- They were an R&B group in the 1960s and 70s. Their biggest hit was "Thin Line Between Love and Hate," although "Love Gonna Pack Up" and "Some Guys Have All the Luck" had moderate success. "Some Guys" would go on to become a hit for both Rod Stewart and Robert Palmer.
- The band had former members of of doo-wop groups the Internationals and the Majestics. The original lineup was led by singer Smokey Scott and included Jimmy Barnes, Charles Stodghill, and Willie Holland. The musical force behind the group was pianist/songwriter Richard Poindexter.
