Melissa Foxx
- Actress
Melissa Foxx was born on the 25th of August in Nantucket, Massachusetts
into a family that had newspaper ink in their veins. She followed in
their esteemed footprints working for newspapers and even worked in the
television industry by the time she left for collage in Salem of West
Virginia. She distinguished herself there as the first freshman student
to have a show in the history of the school. She was an intern with
WBZZ B-96FM, which led to her first on air job until heading to Orlando
Florida in May of 1992. She was quickly hired at WHTQ Q-96FM but just
as quickly left to work at WJRR 101.1 FM. It was then that she began
her workaholic attitude of being in two places at once. She took on the
job of writing and anchoring the news at WWINZ 740AM. Feeling the
strain of it all, Melissa left radio altogether for a job with the
Burger King Corporate office in management, but soon missed the
personal satisfaction that radio performance allowed her. Then in 1997
Jenny Sue Rhodes was moving behind the scenes as Program Director at
WTKS 104.1 Real Radio, so they needed someone to take over as host of
the then hour long morning news show before Howard Stern and to give
the local slant during breaks of his show. The cutting edge wit of
sarcasm that is Melissa Foxx was just the ticket into that spot. The
News Thang took on Melissa's personality and style with ease. She
returned to WWNZ 740AM on The Movie Guys and even bankrolled the Get a
Life Show herself in order to express her love of music and give the
local musicians a forum for their art to be heard. Melissa has since
moved on to become a manager/promoter for singer Linda Nunez.
