- As a youth, he was very active in sports ranging from swimming to basketball, football, table tennis and track. He spent most of his time sharpening his skills at Hargraves Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
- He broke his left arm when he was seven years old riding a skateboard. He never road a skateboard again. Instead, he learned how to stunt ride ATV's and mini bikes which later led to stunt riding sport motorcycles and appearing in music videos (background) with Ruff Ryder's Entertainment. In 1999 Rich aka "FACE" was named President of the Ruff Ryder LifeStyles chapter of North Carolina and built the Ruff Ryder brand from the ground up in NC and SC with Vice-President Todd Gibbs.
- Fractured his left leg in a football championship game held at Durham County Stadium in the opening kickoff return. Richard was a running back and then became a defense back in high school.
- Auditioned for the supporting role as Curtis in the Hofstra University film "Crossbay Boulevard" and instead was given the leading role of Cedric.
- Patterson drove 15hrs from Atlanta Georgia to New York City to audition for the Hofstra University film "Crossbay Boulevard." He rehearsed and memorized lines for both supporting and lead characters while driving up the highway.
- Rich is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated and is one of 13 line brothers all listed in order: Dimitri Yates, Donovan Caves, Richard Patterson, Terrence "Host of 106&Park" Jenkins, Frederick Whitaker, Travis Bond Roseboro, Darnell "Time" Reid, Billy "Honcho" McEachern, Jerome Butts, Uche Byrd, Tamario Howze, Charles Biney and Fred"Tail"Boone.
- Rich Patt played an integral role in the financing of the popular restaurant Good Stuff Eatery located in Washington, D.C. Rich was a Bank Manager of BB&T Bank at the time and shared the vision of Harvey Mendelsohn and Harvey's son from Bravo TV's "Top Chef" Spike Mendelsohn.
- Rich Patt found out he was adopted when he was 20 years old. He met his biological mother at age 25 and met his two younger brothers at the same time named Eric and Anthony whom happen to share the same first names as his two best friends Eric Carter and Tony Dicks. Rich Patt, Tony, E. Carter (Eric), Timmi (Olu Moses), Will Pill (William Lash) and Shad (Rashad Gibson) have all continued to share a close bond as brothers, best friends and are recognized as the original NC A&T Entourage (Including Bread, Trey Mack, Antoine Holt, Champ, Lenny, Fred, Tarique) 1998-2002.
- Rich graduated from Chapel Hill High School and enrolled into NC A&T, however, he dropped out of college twice before deciding to take college seriously and graduated in 6 1/2 years.
