go this year. It's just not in the cards, though. It guts me, too. The event continues to grow and change and evolve, and it features one of the greatest programming teams in the business right now. There are films playing at the festival that I'll see in Toronto, and I'm sure I'll catch up with others, but that's not the point. Fantastic Fest is an experience, and an amazing one. If you want to go, you still can. "Daytime Only Badges, Fan Badges, and 2Nd Half Badges for Fantastic Fest 2015 are available for purchase here," today's press release urged. If you can go for the second half, you'll...

One of the greatest genre film festivals in the world (some say the best) has just announced its second wave of titles, including a few titles so anticipated you’ll wish you’re in Austin next month. Below are 35 more films to add to the 23 already announced in the first wave. They include Ridley Scott’s The Martian, Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster, Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s High-Rise and Jeremy Saulnier’s follow up to Blue Ruin, The Green Room. In addition to the films, Fantastic Fest is also delivering something special this year with a performance from Itchy-o – “a blazing, 32-member aural assault from the darkest depths of Colorado.” Fantastic Fest will also host the World Premiere of Lazer Team, the first feature film from web series gods Rooster Teeth. “This is a big year for genre cinema. We’re exceptionally proud to honor incredible filmmakers...

It’s hard to believe that we are a month away from what is possibly the best genre film festival in North America! After announcing a Kurt Russell included first wave, we get a wave that probably includes all the films I have the most interest in. The French remake of what I consider is one of Mario Bava’s best films, Rabid Dogs is included. Along with Jeremy Saulnier’s follow up from Blue Ruin, Green Room where Patrick Stewart plays a Neo-Nazi club owner, Ridley Scott’s The Martian, Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of High-Rise and the horror film that has some chilling buzz, The Witch, are all included. Check out the full listing below and wait with anticipation for our coverage of the festival!
Fantastic Fest is excited to announce the second wave of programming featuring the Us Premiere of Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster as the opening night film.

Fantastic Fest will also host the World Premiere of Lazer Team, the first feature film from web series gods Rooster Teeth. HBO’s Game of Thrones Mother’s Mercy TV Show Review. Game of Thrones: Season 5, Episode 10: Mother’s Mercy brought several main character’s season long arcs to a close, striking a typically “Game of Thrones-ian” balance of closure for season 5 and rabid anticipation heading into season 6.

Not satisfied with cracking the stand-up circuit and presenting the (much-missed) BBC Three staple Snog, Marry, Avoid?, it turns out Ellie Taylor is a dab hand at acting, too.
Also starring Johnny Flynn and Ben Ashenden, 31-year-old Ellie is playing Poppy in Comedy Central UK's new sitcom Brotherhood.
The comedy is about twentysomethings Dan and Toby, who become surrogate parents for their little brother Jamie after their mother passes away.
While in the middle of her first nationwide stand-up tour, Digital Spy pinned down Ellie to talk about Brotherhood – as well as dying on stage, why there won't be any more Snog, Marry, Avoid? and the importance of having a KFC located near a Premier Inn.
Ellie, you play Poppy in Brotherhood…
Yes, and Poppy works with Dan at a listings magazine in an office. She's kind of Dan's boss – I don't know how on earth she got that job...

Recently, Entertainment Weekly served up their latest boiler room spoiler session, and dished out extra spoiler scoopage for the upcoming "Outlander" season 1,episode 16 finale episode. It turns out that Jamie is going to get rescued from his turmoil, but that doesn't necessarily mean his problems are over as he'll have some definite emotional side effects to deal with. In their spoiler chat session, they said: "Fear not, Murtagh’s plan to rescue Jamie is successful! But it isn’t Jamie’s survival that you should be worried about. Rather, it’s the emotional effects from the trauma he endured while with Black Jack. The question is: Can he ever move on and once again be the husband that Claire deserves? Final tip for the finale: Have plenty of tissues handy." The finale episode is set to air this Saturday night, May 30th at 9pm on Starz.

Jamie acts like a right arse in this week’s Outlander — and that’s a good thing. Here’s why.
Aside from sending some rather mixed messages to Laoghaire, Claire’s husband has made all the right moves in the short time we’ve known him. He’s deftly navigated complex clan politics. He’s landed a smart, hot, capable wife. He’s even believed the most unbelievable of stories — that Claire is a time-traveling nurse from the 1940s — with a wry grin and a love-endures-all attitude. We’ve rarely seen him make a misstep; the guy is on point.

By the end of last week’s episode of “Outlander,” it had become clear that sexual frustration ruins lives. Scottish Santa’s need to ‘get jolly’ might have gotten his wife killed. Colum’s inability to perform got Dougal and Jamie banished because if the Laird ain’t getting laid, nobody is. And Leery’s teen angst got Claire arrested for witchcraft. Nunneries are looking better all the time. Will Geillis and Claire survive 18th century justice? Since the show doesn’t end here, I’ll assume so. Time to find out how! ***** Without preamble, Claire and Gilly are tossed into a Thieve’s Hole. The locals could’ve at Least asked the Goblin King to install some Helping Hands™ to cushion the fall.
