- Shari Emami was born in Port Jefferson, New York. She comes from Italian, Irish-Catholic, English and Iranian (Persian) decent. Her father is Iranian (Emami-Naini) and mother is Italian/Irish, Capurso/Connolly. Her great grandfather and grandfather are part of the imam jomeh, a famous high clergy priest known in Iran for the city of Naine.
Shari was an active in drama, dance, violin in high school. She had friends involved in the industry, but never knew if that was what she really wanted to do. She got a small part in the movie "Man on the Moon", and an indie film titled "Momento Mori." When she was 19 she was discovered by a manager from an agency in L.A. and she got signed. She was off being sent for commercial print work and for ads such as GAP, Rampage, Sears. She became well known on the internet as a model as well, and also did trade shows and spokesmodel gigs.
In 2002 she was cast in a Sci Fci series, but it never got picked up. After a long haul with her agency, she decided to part ways and start up her first passion.. music. She graduated from college (The Art Institute), in Los Angeles and decided to pursue her music dreams. She came in for 2004 for one of her songs under the "suggested artists" category for her song "Release." for VH1 Save the Music.
In 2005 she was accepted to American University and Hofstra University. She deferred her acceptance to go to MI in L.A. to study music. She also recorded music with James Lugo and studied privately with English instructor Jon Dunmore Sinclair. In junior high and high school she was active in her drama, dance and choir department. She even toured San Francisco with her high school choir.
At age 19 she got a small featured role in the film " Man on the Moon" with Jim Carrey and Courtney Love. Later on that year she was discovered by manager Janelle Star of ISM management and wanted to sign her immediately. Shari had to wait though to finish her college studies till she could sign. As of 2002 she signed with ISM and her first audition was for Wella. She did not get the job, but she did book a weeks worth of spokesmodel gigs in Vegas for a huge tradeshow event. She also became an internet model on babes.net, and 93x "hot chick of the day". She did print work as well, as was noted as "Miss Lone Star"
In 2004 she parted ways with her agency and decided to go to her first love which was music. In June of 2004 she came in under the "suggested artists" category for VH1 Save the Music, for her song "release" which was about a young girl struggling with trichtillomania. It moved judges to tears and she decided to continue studying music. Since she was classically trained, she had to re train herself in pop and pop/rock style sounds. She studied with Katy Williams, James Lugo and Jon Sinclair. She also deferred her acceptance to Hofstra University's music department to study at MI in Hollywood to be closer to home. In 2006 she recorded her first EP "Love, Lies and Goodbyes" and also took part in being filmed for a TV pilot titled "Dr. Rock" (Steve Mellon and Madrik Multimedia). In 2007 she added co producer to her credits when she released her single "Hypnotized"
As of 2009 she has appeared on "The Tyra Banks Show", "Millionare Matchmaker", "Foursome", as well as spoof films such as "Sunday School Musical" and "Tony Montana Animal Whisperer".
