Granger (Dolph Lundgren) is a retired soldier, now getting by in Vancouver, teaching martial arts to kids. One afternoon a sorceress arrives at his home, pursued by hooded assassins and after he disarms them the sorceress takes him back to the middle ages, where he must fulfill and ancient prophecy by killing an aged seer. There’s also a dragon and lots of trees and shifting allegiances and turncoats and surprisingly shiny teeth.

Uwe Boll here directs the sequel to his Jason Statham-starring (relative) success In The Name Of The King, though there seems to be no great need to have seen the first film to be able to make sense of this one. It becomes immediately apparent that this is a film making the best it can of extremely limited resources, and it repeatedly shows, to the utter detriment of the film. In The Name Of The King: Two Worlds
Stars: Dolph Lundgren, Lochlyn Munro, Natassia Malthe | Written by Michael Nachoff | Directed by Uwe Boll
In the Name of the King: Two Worlds stars legendary movie hard-man Dolph Lundgren as Granger, a lethal ex-forces soldier transported back in time to fulfil an ancient prophecy and defeat the threatening forces of darkness, in a mystical age where dragons scorch the skies and the only way to fight is in brutal hand-to-hand combat. But as he fights his way to the truth and to get back home Granger learns that one wrong move could cost him not only his life, but the very future of his world.
Taking over the Uwe Boll directed franchise from his Expendables co-star Jason Statham, Lundgren walks his way through this unwanted sequel to the less-than-stellar original film which was itself based on the Dungeon Siege video game series.

*a DVD screener of this film was provided by Phase 4 Films.
Director: Uwe Boll.
Writer: Michael Nachoff.
In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds is a sequel to the 2007 film starring Jason Statham. Here, Dolph Lundgren plays the hero, Granger. Other changes include fewer actors overall in this second film, fewer sets and fewer named actors and actresses. From director Uwe Boll, this film is likely targeted to 12 to 15 year old boys, Larpers or Boll fans. Others might find this sword and sandal styled film only lightly entertaining.
The story follows your usual fantasy film with a hero setting things right in a darkened kingdom. A double-talking king, Raven (Lochlyn Munro) sets the "chosen one" (Lundgren) to track down the "old mother" for assassination. The "dark ones" hinder his progress and when he meets the old crone, his eyes are opened to Raven's double-dealing ways. Then, enter...

Nazis. I’m tired of these fucks. Look, if you’re gonna be an asshole and hate an entire culture, at least have a reason. Even then, you can just stay away from these people. I hate douchebags, and for good reason, but you don’t see me using copies of Maxim magazine to lure them into a cattle car. I just stay away from trendy dance clubs (not that they would let me in anyway). Our heroine feels much the same way I do, and the movie begins with her explaining in voice over who the Nazis are and why they are bad. After all, not everybody is a history major. She ends the lesson with the phrase “…fucking Nazis.” It’s good to know we’re on the same wavelength.

Bloodrayne: The Third Reich is the second sequel to a video game adaption franchise. This title is directed by the notorious Uwe Boll (Rampage), who is no stranger to the straight-to-video film market. This latest film follows Bloodrayne (2005) and Bloodrayne II: Deliverance (2007). And you might be upset to find out that Boll intends to make a fourth film in this series, based on the final scene of this latest flick *groan*.
There is an interesting element in Boll's filmmaking strategies, as another film, titled Blubberella, was filmed almost simultaneously as Bloodrayne: The Third Reich. Both films use the same characters, same actors, same sets and even the same plotline. Only the genre changes from thriller to comedy. That curious tidbit aside, Bloodrayne: The Third Reich turns out to be an average thriller, with...

The Film:
Holy Uwe Boll!
If his name doesn’t immediately make you smile or groan than this film certainly won’t be for you, despite the accessibility of the subject – video game adaptation, hot girls, vampires, and Nazis – Bloodrayne: The Third Reich is well, I hate to delve into cliches when writing, but damn it, here it goes: it’s easily his best film. I think maybe the cliched statement there won’t be my issue, it’ll be the paradox I just threw myself into.
I think Boll is an odd paradox. Here’s a director that to escape obscurity in the Dtv market, purposely bit his lip and exclaimed “I’m not a bad director!” only to evoke the Internet base into pouncing on top of him. Luckily, he’s somewhat protected by a small, loyal group, that agree. We all know the awful Bollness: House of the Dead,...

Could the third time be the charm for Uwe Boll's BloodRayne movies? We'll all find out when BloodRayne: The Third Reich hits DVD shelves a week after July Fourth.
