The Knowles-Carter family balled out in New Orleans this weekend. None other than Beyoncé, Jay Z and Blue Ivy Carter were spotted sitting courtside at the NBA All-Star game on Sunday night, and boy was it one precious sighting. The 5-year-old, who will soon be a big sister to Bey and Jay's twins, looked stylish as ever in a lime green dress, denim jacket and sneakers. Little Blue seemed much more interested in the gadget in her hand than the basketball game, and we don't blame her for one second. Doting mama-to-be Bey flashed a silly face as she tended to Blue. The music superstar looked absolutely gorgeous in a printed, floor-length kimono, distressed jeans and a loose-fitting white...

It’s going to be a very busy Monday for Laura Vandervoort.
Not only will tonight’s TV lineup bring a showdown between Elena and the Russian Alpha Roman on Bitten (Syfy, 11/10c), but Vandervoort will return to her comic-book roots when she makes her Supergirl debut (CBS, 8/7c).
This is just one of several meta moments that Supergirl has facilitated in its first season. Dean Cain (a former Superman) and Helen Slater (a onetime Supergirl) pop up occasionally as Kara Danvers’ adoptive parents on the CBS series, and Vandervoort herself played Kara Zor-El on The WB/CW’s Smallville.

Wondering what you’ll watch when The Hunger Games franchise is over? We’ve got some ideas…
As well as sequels, remakes, and comic book adaptations, there’s one kind of movie you can feel fairly sure is going to keep popping up at a cinema near you: young adult adaptations. Stories about teenagers are still doing big business in the book trade, and thanks to Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games, Hollywood is convinced of the genre’s appeal, too.
A couple of new franchises have already been kicked off – there’s still at least another Divergent sequel on the way, and another Maze Runner sequel – but what’s more interesting is the list of Ya novels that have been optioned and may soon be taking over the box office. Now, not all of the adaptations on this list will see the light of day,...

It’s been a surprisingly interesting month of moving and shaking in terms of doc development. Just a month after making his first public funding pitch at Toronto’s Hot Docs Forum, legendary doc filmmaker Frederick Wiseman took to Kickstarter to help cover the remaining expenses for his 40th feature film In Jackson Heights (see the film’s first trailer below). Unrelentingly rigorous in his determination to capture the American institutional landscape on film, his latest continues down this thematic rabbit hole, taking on the immensely diverse New York City neighborhood of Jackson Heights as his latest subject. According to the Kickstarter page, Wiseman is currently editing the 120 hours of rushes he shot with hopes of having the film ready for a fall festival premiere (my guess would be Tiff, where both National Gallery and At Berkeley made their North American debut), though he’s currently quite a ways away from his $75,000 goal.

The John Green adaptation craze that began with last summer’s The Fault in Our Stars and continues next month with Paper Towns has been prolonged, now that Universal has set its take on his short story collection Let It Snow for December 9, 2016.
Green contributed a story to the three-story collection, which also included work by 13 Little Blue Envelopes author Maureen Johnson and ttyl writer Lauren Myracle. Pitch Perfect scribe Kay Cannon is penning the script for the adaptation, which will weave together three unexpected romances that unfold on one Christmas Eve, Love Actually style.
Currently, Let It Snow has the December weekend to itself, but its legs at the box office may be threatened by Star Wars: Rogue One opening the next week. Of course, the holiday crowd coupled with Green’s ardent fanbase should ensure Let It Snow a pretty high opening.

Well folks, after a rather long and brutal winter (at least for me here in Buffalo), we are finally heading into the wonderful warmth of summer, but with that blast of sunshine and steamy humidity comes the mid-year drought of major film fests. After the Sheffield Doc/Fest concludes on June 10th and AFI Docs wraps on June 21st, we likely won’t see any major influx in our charts until Locarno, Venice, Telluride and Tiff announce their line-ups in rapid succession. In the meantime, we can look forward to the intriguing onslaught of films making their debut in Sheffield, including Brian Hill’s intriguing examination of Sweden’s most notorious serial killer, The Confessions of Thomas Quick, and Sean McAllister’s film for which he himself was jailed in the process of making, A Syrian Love Story, the only two films world premiering in the festival’s main competition.

