In the United Kingdom, Daisy May Cooper is a certified television star, a familiar enough presence as both an actress and series creator that she appeared on the British version of The Masked Singer earlier this spring. She was the Otter.
Had Cooper been revealed on the American Masked Singer in February, Jenny McCarthy probably would have been totally flummoxed. Cooper might have been familiar from a pair of Armando Iannucci projects — The Personal History of David Copperfield and Avenue 5 — but instead of This Country, an award-winning comedy she starred in and created with brother Charlie, we got U.S. remake Welcome to Flatch; and instead of the British smash hit Taskmaster, on which Cooper contributed to the 10th season, we got the American version of Taskmaster, which bombed in its lone Comedy Central season.

Exclusive: Hulu has acquired Daisy May Cooper’s hit BBC comedy-thriller Am I Being Unreasonable?
The streamer has taken U.S. rights to all six episodes of the genre-bending comedy, which was written by the This Country creator and Selin Hizli (Mum), and exec produced by Jack Thorne. Show will debut as a Hulu original on April 11. BBC Studios struck the deal, having shopped the show at Mipcom Cannes.
Am I Being Unreasonable?, which has been recommissioned for a second season, aired to critical acclaim on the BBC last September and is considered a frontrunner for the upcoming UK TV awards season.
The six-parter from Boffola Pictures and Happy Valley producer Lookout Point follows Nic (Cooper), a mother grieving a loss that she can’t share with anyone whilst stuck in a depressing marriage. Only her son, Ollie, keeps her going. But when Jen (Hizli) arrives in town,...

Am I Being Unreasonable? review: Daisy May Cooper is flawless in her first follow-up to This Country
When I first heard about Am I Being Unreasonable?, I assumed it was some satire on the parenting website Mumsnet. The people on it spend an inordinate amount of their supposedly busy days discussing difficult tradespeople or the unsavoury sexual habits of their “Dh” (Dear Husband). Oftentimes they seek validation for their actions from their fellow members, by asking “…am I being unreasonable?” Or “Aibu” in the Mumsnet argot.
The latest comedy vehicle from This Country’s creator and star Daisy May Cooper isn’t about Mumsnet as such, except that the character she plays, Nic, inhabits a quintessentially middle-class English environment (Cooper’s native Cotswolds by the looks of things), and she seems prone to asking the most intimate questions about herself on Mumsnet. She has a nice house, a clever little son who’s more mature than she is, and an eccentric cleaning lady. She struggles to make friends in the village,...

There’s something comforting about the predictability of a period piece novel adaptation in the Masterpiece Theater tradition. Knowing the story, or even just the rhythms of the genre, there are rarely many surprises. The women will toss off witticisms and cry careful, pretty tears; the men will steel their jaws and declare their love, ideally after reluctantly falling for a woman they hadn’t considered before. There will be romance, heartbreak, births, deaths. Even when it’s not a great adaptation, it’s at least familiar, and that can go a long way.
“Vanity Fair” is counting on just such leniency. It’s neither terrible nor amazing, but at the very least, it’s efficient.
In seven episodes spanning years of social climbing, devastating warfare, and undulating class dynamics, this latest version of William Thackeray’s “Vanity Fair” enlists a game cast to follow Becky Sharp (Olivia Cooke), an...

The visit came just weeks after her former bandmate Mel B unexpectedly burst into a snippet from the hit song during her final performance as Roxie Hart in Broadway’s Chicago.

The show's ratings have not been great but Undateable will be back for a third season on NBC -- but there will be an interesting twist.
Undateable follows a group of single friends who are trying to figure out the fine art of relationships. The cast includes Chris D'Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Fynn, Bianca Kajlich, and Bridgit Mendler.
The first season of Undateable aired last summer and drew unimpressive ratings, averaging a 0.91 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.78 million viewers. NBC is still struggling in the sitcom department so they renewed it for a second season anyway.

Last summer, NBC launched a new sitcom called Undateable and it performed poorly in the ratings. The network still renewed it for a season two and decided to give it a second chance, airing it behind The Voice. Will the numbers improve enough for this sitcom to be renewed for a third season or, will it be cancelled instead?

NBC ordered the Undateable TV series over a year ago but it's taken them this long to air it -- despite the fact that their Thursday schedule had poor ratings all season. That certainly doesn't sound like a vote of confidence for this new comedy. Will it be quietly cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned!

NBC has renewed their low-rated summer sitcom Undateable for a second season. Executive producer Bill Lawrence tweeted the news and wrote, "Overexcited to do 2nd season of a Undateable on NBC. #pickedup."
Undateable follows a group of single friends who are trying to figure out the fine art of relationships. The cast includes Chris D'Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Fynn, and Bianca Kajlich.
The series debuted in late May to a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.84 million viewers. The ratings declined over the course of the season, falling as low as a 0.6 demo rating with 2.24 million. The season averaged a 0.9 rating with 2.78 million.

