The shoppers have spoken.
SNL‘s Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer helped announce the winners of the largest U.S. consumer survey at the 2017 Product of the Year Awards on Thursday. The 28 categories include best skin care, hair care and bathroom cleaner, but let’s get to what we all really care about: the food and beverages.
A total of 40,000 consumers voted Russell Stover’s Pecan Delight the best new chocolate. Sara Lee’s Artesano Bakery Bread took home the title for best specialty bread, and shoppers loved Broken Cloud’s Pinot Noir the most out of all the new wines on the market.

2015 WWE Tough Enough winner Sara Lee has been increasing her size as she continues to train in the Performance Center. The Michigan-born developmental talent posted several pictures to her Instagram and Twitter showing off her increased muscle mass, accompanied by the caption ‘#gains’.
It’s obvious that Lee has been making full use of the Performance Center’s state-of-the-art fitness facilities. Despite having not yet made her Nxt debut, she looks to be getting herself into fighting shape – and a call-up could well be on the horizon.
Lee has been travelling with several Nxt workers, and recently posted a picture from a Citrus Springs meet-and-greet alongside former Nxt Tag Team Champions Aiden English and Simon Gotch – collectively known as The Vaudevillains.
The news is encouraging for the direction of women’s wrestling as a whole. With talent focusing on looking like fighters rather than supermodels, from the...

With Sara Lee and Josh Bredle winning the $250,000 Tough Enough contracts last month, it was expected that others from the cast would find themselves lading WWE deals. Amanda has been recently signed to take part in Total Divas, and now it appears another competitor from the show is moving forward with the company.
Zamariah Loupe, best known to fans as Zz, was spotted at the WWE Performance Center on Monday, according to PWInsider. Zz took part in training sessions in the ring with other WWE developmental talents, so it appears either he has signed a deal with the company or the option is being explored.
Considering other talents from the show such as Patrick Clark and Mada are still out there, un-signed, the potential news of a contract being offered to Zz would have to be seen as a bit of a surprise. Though he did connect with the audience throughout the contest,...

Naomi (Trinity Fatu) has been replaced on WWE Total Divas, reports PWInsider. The replacement is Tough Enough runner-up Amanda Saccomanno, with PWInsider confirming she is now on the Total Divas cast. She’s been at several WWE tapings recently, shooting footage with the other Total Divas.
Naomi has commented on Twitter, stating “Unfortunately we have been replaced for the 2nd time but I support my girls & wish for another successful season.”
This is a surprise move from WWE, and Naomi can’t be happy with the change. Amanda has done nothing to deserve the spot, other than losing the Tough Enough final. She has an okay look for the wrestling business, but she’s not a pro wrestler.
Being handed this great gig will undoubtedly cop her some locker room heat, even with her Total Divas cast mates. Naomi was well liked and is a hard worker. Amanda already had some level of heat,...

This past summer was an interesting one within WWE. In the ring Seth Rollins continued killing it as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Finn Bálor defeated Kevin Owens to win the Nxt Championship and both The Undertaker and Sting made their first appearances on WWE television since WrestleMania 31.
A lot also happened outside of the ring as well, with Josh Bredl and Sara Lee being offered $250,000 WWE contracts as the winners of the Tough Enough reboot and, on a much sourer note, WWE cut all ties to the man regarded as perhaps the biggest name in their history, Hulk Hogan.
However, one of the most interesting thing thats happened over the summer (which received a fair amount of attention) was that Reddit user Kingjobbah leaked eight pages of what are thought to be WWE guidelines written by Vince McMahon himself to advise the WWE announcers.

There is a “ton of heat” on WWE Nxt’s Blue Pants, the wrestling observer newsletter reports. Real name Leva Bates, she isn’t even under a WWE contract, but is used on a fairly regular basis.
The resentment stems from the fact she was flown in for Nxt Takeover Brooklyn, and put in an angle with Alexa Bliss. That was a spot many other full time women on the Nxt roster would have wanted. Blue Pants was getting to side with the new tag team champions against Bliss’ Blake And Murphy team. Meanwhile, full time Nxt wrestlers were left off the live special.
The heat is also about the fact that Blue Pants gets to sell her own merchandise and doesn’t have to split the cut. The belief is that she’s making more money than the Nxt women, because she’s free to do indies...