It should come as no surprise that Cannes Film Festival will play host to Kent Jones’s doc on the touchstone of filmmaking interview tomes, Hitchcock/Truffaut (see photo above). The film has been floating near the top of this list since it was announced last year as in development, while Jones himself has a history with the festival, having co-written both Arnaud Desplechin’s Jimmy P. and Martin Scorsese’s My Voyage To Italy, both of which premiered in Cannes. The film is scheduled to screen as part of the Cannes Classics sidebar alongside the likes of Stig Björkman’s Ingrid Bergman, in Her Own Words, which will play as part of the festival’s tribute to the late starlet, and Gabriel Clarke and John McKenna’s Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans (see trailer below). These might be some of the cutest photos ever taken of the Knowles family. Beyonce just shared a ton of candid pics from her mom Tina Knowles' wedding on her website, showing off her revealing bridesmaid dress, daughter Blue Ivy being adorable and the bride gettin' down at her reception. This was definitely one helluva party! First, let's talk about that group photo above. 61-year-old Mama Knowles and the entire wedding party were decked out in head-to-toe white, Tina sporting a gorgeous Romona Keveza design with a gold belt. Meanwhile, Beyonce showed a whole lotta cleavage in her flowy gown, which she paired with a floral headband. Little Blue also wore white, accessorizing with a sparkly tiara. Also spotted in the pic: Jay Z, Solange Knowles, Kelly Rowland and her newborn son, Tina's new hubby Richard Lawson and his actress daughter Bianca Lawson. Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter are no strangers to grabbing headlines with their adorable pictures, and the singer's latest snap is no exception. On Sunday, Beyoncé posted a new Instagram of herself covered in sand with an apparent baby bump. The picture seems to show Little Blue sitting next to her smiling mom during a cute beach day. Beyoncé didn't include a caption in the post, instead letting the picture speak for itself. Of course, all of it could mean that Blue merely got creative in the sand. This isn't the first time speculation that Bey might have another child has amped up, as Jay Z reportedly rapped about a potential baby on the way during their concert in Paris last September.

Turkey or no turkey, these next couple of days lucky filmmakers who’ve been selected to screen as part of the Sundance Film Festival will get the invitation notice straight from John Cooper and the Park City programming team, and thus, those that we’re betting have made the cut have also inched up the list a bit. One of those that seem an obvious choice to premiere at the fest is director Steve Hoover and producer Danny Yourd’s Crocodile Gennadiy. Following up their Grand Jury Prize winning Blood Brother with incredible turnaround time, our new most anticipated film tracks the delicate operations of Gennadiy Mokhnenko, a Ukrainian activist, orphanage manager and savior of countless children whose addict parents favor injected cold medicine and alcohol over them. Part heartwrenching domestic drama, part sleuth thriller, the film looks to use the Ukrainian uprising as a backdrop to highlight its protagonist...

Meanwhile, Jay Z joined in on the holiday fun and dressed as one of his inspirations, Jean-Michel Basquiat. Little Blue accompanied her proud papa as one of the artist's pieces of artwork.Sporting a Basquiat-print jacket and red lipstick, the tiny tot stole the spotlight from her parents as she posed for a picture. Weddings just aren't as safe as they used to be!
Last month, a T-rex "terrorized" a Louisiana bridal party in a photo that went insanely viral. This month, the latest viral wedding villains are ones that "Star Wars" fans will likely recognize.
Toronto photographers Danielle and Tony Lombardo recently posted a photo to their website of three At-at walkers chasing their friends Leslie Seiler and Paul Kingston's wedding party. Check out the awesome photo below:

Tony told The Huffington Post that they were inspired by the dinosaur-chasing-bridal-party shot and wanted to "kick it up a notch and do something cool," incorporating the couple's love of "Star Wars."
They stopped traffic on Eglinton Ave. in Toronto in order to get the photo. Later, they shot their son's At-at toy on a seamless backdrop and placed three in the background using Photoshop.

