Back in the 2000s, one horror franchise would reign supreme over all others… Saw. From 2004 to 2010, seven films were released and each was more gruesome than the next. People usually break the franchise down into different groups as to which is their favorite. There’s the original trilogy, which most would say is where the best films stem from. It’s also where Leigh Whannell, James Wan and Darren Lynn Bousman had the most control over the franchise. There’s the middle trilogy, which most tend to hate and believe the series jumped the shark. Then there’s 7-9 where it consists of a 3D film, a film entitled Jigsaw and...

From September 15th until October 30th, I’ll be watching at least one new to me horror film every day, and providing collections of capsule reviews week by week. On Halloween itself, as ever, I’m planning an all day marathon of some of my favourite horror films.
I hope you’ll find it interesting following as I dig further into a genre I’ve always loved, and maybe find some hidden gems along the way yourselves.
Week 1’s film can be found here
Week 2’s films are here.
The perils of Week 3 are just a click away.
Now… Prepare yourself for Horrorthon 4
The Collector (2009) Dir: Marcus Dunstan
Apparently, this was originally conceived as a prequel to Saw, but when the screenplay was rejected for that idea, it was re-jigged as a standalone, which has now received its own sequel, if not one that has birthed a franchise on the level of Saw.

Once Upon A Time, Season 1, Episode 9: “True North”
Written by David H. Goodman & Liz Tigelaar
Directed by Dean White
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on ABC
This week’s episode “True North,” introduces yet another set of characters whose story breaks a bit from the main conflict. Fortunately, their story eventually incorporates into main mystery of Storybrooke as a prison, which the show is still developing at a reasonable pace.
While in Mr. Clark’s (Sneezy’s) general store, Henry meets Ava and her twin brother Nicholas, who he soon learns are orphans struggling to survive without parents. As Emma takes it upon herself to find their father, Regina does her best to have the kids shipped to separate foster homes in Boston. In the fairy tale world, the children are revealed to be Hansel and Gretel.
When Hansel and Gretel lose their father in the forest, the Evil Queen intercepts them.

Hansel and Gretel to arrive on the scene & more in this new "Once Upon A Time" spoiler. ABC recently dropped some spoiler synopsis details on us for the upcoming episode 9,and guess who's arriving. Yep,it's none other than the legendary Hansel and Gretel. We also have details on who'll they'll be in the regular Storybrooke world, where they have forgotten who the hell they really are. Actor Quinn Lord will play Hansel, and actress Karley Scott Collins will play Gretel. Apparently Hansel and Gretel will get caught up in one of the evil queen's scandalous plans as she will order them to steal an important artifact from a blind witch. Hansel and Gretel's alter ego names in Storybrooke will be Josef and Ava. There's currently no word on what their role in Storybrooke society will be. We're also going to see the appearance of Mr. Clark aka dwarf Sneezy,...

Fringe 3x15: In Which Little Peter Wants to Go Home and Walternate Gets a Clue
As a sequel to last season’s 'Peter', this week’s 1980’s flashback stood out as one the show’s most poignant, most revealing episodes to date. No gruesome offerings, no FBI interrogations, no lead actors save for John Noble – 'Subject 13' was a stark look back at the six months following Peter’s abduction by Walter from the Other Side.
Things That Made Me Happy (and by happy I mean teary-eyed):
The Teaser – Despite the lack of gruesome or grotesque, the opening sequence was chilling and eerily disturbing as we saw little Peter trail across the icy Reiden Lake in an attempt to go home and Elizabeth Bishop racing to save her ‘son’ from dying a second time. The desperation and sadness really set the tone for the rest of the episode.

Raise your hand if you, as I did, yelped out an expletive while watching Friday night’s Fringe, upon realizing that young Olivia (played by Karley Scott Collins) had revealed to Walter — make that, the wrong Walter — how and when she crossed over to the other side.
Ratings for February 26: Smallville Up, Fringe Holds Steady
To see that “dot” connected — how Walternate, frustrated by his inexplicable loss for so long, came to discover just how his Peter had been kidnapped — was a serious goosebump moment, because right then and there so, so many dominoes began to topple over, ultimately...

It seems that what we learned last week in “6B” about the heightened emotional state playing a very important part in the ability to safely travel through universes has, in fact, been the basis of Walter’s research from the very beginning.
He knew that by using a device to cross, such as he did to save Walternate’s Peter from dying of the same disease his own Peter did, created such havoc on the fabric separating the universes that it was unwise to attempt to do so again, even if it meant Peter couldn’t get home.
For some reason, it was lost on me, when we first learned about Walter saving Peter from the other side, that he had every intention of returning him.
I’m not saying that it wasn’t made perfectly clear to other people, but in my mind’s eye he had intended to...

This is a review of The Collector, directed by Marcus Dunstan and starring Josh Stewart, Michael Reilly Burke, Andrea Roth, Juan Fernández, Karley Scott Collins, Daniella Alonso and Haley Pullos. When a movie’s promotional material includes the information that it’s from the same writers “as Saw IV, V and VI”, you know that you’re not likely to be treated to subtlety. And thus it proves with The Collector, co-written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (who also directed). Locksmith Arkin (Josh Stewart), in an effort to pay off some of his ex wife’s debts, decides to rob the home of a recent client. The client is a jeweller, and is supposedly away on holiday with his family. However, when Arkin breaks into the house, he soon realises that the property’s not as empty as he believed. The family is still home, imprisoned and tortured by...
