[[tmz:video id="0_r759gns9"]] Colin Kaepernick to the Houston Texans is basically a done deal -- so says Shawne Merriman, who personally knows coach Bill O'Brien from their University of Maryland days. We got Merriman leaving Poppy in L.A. -- and the ex-nfl star seemed convinced that his old buddy Bill (an ex-Terrapins asst.) is gonna pull the trigger on Kaepernick with Deshaun Watson sidelined. "I know he's about that life. He'll do it," Merriman told TMZ Sports.

A review of the "Veep" season finale coming up just as soon as I have incompatible shoes for this carpet... Earlier this season, I wondered if the show might find some way for the election to end with Selina as someone else's vice-president, allowing the show to revert to its original set-up. A part of me was amused by the thought of the contortions necessary to get us to that point, while another was dismayed at the idea that the show might have to hit the reset button so hard, given how much fun Selina-as-potus has been. We'll see if season 5 actually goes through with this tiebreaker mess, where Tom James becomes president, and Selina perhaps becomes his veep. The start of a new era at Penn State didn't go the way Nittany Lions faithful were hoping.
Penn State, in its first game after the sex-abuse scandal that brought down long-time coach Joe Paterno and several other university officials, lost to Ohio University Saturday (Sept. 1), 24-14.
The Nittany Lions took the field to a huge, maybe cathartic roar from their fans, and the cheering continued as they took a 14-3 lead into halftime. Ohio shut out Penn State in the second half, though, scoring 21 unanswered points to put the game away.
The game was the first for Penn State coach Bill O'Brien, who took over for Paterno after the legendary coach was fired in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky abuse scandal. Paterno had been the head coach since 1966.
Following the scandal, Penn State's football program was hit with major sanctions, including a four-year bowl ban and the loss of numerous scholarships.

Penn State football coach Bill O'Brien says he's fighting to keep his team together after the unprecedented Ncaa sanctions ... and claims some universities are playing dirty to get his players.O'Brien, who has the unenviable task of cleaning up Joe Paterno's mess, was on "Mike and Mike in the Morning" to react to the Ncaa rulings -- $60 million fine, vacating 111 wins, 4-year bowl ban, and loss of scholarships. O'Brien said the hardest part of...