Was there ever a more highly anticipated baby than the offspring of Beyonce and Jay-z? Well, maybe. But it sure was fun following the story of Miss Blue Ivy Carter, from Mama Bey’s mimed announcement at the 2011 VMAs to all the rumors that she’d be giving birth on New Year’s Eve, to the stories of the lavish gifts the pop/hip-hop/fashion-diva-to-be received from the likes of Oprah and Kelly Rowland. We’ve yet to see much more of the precious one other than the back of her head, and yet we already love every inch of it.
Dominating Moment: Perhaps it was being born? Lil Blue was born on January 7th at New York City’s Lenox Hill Hospital. Did she have her own private wing? Of course she did. She soon charted on Billboard, featured in her dad’s ode “Glory.” Now ask yourself what you’ve done lately.

Count Beyoncé among the celebs who have come out in support of Frank Ocean. The pop star has posted an ode to the "Novacane" singer on her blog, celebrating his decision to open up about a relationship he had with a man when he was 19. "Be fearless, be honest, be generous," begins Beyoncé's free-verse poem about Ocean, whose latest album, Channel Orange, debuted on iTunes tonight in advance of its July 17 hard-copy release. Beyoncé continued: "Be brave, be poetic, be open, be free, be yourself, be in love, be happy, be inspiration." Little Blue Ivy's a lucky kid, isn't she? Mommy's a smart woman. "Trying to figure out what to say...

It's chucking it down with rain outside on the longest day of the year – and what's supposed to be a hot, sunny time of year. Rainy, windy weather is never very good for morale, and having clicked on the news websites, my mood's not exactly lifted when I find out that another Doctor Who legend has passed.
Caroline John, who played Liz Shaw, sadly died on 5th June 2012. Only 71 years of age. Inevitably, with all long-running TV and film series, the more time goes on, the older people get. But that's no small crumb of comfort to Who fans, and in particular fans of the Pertwee years, considering Barry Letts, Nicholas Courtney and Elisabeth Sladen.
Liz Shaw may not always have been mentioned in the same breath as Sarah Jane or Rose – she only lasted one season, and regrettably never got a trip in the Tardis during her four adventures.

He'll perform at a March 12 American Express-sponsored show that's scheduled to be streamed live on the Internet. When the first images from Young Adult surfaced on the Web earlier this year, showing Charlize Theron looking bedraggled in her sweats and Mickey Mouse shirt, clutching a Pomeranian in a carrier and a Victoria’s Secret bag, several young adult authors I know took to Twitter immediately. They seemed torn between being excited about the existence of a movie about their profession, especially one written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman, and slightly horrified by the idea of being depicted as ladies who can’t be bothered to brush their hair and put on a decent pair of pants before leaving the house. And then when they learned Charlize’s character, Mavis Gary, is kind of a crazy stalker who can’t let go of her high school years, they were a bit worried.

In another example of truth being stranger than fiction comes a story about a North Carolina man who inadvertently reenacted Danny Boyle's 127 Hours, based on the unfortunate accident that mountain climber Aron Ralston — played by James Franco in the movie — suffered through. Ralston was canyoneering in Utah when a suspended boulder pinned and crushed him against a canyon wall. He was forced to amputate his right arm in order to break free. Amos Wayne Richards found himself stuck in a similar predicament after falling ten feet in the same canyon. There must be some kind of ancient evil lurking in Little Blue John Canyon for Richards to have an accident like Ralston's, but luckily the 64-year-old man was able to keep all his limbs. He...

