Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of Survivor Nicaragua - Episode 12.Sorry for the delay in getting tonight’s post up, especially for those of you who are used to it being up at 9:30 Et. I’m still on the West Coast, so didn’t even get to watch the episode until it aired here. That will happen again next week…but better late than never, right?
My Random Thoughts:
- Previously on Survivor…Two People Quit! I still can’t believe it. But Probst’s voice-over reminded viewers of something that they may have forgotten: Sash got screwed. Leader of an alliance of four and holding an Immunity Idol, but a Brenda Blindside and the NaOnka-Kelly Quit-a-Palooza later, he’s now flying solo, a self-proclaimed “Free Agent.”
- Benry talked about mentioning at Tribal Council how they named the chicken after the quitters. Smart guy, huh? The quitters who get a vote,...

Alina Wilson was the next in a string of strong female competitors to be voted out of "Survivor: Nicaragua." She tells Zap2it about her experience and how hard it is for strong women to succeed in the game.
Did you enjoy Survivor? Was it everything you hoped it would be?
"It was everything and more. I absolutely loved 'Survivor,' I loved every minute of it and I loved watching it unravel on TV. It was so cool and literally the best experience of my life. Every memory I have of it is great. Even though I was voted out way earlier than I expected to be, I'm very, very happy."
Now that you've seen the show air, has anything or anyone surprised you?
"Most recently, I was very surprised by Benry's animosity towards me. I was shocked by that. And NaOnka's personality as a whole was very shocking to me.

Wait, what? Marty's still alive? How is that possible? Marty gives away the idol to someone who is planning on double crossing and he survives the vote? What in the name of Erik Reichenbach (of Survivor: Micronesia infamy) is going on?
In our review, we talked about how lucky Marty is to be alive and how dumb he was to give away the idol. But, was he really dumb? What was La Flor up to when they ousted Jill instead of Marty? Who is Blake Griffin and what does he have to do with Survivor (he's a much anticipated rookie for the Los Angeles Clippers)?
Our writers took a stab at this week's questions. What's your take?
Do you give away the idol if you're Marty?
Kakdaddy: I find this difficult to answer because everything so far has told me that Sash and Brenda cannot be trusted. I...

Perhaps (alright, certainly) Marty is not the Greatest Survivor Player of All Time. However, as last night's episode showed, Marty might be the luckiest Survivor player of all time.
In my defense, I merely suggested that Marty’s place on top of the podium was possible after a very confusing tribal council last week. We now know that Marty had no idea what was going on. Rather, the young La Florians simply confused all of us with their big talk about Marty only to pull a 180 and plan to vote off Kelly B instead. Marty calls the La Florians bluff, doesn’t play the idol and still survives.
This week, Marty foolishly gives his idol to Sash (more on that later) who has told the audience that he plans on double crossing Marty. Then, completely unexplained, the young La Florians (Brenda, Kelly S, Jud, Sash) make another confusing move and vote off Jill instead.

On the latest "Survivor: Nicaragua," someone looks like a pretty big chump.
After voting Kelly B. and Yve off, the tribes are in a bit of unrest. Alina is the new target at Espada and Marty is mad he was targeted. He also wonders why Jane has flipped to the youngsters. He confronts her and she just laughs about voting for Marty. It's kinda weird and definitely makes him suspicious.
Reward Challenge
A defender is on a perch in a big pool while the other tribe leap at the defender and throw a ball in a net. First tribe to score 5 points wins a reward that is a Nicaraguan farm experience with horseback riding and a big fresh breakfast.
La Flor sits out Jane and puts up Fabio as the defender. Chase is Espada's defender. The first miss is Marty, then Fabio deflects Holly's. Dan totally biffs his and...

It's never easy to hear that your tribe would rather keep around the crotchety old guy who frequently threatens to quit, walks with a limp and arrived at camp with $1,600 loafers, but that's what happened to Yve Rojas on Wednesday (Oct. 20) night's "Survivor: Nicaragua." It wasn't Yve's fault. She was just the latest part of the original age-advanced Espada tribe laid to waste by the influx of kids and helpful turncoat Holly. HitFix chatted with Yve about her elimination and her "Survivor" regrets on Thursday morning. [With any luck, this will be the last interview of the...

To hear Yve Rojas tell it, she has many people to blame for her early exit from Survivor: Nicaragua. She points the finger at Tyrone Davis for eating too much, at Dan Lembo for complaining too much, and at herself for dropping the ball. But the most surprising person the 41-year-old homemaker blames is host Jeff Probst. "I think Jeff threw me under the bus a little bit when he said, 'Why wouldn't you keep someone like Dan around?" Rojas said. She talked with TVGuide.com about why she failed to connect with her teammates, why she wanted Dan to go, and what her tribe needs to do to...

