It's official. A follow up movie to the Downton Abbey TV show is happening! NBCUniversal International Studios President Michael Edelstein told the Associated Press, “There’s a movie in the works. It’s been in the works for some time," at a red carpet event in Singapore, for “Downton Abbey: The Exhibition.” The display showcases costumes, locations and previously unreleased footage. According to the report, Edelstein said they're hoping to gather 20 cast members from the original Downton Abbey TV series. “We are working on getting the script right and then we’ve got to figure out how to get the (cast) together. Because as you know, people go on and do other things. But we’re hopeful to make a movie sometime next year.” Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Rob James-Collier, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth...

The sixth season and TV series finale of Downton Abbey drew more viewers than any of Downton Abbey's prior season finales. PBS and Wgbh announced that the finale, which aired Sunday, March 6, drew an average audience of 9.6 million viewers (Nielsen Fast National data, 6.1 household rating) across PBS stations nationwide.
Nearly ten million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Downton Abbey's residents, including: Lord Robert and Lady Cora Crawley (Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern) and their daughters Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Edith (Laura Carmichael). Just as beloved (or more so) are the Downton staff, including: Mr. Carson (Jim Carter), Mrs. Patmore (Lesley Nichol), Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan), and Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier). The Downton Abbey TV series finale aired on PBS last night. As he did when Downton ended on ITV, on Christmas Night, 2015, creator, Ep, and writer Julian Fellowes is doing the media rounds, discussing the end of the six season series, and the possibility of a movie or other sequel. If you're in the States and missed the finale, last night, catch up on PBS.org.
While the Downton Abbey finale gave closure for most of the characters, including Edith (Laura Carmichael), Mary (Michelle Dockery), Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier), it had an open-ended feel, that should make revisiting the characters in a sequel feel natural.

PBS kicks off the Downton Abbey TV series sixth and final season, Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 9:00pm Et/Pt. Before that, PBS will celebrate Downton Abbey's series finale with a float in the 127th Rose Parade®. What's more, star Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley), will be sitting pretty, atop it.
The Countess of Grantham is the only Downton Abbey character publicly confirmed to be riding the float, but PBS implies McGovern is not the only cast member in the parade. Will milady be accompanied by Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Allen Leech (this reporter's bet), or someone else, entirely?

The fifth season of "Downton Abbey" has yet to air in the U.S. -- it's currently broadcasting in the U.K. -- but news has already spread that the acclaimed drama will get a sixth season, according to PBS.
What's unclear, though, is just who among the current cast will return for it. While creator Julian Fellowes has been confirmed to continue writing for the series, there's been no official word about which actors will also be back.
That, of course, leads fans to worry about which beloved character(s) will meet his or her untimely end in a devastating death no doubt planned for the end of the season. (Season five contains eight episodes, plus a George Clooney-starring Christmas special -- could the Christmas goose be poisoned, perhaps?)
American audiences won't see season five until it premieres on PBS on January 4. Let the wild speculation commence until then.

Cameron provides a ready reckoner of what we know so far about the 8 new Doctor Who episodes starting later this month...
Warning: contains potential spoilers aplenty.
We are less than three weeks away from the world's greatest television show returning to our screens and, like the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, rumours are flying higher than a Dalek on doomsday.
But what do we actually know about the upcoming series - what is fact and what is just a made-up internet rumour? As with previous years, not all the episodes have confirmed titles (despite what other sites may say), so let's have a look at what's coming up, starting on the 30th of March.
Episode 1 - The Bells of St John
We know the opener features Star Wars: The Phantom Menace actress Celia Imrie and that it is set in contemporary London.

Four engagements and a funeral take place in this one episode, which aired as two in the U.K.
Downton Abbey and its people are returning to their pre-war routine as the last of the medical equipment is carted away. A title card tells us it’s 1919, and the events of the episode take place between February and April.
We need to start with what is by far one of the best soap moments to ever grace the television screen.

For those of you were distracted by some football game, here’s what you missed on “Downton Abbey.”
War is over! It’s November 1918 and World War I has come to a close, but not without taking its toll on the residents of Downton Abbey both above and below stairs.
But first, remember the very first episode, when the heir apparent, Patrick Crawley, was killed on the Titanic? Now six years later, a wounded Canadian offer,...

For those of us counting down the days until April 1, when we can return to Westeros and the intensely captivating world of George R.R. Martin's creation for season two of HBO's "Game of Thrones," the wait is a torturous one.
Luckily, there has been a flurry of "Thrones" activity of late, via an enticing teaser trailer released over the weekend and recent chats with stars Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey.
Our latest encounter was with Kit Harington, a.k.a. Jon Snow, who revealed a few romantic hints about his character and that he and his castmates have been feeling a swell of fan support for the show recently.

On Sunday night, NBC launched the first two episodes of Merlin: a 13-episode British import marking the latest effort in telling the Arthurian legend. Owing more to J.K. Rowling than Sir Thomas Malory, the opening shows introduce viewers to a squeaky-clean Camelot where the young warlock Merlin ends up a manservant to Prince Arthur, whose father, King Uther, beheads all magic practitioners—a rule that doesn’t sit too well with the local conjurers. Our Hero finds himself in the line of fire between the two factions, and therein lies the body of the tale so far.
The opening episode of most genre series has to work with the gathering of the characters, so one must make allowances and look for gold. Colin Morgan brings a nice, gently smoldering presence to the title role, reminiscent of a young Ben Cross. Opposite him as Arthur is Bradley James, nimbly playing...