Eight years after Aron Ralston cut off his own arm to free himself from a boulder in Utah's Little Blue John Canyon, a 64-year-old North Carolina man faced a similar survival nightmare while hiking in the same Utah desert earlier this month. Even though Amos Wayne Richards had seen 127 Hours -- the Danny Boyle film starring James Franco that chronicled Ralston's hiking disaster -- he still set out for a solo hike without telling anyone of his plans. Richards broke a leg, dislocated his shoulder and was forced to survive four days on rain water and a pair of protein bars before attracting the attention of a helicopter pilot overhead with the flash on his camera. Lesson learned this time? [EW via AP]...

Hollywoodnews.com: It sounds like a story that would appear on the humor site The Onion.
A man hiking through a Utah canyon broke his leg and dislocated his shoulder, then survived four days in the desert before finally being discovered, The AP reports. The reason that we’re covering this story on an entertainment site? He was hiking through the exact same canyon as Aron Ralston, the survivor spotlighted in Danny Boyle’s Oscar-nominated “127 Hours.”
Amos Wayne Richards, 64, is a North Carolinian who crawled across Utah after being injured on his solo hike. He’s Ok. Canyonlands National Park rangers found Richards after he fell 10 feet in Little Blue John Canyon, which Boyle’s fans will remember as the spot where Ralston went down in 2003.

Many moviegoers were able to take inspiration out of "127 Hours," the semi-tragic and true adventure tale for which star James Franco was nominated for an Oscar. The story of Aron Ralston, a man who goes off on a dangerous solo hike of Utah's Little Blue John Canyon and ends up having to cut his arm off to survive, provided a plethora of positive messages: be safe while hiking, allow loved ones into your life, and take advantage of second chances.
One man, however, may have taken the film's imperatives a bit too literally.
Amos Wayne Richards, a 64-year North Carolina man, saw the film and decided to reenact Ralston's trip. Dangerous fall and all. Richards fell ten feet, breaking his leg and dislocating his shoulder, though he soon worked that into place. Fueled by two protein bars and caught rainwater, he dragged himself back along his own trail for four whole days.

Amos Richards fell in same canyon where climber cut off his arm with pocketknife in 2003, as depicted in 127 Hours
A hiker from North Carolina crawled for four days across the Utah desert after breaking his leg on a solo hike inspired by a Hollywood film about a man who cut off his own arm after being trapped in the same canyon.
Amos Wayne Richards, 64, from Concord, North Carolina, is now recovering at home. He said he was inspired to hike Little Blue John Canyon after he saw the Oscar-nominated film 127 Hours, but fell 10ft (three metres) during his trek on 8 September.
Canyonlands national park rangers found Richards four days later. Along with the leg injury, he dislocated his shoulder but was able to work it back into place.

Did you like 127 Hours? Many people did, but maybe not quite as much as this guy: Amos Wayne Richards, inspired by a film in which a man has to cut off his own arm, went out to hike Little Blue John Canyon, the place hiker Aron Ralston was pinned by a rock for several days. Unfortunately for him, he ended up emulating what he saw on screen more than he would have liked, when he broke his leg and got stuck out there for ninety-six hours: Amos Wayne Richards, 64, of Concord, N.C., said he decided to hike Little Blue John Canyon after he saw the Oscar-nominated movie "127 Hours," but fell 10 feet during his trek Sept. 8. Do not try this at a remote wilderness area. A 64-year-old hiker named Amos Wayne Richards survived 96 hours (that's four days, people!) trapped in Utah's Canyonlands National Park with a broken leg and dislocated shoulder. What was he doing out there in the first place? Why, he was inspired by the film 127 Hours starring James Franco! So how did this all happen? More: Afternoon Bitch-Back! Is James Franco Goo-Goo For Lady Gaga? It seems like the North Carolina native took the film—based on Aron Ralston's real-life journey—a little too much to heart and decided to go on the same hiking trip earlier this month through Little Blue John Canyon that Ralston...