Imagine starting a new job from scratch and having cameras following your every move with viewers dictating whether you stay or go. This is exactly what the contestants of the WWE Tough Enough reality show competition had to deal with the last 10 weeks. Sara Lee, Amanda Saccomanno, Zamariah “Zz” Loupe and Josh Bredl survived eliminations, harsh critiques, physically draining challenges and training sessions to emerge the four finalists. This week it was Sara and Josh who were named Tough Enough with fans voting them as their picks to receive the $250,000 WWE contracts. Paul “Triple H” Levesque, executive vice … Continue reading →

The 2015 season of WWE Tough Enough is over and the winners are Josh Bredl of Thornton, Colorado and Sara Lee of Hope, Michigan.
Triple H was on hand to present Sara and Josh with checks of $250,000 as well as one year developmental contracts with WWE.
Josh beat out Zz in the voting with 70% of the vote while Zz had 30% of the vote. Throughout the competition, Zz was the most popular competitor and was able to avoid elimination due to his strong connection with the audience. However, Josh gained steam throughout the season and was clearly the superior performer out of the final two guys.
In the vote to determine the female winner, Sara won with 64% compared to 36% for Amanda. It was pretty obvious that a lot of WWE people liked Amanda more because she’s a blonde fitness model with a great body and was solid in the ring,...

Four remain on Tough Enough with two receiving $250,000 WWE contracts live 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. Sara Lee and Zamariah “Zz” Loupe hope it will be them. The fan favorites have survived because they have resonated with audiences. Their groundswell of support has grown, despite not progressing as quickly as the rest of the field. Where they lack in physical areas they have made up for in personality. Sara and Zz joined their fellow remaining cast members Josh Bredl and Amanda Saccomanno in New York City for the SummerSlam week festivities. This week was the eighth episode of Tough Enough and the person eliminated was Giorgia (aka Gigi).
The final three were nominated because Daniel Bryan felt that Gigi didn’t do a good job as a babyface, The Miz criticized Tanner for his lack of a personality and Paige likes to nominate Sara Lee because she doesn’t think she’s very good.
In the final three, Sara Lee had 43% of the fan vote, Tanner had 35% of the vote and Gigi managed only 22%. Why do people like Sara Lee so much when she really hasn’t done that much? It’s hard to say, but maybe she’s got that underdog look that people like.

Finally! The U.S. government announced on Thursday that it will be banning the use of trans fats in commercial food production. While only 11 years later than countries like Denmark and Iceland, the move is projected to save at least 20,000 American lives each year. The Fda determined that these partially hydrogenated oils - long referred to as "killer fats" - are no longer recognized as "safe for use in food." Why are trans fats so controversial? These fake fats clog your arteries and directly contribute to arteriosclerosis (blockage and hardening of your arteries). These man-made fats are created when the...

No, seriously, I’ve been perhaps a bit harsh on Merlin over the past couple weeks—deservedly so, I’d argue—but this week I promise to present a more balanced look at the show and point out a few things Merlin does as well as anyone else on television.
And I’d like to start with crossbow crotch-shots. How many others shows on television so prominently and blatantly feature crossbow crotch-shots? I don’t remember that on Revolution or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The Avengers’ Hawkeye never quite shot his load the same way as demonstrated on this week’s Merlin. And oh, yes, Hunger Games, you may have made bows and arrows trendy again, but even you would not pander to your happy gay demographic...

Washington -- Boy bands from the '90s, Oscar-winning actresses and the PTA are just some of the hundreds of individuals and organizations on the National Rifle Association's recently updated "National Organizations With Anti-Gun Policies" list. As the nation's largest gun lobby assumes a leading role in the national debate over gun control, the list of individuals and groups, which was published by the NRA in September, underscores a persistent message the NRA sends to members: It's us against them.
"The following organizations have lent monetary, grassroots or some other type of direct support to anti-gun organizations," it says at the top of the list. "In many instances, these organizations lent their name in support of specific campaigns to pass anti-gun legislation … All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions."

Confession: I don't read enough. Worse, I don't read well. I'm always anxious about getting to good sections or flipping past unnecessary text, and I lose the fun of reading, uh, for fun. That's why I've come up with a quick summer reading list that I think the AfterElton demographic will love specifically. These five books have come out within the past year, they're all well-reviewed, and they're all as titllating and flavorful as an average Matt Bomer photo shoot. I say we give these tomes a whirl.
I've chosen non-fiction, entertainment biz selections only. We're all still compulsively into that stuff, right? I sure am.

