“The Jungle Book” is on its way to VFX Oscar gold after getting five Ves nods Tuesday night at the Beverly Hilton. “Rogue One,” the “Star Wars” standalone, however, came away empty-handed after receiving seven nominations.
Innovative Disney hybrid “The Jungle Book” won for outstanding feature, King Louie’s animated performance, virtual cinematography, effects simulations, and compositing.

Disney’s “Moana” grabbed two animation awards (created environment and simulations), Pixar won for Hank’s animated performance, and Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” won for its New York City environment
The Ves Visionary Award went to Victoria Alonso, producer and Marvel Studios Evp of physical production. Five-time Oscar winner Ken Ralston (“Return of the Jedi” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?...

According to Tom Cochrane, life is a highway we need to ride all night long.
But when you throw a pile of Canadian musicians in a sweaty arena dressing room with a bunch of former NHL players and Canadian National Women's Team members apparently life is a big ol' singalong as well.
CBC Music just published a video from this year's Juno Cup where musicians and pros sang Cochrane's "Life Is A Highway" together and it's a mighty fun time.
The rockers and jocks were together for the Juno Cup, an annual charity hockey game held during the week of the Juno Awards. This year it was held at Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw, Sk.
On the ice the likes of rapper Classified and Billy Talent's Jon Gallant took on bruising ex-pros like Troy Crowder, Stanley Cup winner Mark Napier and Canadian Nats Natalie Spooner and Bailey Bram. During the dressing room singalong,...

Following talks with manager Simon Grayson, Huddersfield Town centre back Jamie McCombe has agreed to cancel his contract by mutual agreement, according to TeamTalk.
McCombe made a total of sixty eight appearances and scored nine goals during his time with the club. The move comes shortly after Town decided to allow fellow defender Anthony Kay to leave the club and join League One Mk Dons.
Talks between the manager and the player revealed that he needs to play regularly. McCombe who is twenty nine years of age only made five senior first team appearances last season and with new defensive enforcement’s in the form of Joel Lynch and Paul Dixon now is probably the best time for the player to make a move to pastures new.
Having played for Bristol and Lincoln City it will be interesting to see who would be willing to offer the centre back a contract.

Listen up!
Halloween is Monday, so how about some special tracks to accompany whatever celebrations you’ll be having between then and now?
First up is a truly bizarre, horrifying and sincere little track. It comes from a weird oddity of the recording industry, a subset of recordings known as “song-poems.” If you don’t know what these are, I’ll let the American Song-Poem Music Archive explain:
Song-poem music is a scam in which innocent people are deceived into paying to have a poem or song lyric they’ve written set to a tune and recorded. Although the song-poem company suggests in its promotional literature that it will support the finished recording, and that it therefore has a chance to become a smash hit, in reality once the record is completed and returned to the customer it is quickly forgotten about, in favor of the location and seduction of new victims.
