Pixar’s “Lightyear” (which is now playing exclusively in theaters) serves as the big screen sci-fi adventure that eventually led to the toy that Andy was gifted at the start of the first “Toy Story”. It expands the “Toy Story” universe in surprising and meaningful ways. And introduces us to an all-time Pixar sidekick in the form of his robotic cat pal Sox.
In “Lightyear,” Buzz (now voiced by Chris Evans) is an intrepid Space Ranger who, driven by ego and a truly righteous sense of self, accidentally maroons his fellow space travelers on a harsh world full of treacherous vines and creepy bug creatures. Determined to figure out a way off the planet, he attempts to crack lightspeed travel and finds himself in a strange loop – each time he makes a test flight, he returns to the planet a few minutes later but several years have passed. On June 17th, ‘Toy Story,’ one of Disney/Pixar’s most beloved family animations, will soon see one of its cherished characters, Buzz Lightyear, venture to infinity and beyond in his very own prequel spin-off story in ‘Lightyear.’
Taking five and a half years to make, Buzz’s world give us a whole new view into the depths of space, from Star Command to spaceships, robots, a lot of robots, cyclops robots also the token adorable robot cat. Not just that, Lightyear is a celebration of movies and sci-fi epics in general but is also inspired by the dark side of nostalgia, and the dangers of living in the past.

The looks in animated films combine lots of research, wild imagination and thought. For Pixar’s “Soul,” the artists had to construct the real world of New York City as well as the abstract world Great Before, where protagonist Joe ends up after he plunges down a manhole and hovers between life and death — that presented a whole new challenge: making the intangible concrete.
“One thing on this film, when we’re working with something that you can’t see or imagine, is you have to take it very seriously,” says production designer Steve Pilcher. They decided against going for “quick gags, like a soul world with soul cars,” but “you don’t go for gags, you go for, what would it really be like? And not in terms of reality, but how does it work contextually, visually, with the rest of the film?”

Disney and Pixar's latest feature "Brave" is about to hit theaters, and we're giving away some prizes that are sure to bring out your inner child.
"Brave" follows the hardheaded teenage Princess Merida as she takes charge of her own destiny and shows some true bravery to save her kingdom. The movie is inspired by the Scottish folklore tradition, so it's only fitting that Merida's adventures live on past the movie in literary form.
Five lucky fans will each receive a "Brave: One Perfect Day" hardback book by Steve Purcell and download code for the "Brave" Storybook Deluxe app to pass down the legend of Merida from generation to generation.
If you're thinking this is just for kids, think again. Just like the Pixar films that have come before, the movie's stunning graphics and inspiring tale will captivate moviegoers of all ages. Even though it may have been a while...