Yve Rojas fell victim to a double elimination on "Survivor: Nicaragua" and she tells Zap2it that she hopes to see an Espada member as the ultimate survivor. Read our exit Q&A with fellow eliminee Kelly Bruno here.
Are you glad you did "Survivor"?
"I'm so glad I did "Survivor" and so grateful that I was invited to participate. So often we say we can do something, but we rarely follow through and this was one of those times that I thought, 'Wow, I'm goign to have a little bit of perseverance to show my girls that their mom is a go-getter.' It was much more brutal than people could ever know without actually having the opportunity to go out there and fight for themselves in the game, but I'd do it again."
What did you think of the initial division between the tribes, older versus younger?

"Survivor: Nicaragua" had a double elimination Wednesday night (Oct. 20) and Kelly Bruno was one of the victims. Perceived as a huge threat to get sympathy votes because of her artificial leg, Kelly nevertheless says she was thrilled to have had the chance. You can also read our exit Q&A with Yve Rojas here.

"I'm so thrilled I had the opportunity to be on "Survivor." It was a lot harder than I was expecting. It's a lot easier to watch from your couch at home. It's a different story being out there. It definitely made me a stronger person."
Were you surprised to watch the show and see all the stuff your tribemates were saying about you behind your back?

Left in the dark after the wild La Flor tribal council our Survivor Round Table writers convened to discuss their theories on what happened. Our review covered one possibility, but with so few facts to go on, anything is possible. Also, what was Holly thinking? Is NaOnka actually making sense? Which nickname should stick for Brenda?
Our readers must have their theories as well, right? Let's hear 'em!
Holy Manipulating Marty! What the heck happened at La Flor's tribal council?
Quiet Pool: I think Mr. Probst overestimated everyone's intelligence in his review. The young La Florians got confused after Marty didn't use his immunity idol. Or maybe they were so ill-prepared that they had no plan for a re-vote and were wingin' it.
Lady Gaga: Mind blowing! What the heck happened? Could Marty have used the idol for the second vote? No, right? So many questions. Were they really that worried about Kelly B?...

The Espada tribe may have made an idiotic move by snuffing out Yve instead of Dan but the fans are still eating up the aging reality show: Survivor won its timeslot on Wednesday among adults 18-49 (3.5 rating/11 share) and viewers (11.9 million). Buoyed by another heavily-viewed episode of Criminal Minds (14.2 million) and The Defenders (9.9 million), CBS ended up overtaking the baseball playoffs on Fox and won the night in viewers (12 million) and adults 18-49 (3.1/9).
The National League playoff game between the Phillies and the Giants on Fox averaged a 2.7/8 in the demo — up 50% versus last year’s Game 4 on TBS, which...

Did you miss last week’s tribe shuffle? Check out my recap here.
This week’s episode of Survivor begins at Espada after yet another Tribal Council and the ouster of Tyrone. There is a storm rolling in, which Dan can not abide. He wants to quit because he can’t deal with another twenty days of rain. Holly tries to encourage him, but confesses to the camera that quitting is the easy way out. “You’ve signed up for something — suck it up and finish!” Yve and Holly collect wood, when Yve asks why she wasn’t let in on the tribe voting for Tyrone. She would have went along without a fuss, so she what’s to know what’s up. Holly says that she and Dan weren’t so sure Yve would vote with them because they thought she and Tyrone had an alliance. Yve assures Holly that she didn’t.

I’M So Confused…
Two people were sent home, and from my vantage point they were the wrong two people. More on that later.
Double Elimination Insight
Let me explain why we have to have double tribal councils. When the show first started we had 16 contestants. That is still the perfect number if you want to vote one person out each week and have a final two scenario at the last tribal council. To be clear — we Love starting with sixteen people.
Here’s the problem. Over the years, contestants have become okay with quitting. After Osten did it back in the Pearl Islands,...

Scheming! Flipping! Voting! Voting again! Voting some more! After tonight's dizzying installment of Survivor: Nicaragua, I'm dizzier than a spectator at a Guillermo Vilas grand master chess tournament. Or is it tennis match? Either way, it was almost impossible to keep score. Is it fair to say that the right Castaways went home? We're going to miss you, Yve and Kelly B., even if NaOnka won't. Grand Master Flash: When we talked before the game in Nicaragua, Marty cited a famous quote by Mexican revolutionary-tennis star Emiliano Zapata: "It is better to die on your feet than live on your knees." (A motto apparently not endorsed by Dan.) But tonight, he almost went out with...

