Back to the Future is considered to be one of the greatest time travel films ever made. Having become a hit in the mid-’80s, the sci–fi classic has been discovered by fresh eyes in the four decades since its release with each new wave of fans fascinated by its behind the scenes trivia.
Do you remember the first time you heard that Michael J. Fox wasn’t originally cast as Marty McFly? Do you recall how weird it was seeing footage of Mask star Eric Stolz as Marty, or finding out that the film would have been called Space Man from Pluto if producer Steven Spielberg hadn’t stepped in to stop studio exec Sid Sheinberg from changing the title? Did you know that Marty’s mentor Doc Brown was supposed to have a pet chimp instead of a dog called Einstein?

Ausiello: Prepare for a twist ending to rival all twist endings, setting up a doozy of a 12th and final season. “We’ve pulled out all the stops,” declares Bones exec producer Jonathan Collier of Thursday’s closer. “We’re really trying to challenge our characters, challenge our relationships, challenge even the safety of those we love and wrapping it up with an incredible surprise. For years, the hunt for more footage of Eric Stolz's original rendition of Marty McFly in Back To The Future has been an elusive quest. After several huge anniversaries, and just as many home video re-releases, no further release of the four week's that were shot with Stolz's incarnation has been released to the public - outside of clips included in previous documentaries. But if you watch the video below, you'll see a clip of footage that's been right under your nose all this time. YouTube contributors Too Old To Grow Up are the mad geniuses that spotted the shot in the cafe during Marty and George's pep talk back in 1955. It's a classic scene that we've all seen countless times, and it's never stood out as anything weird in comparison to the rest of the film. But little did we know that during all of this time,...

When Quentin Tarantino's brilliant, groundbreaking Pulp Fiction was released twenty years ago, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the 13-year-old star of the Disney sports comedy Angels in the Outfield. Last night, he starred in a live reading of Pulp Fiction as Vincent Vega (John Travolta's character), effectively getting a do-over on 1994.

Although less than a decade old, sci-fi thriller The Butterfly Effect is reportedly being remade...
When it came out in 2004, The Butterfly Effect received mixed reviews but succeeded in being a minor box office success. Ashton Kutcher starred as a young man suffering from the effects of a traumatic past who uses time travel to try to fix all the things that went wrong - but unfortunately, the changes he makes affect the present in ways he can't predict.
Less than a decade on from its original release, there's a remake in the works - and it has at least a couple of links with the original, including the same producers (Aj Dix, Anthony Rhulen, Chris Bender and Jc Spink, in case you were wondering) and the writer and director of the original film, Eric Bress, writing a new take on the script.

Just when it looked like we had lost Bob Zemeckis to performance capture forever, he allowed himself to be sucked back into “conventional” film-making with Flight, an undoubtedly impressive return to live action, with Denzel Washington scooping up another Oscar nomination as the compromised pilot who manages to land a stricken aeroplane despite flying three sheets to the wind.
Flight is out now on DVD and in honour of Zemeckis’ excellent resumé, we offer a consideration of some of his finest work as a Director, starting with the film (and franchise) that made his name.
1. Back To The Future
Goodness me, if ever there were a film that has entered the collective consciousness, this is it.
Even if you haven’t seen it (and surely everyone has?) you’d be familiar with “1.21 gigawatts”, “Great Scott!”, the Flux Capacitor and cinema’s most memorable rendition of Johnny B. Goode. Along with The Goonies,...