Washington, Nov 21: Demi Moore is reportedly very furious with Ashton Kutcher, for cheating on her and bringing their 6-year marriage to a humiliating end.
The allegations of Sara Lee claiming Kutcher slept with her on the night of his sixth wedding anniversary, caused irreparable damage to the couple, with Moore being widely reported on several occasions as losing a concerning amount of weight due to stress.
According to MTV the actress finally called time on the marriage earlier this week.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother.

Diane Keaton and Woody Allen were an iconic couple during the "Annie Hall" era, but Keaton's new memoir, "Then Again," reveals that she was battling some serious personal demons during those halcyon days.
The Daily Mail reports that Keaton regularly bailed out on dates with Allen so that she could go home to binge on "barely imaginable quantities of food." She describes dinner as "a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, several orders of chips with blue cheese and ketchup, a couple of TV dinners, chocolate-covered almonds, a large bottle of 7Up, a pound of peanut brittle, M&Ms, mango juice, one Sara Lee pound cake, and three frozen banana-cream pies."
Breakfast and lunch were similarly shocking. Keaton would vomit afterward, purging the food. In the book, Keaton searches for answers about her illness and questions whether it stemmed from resentment that as a child, she didn't have money and treats on hand regularly.

The people have spoken. Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner will be sobbing into their breakfasts, for the film you wanted us to live blog today is Kathryn Bigelow's K19: The Widowmaker. What happened when Catherine Shoard sat down at 12:05 to watch it on Channel 4?
11.47am: It's matinee time again here at the Guardian; join us from noon for an upsetting tale of deep sea disaster.
12.04pm: Yikes - ok folks, slightly close call, but here in time for the credits I think.
12.04pm: It's beginning. Militaristic font there. With a little light Russia style string twanging. And definite ominous orchestral undertones.
12.05pm: So - based on true events. Set in 1961. Submarine distaster at the height of the Cold War.
12.06pm: Buttons. Action. Men. Uniforms. Liam Neeson doing faint Russian accent - the way to signify they're all Soviet rather than actually talking in Russian.
12.07pm: I'm finding this quite exciting.

New York -- On the heels of the fastest-moving television upfront in recent memory, the bulk of the kids business has been locked in, with estimates putting total volume for this year's bazaar at $850 million-$865 million, a gain of 3%-5% from the 2009-10 haul.
Although bolstered by an improving economy and increased spending from primary endemics, the kids upfront was not nearly as robust as the general entertainment marketplace. All told, the major kid-centric networks saw Cpm rates increase by 6% compared with last year's pricing, with Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite enjoying the biggest gains (8%-9%).
Nickelodeon closed out its business as the rest of the MTV Networks were finishing their 2010-11 upfront deals. Nick was boosted by its continued ratings success -- it closed out first-quarter 2010 tops in total day among ad-supported networks, averaging 2.3 million viewers and sweeping all major kiddie demographics -- and the fact that toys, games and...

Jimmy Dean, country music singer and sausage king, has died at the age of 81 in his Virginia home. Dean had one smash hit in 1961 with "Big Bad John," a song about a quiet, working-class miner who saves his colleagues in a cave-in but is himself lost. It won Dean a Grammy.
Dean was also on various television programs in the '50s and '60s, including "The Jimmy Dean Show," which started on CBS and then moved to ABC from 1963 to 1966. In 1969, he started the Jimmy Dean Meat Co. in his hometown, though the company was sold to Sara Lee Corp. in 1984, which famously dropped Dean as its spokesperson in 2003.
Besides wife Donna Meade Dean, Dean is survived by three children and two grandchildren. Arrangements have not be made for the funeral, but it will be a private service, Meade tells the Associated Press.

Country singer Jimmy Dean, whose career as a storyteller was equaled later in life by his success as a sausage pitchman, died at his home in Varina, Virginia, on Sunday night at the age of 81. According to CNN, the Country Music Hall of Famer apparently died of natural causes.
Though later in life his name was most familiar for his famous line of smoked sausages, Dean made his mark first in the world of country music, scoring a #1 hit on the pop and country charts in 1961 with the song "Big Bad John," a tune about a mysterious, Paul Bunyan-esque coal miner who saves his fellow workers after a mine collapse.