NBC is betting heavy that viewers will stick around to watch two actors they may miss, and that Bill Lawrence‘s CV will add a little nudge whenever someone thinks of turning away. So far, it isn’t a great bet.
Undateable focuses on a group of… guys who need help with women, who suddenly have Danny Burton (Chris D’Elia) thrust into their circle. He’s not only the guy who has no trouble going home with a different woman every night, he’s also the guy with little to no ambition who is perfectly happy with his overall situation. Too smart to be shallow and bordering on useless by the natural course of ignorance, he has instead made a conscious decision to adopt his pig in slop mentality.
Danny connects with the group by way of needing a new roommate, and opting for Justin Kearney (Brent Morin), owner...

It’s tough to be a new TV comedy. Deep down, jaded viewers are expecting you to not be funny, so if they actually laugh, they can’t trust themselves. They give tempered reviews like, “Lord help me, but I laughed,” so if others didn’t, they’ve at least taken the first jab at themselves which should lessen other’s blows.
Well, I thought Undateable was kinda funny. (So Lord help me.)

NBC's new comedy "Undateable" debuts on NBC on Thursday night, introducing primetime audiences to a host of fresh comedy faces.
In the sitcom, actor/stand-up comedian Brent Morin (in his first series TV role) dons khakis and button up shirts (and occasionally, bicycle shorts) to play Justin, a bar owner, with some personal dating quirks. He quickly becomes roommates with Chris D'Elia's leather-jacket wearing Danny, a man who has no trouble getting ladies, but a lot of trouble keeping them.

In a world where a hook up is a phone app away, can a gay man still be clueless about dating?
In the world of NBC’s Undateable, the answer is yes.
In the new sitcom, created by Adam Sztykiel and Exec Produced by Bill Lawrence (Cougar Town, Scrubs), a group of men are coached through their dating woes by a self-proclaimed dating expert, Danny (comic Chris D’Elia). One of the friends is Brett, who is newly out of the closet and equally clueless about dating as his friends.
Actor David Fynn plays Brett and talked to TheBacklot about the new take on the gay character as well as some of the misadventures he’ll endure while trying to make a love connection on the new series.
TheBacklot: The show really presents Brett as just one of the guys. Can you talk about what we’ll see in his journey?...

I interviewed "Undateable" executive producer Bill Lawrence and Adam Sztykiel at a noisy bar in Pasadena shortly before a press conference in mid-April. Going back and transcribing the 35-minute interview is bittersweet. At the time, Lawrence had two shows in limbo -- TBS' "Cougar Town" and Fox's newly premiered "Surviving Jack," which he EPed along with creators Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. While Lawrence wasn't directly involved with "Enlisted," he has a close relationship with "Enlisted" and "Cougar Town" creator Kevin Biegel, whose comedy was newly shelved. Since that time, "Enlisted" and "Surviving Jack" were both cancelled. "Cougar Town" was renewed for a final season on TBS. At the time, Lawrence also wasn't feeling especially confident about "Undateable." The multi-cam sitcom, which features Chris D'Elia as seemingly cocksure ladies man Danny, who mentors the less confident Justin (Brent Morin) and his group of allegedly "undateable" friends. "Undateable" had been...

With a few exceptions, good and successful comedy series are, if not dead, on life support. NBC is hoping to revive its anemic comic line up with the new multi-camera series Undateable. The show follows the antics of a group of friends, and their lackluster romantic lives. Undateable's cast features primarily young stand-up comics known mostly to their fans and nobody else.
Leading man Danny (Chis D'Elia) is a commitment phobe man-child who, while looking for a roommate, meets bar owner Justin (Brent Morin) who not only needs a place to live but some serious help in jump starting his love life. Danny's recently divorced sister Leslie (Bianca Kajlich), Justin's crush and cocktail waitress.bartender Nicki (Biga Heelan), Justin's recently out-of-the-closet bartender Brett (David Fynn) and barflies Burski (Rick Glassman) and Shelly (Ron Funches) round out the group.

David Fynn has landed a regular role on NBC’s midseason comedy Undateable, from executive producer Bill Lawrence and Warner Bros TV. The bromantic comedy centers on Danny (Chris D’Elia) and Justin (Brent Morin) — two very different guys who are bonded by their common inability to attract women. Flynn, repped by Luber Roklin, Gersh and Shepherd Management in the UK, will play Brett, Justin’s gay and prohibitively picky undateable friend who always finds something wrong with a guy. He replaces Matthew Wilkas, who plated the role in the pilot. This is one of two re-castings on Undateable after it was picked up to series. The series also is looking for an actress to replace Briga Heelan, who co-starred in the pilot as a guest star as she had already been cast as the female lead in the TBS pilot Ground Floor, which went to series.