After the conclusion of Survivor: All-Stars last spring, I debated whether Sandra was the best to ever play Survivor. There are plenty of good arguments for Sandra, but ultimately I settled on Parvati.
However, after what happened tonight, I may need to reserve the right to change my mind on who's Survivor's Greatest Of All Time (Goat).
Is this man the new Goat of Survivor?
We’ll spend the next seven days until Survivor airs again wondering “what the heck happened?!?” on this week's episode "Worst Case Scenario". In a departure from the Survivor norm, the show only hinted at the possibility of something shocking happening with the La Flor tribe and did so only once, never returning to the idea. Typically we’re inundated with different suggestions and possibilities from various interviews.

"Survivor: Nicaragua" had a big shake up when two people were sent home -- we were pretty bummed that it was Kelly Bruno and Yve Rojas.
Challenge
The tribes are playing amongst themselves for an individual immunity necklace and each tribe is sending someone home tonight. Ooooh. The challenge is digging for a rope ring that is tossed into a basket behind their backs. There are three rings to be found, caught and put on a rack. The winner from each tribe will square off for a reward -- reward is a ring toss and the reward is a feast. The winning tribe gets to go to Tribal first, then gets to watch the other tribe's council while they eat their feast. Nice.
Espada goes first. Ben, Alina and Holly are neck and neck for the win and Holly pulls it out. Wow, good for you older lady! When La Flor goes,...

Kelly Bruno & Yve Rojas got voted off 'Survivor 21 Nicaragua' in episode 6. Tonight's show kicked off with the scenes from last week's episode when Tyrone Davis got voted off the island. Then they showed more cast commentary. Yve expressed to some of her older tribemembers that she felt a little out of the loop when she wasn't told of their plan to get rid of Tyrone last week. Brenda revealed that she wanted to get rid of Marty. Next, they showed footage of the immunity challenge. This time,it was for individual immunity, meaning each tribe had to get rid of someone this week. In the challenge, all the tribe members used paddles to scoop up a ring, toss them it over their backs into a bag,and return it to the starting station. The first to get three, won. Holly ended up winning immunity out of her tribe. Jill won immunity out of her tribe.

“Turf Wars” opens with Espada, once again, having returned to camp after Tribal Council. As Marty stokes the fire, Holly comments that Jimmy T was really a good guy, who worked hard. She confesses to the camera that she had absolutely no idea Jimmy was being voted out. She thought they were voting out the weakest member of the tribe, which is clearly Dan. Now, she knows that she is on the outs with her tribe, so something needs to change, and quickly.
The next morning, Marty confides that Tribal Council was a “slam dunk.” It is now clear that he’s in charge. He tells Dan that they are in a good position. Dan says he was shocked that Jane and Holly voted against him. Marty replies that those omen have signed their own death warrants. Back to the camera,...

Survivor: Nicaragua had it's best episode of the season last night. The once weak Espada tribe was given new life when four members of La Flor joined forces with Holly, Dan, Yve and Tyrone. Unfortunately for Tyrone Davis, the one-time frontrunner just couldn't keep his appetite in check to last another day. I had a chance to talk with the Fire Captain from Inglewood, CA about his Survivor experience, and you are never going to believe who he is rooting for to win the game.
How are you doing Tyrone?
I'm doing fantastically well thank you.
I really didn't think I'd be talking to you this early.
Hey I appreciate that.

Tyrone Davis is too abrasive when the tribes are switched up and the young 'uns send him home on the latest "Survivor: Nicaragua."
Post-Tribal
The oldies aren't too sad that Jimmy T. was sent packing. They dispense with the post-tribal within the first five minutes. Luckily, when they get to the challenge, Jeff switches the tribes up.

Did you miss last week’s ouster of NFL Great Jimmy Johnson? Catch up on my recap here.
This week’s episode starts with Espada back camp after voting out Coach Jimmy Johnson. The first storm of the season hits, depressing everyone. Everyone but Jimmy T, that is. He confides to the camera that what Coach (Jimmy J) considered his great leadership skills was nothing more than a couple of basic speeches. It was clear that Coach wasn’t a Jimmy T fan, so Jimmy T isn’t going to miss him. Jimmy (no longer Jimmy T from here on out in these recaps) starts singing, very poorly, and annoying his tribe. Marty confesses that Jimmy is just putting on the “Jimmy T Show.” “Jimmy needs to hear his own voice 24/7…, but if you give him enough rope, he’ll hang himself.”
The next morning, Holly looks out on the destruction caused by the storm.

"Survivor: Nicaragua" snuffed the torch of celebrity contestant Jimmy Johnson Wednesday night (Sept. 29). He talks to us about his strategy (or lack thereof) on the show.
"I was hoping that [being famous] would work to my favor because I tried to convince everybody that I wasn't going to win a million dollars and I wasn't a threat," says Johnson. "Evidently I miscalculated because Marty still felt like I was a threat and needed to get me out of there."
"Had I known that they felt like I was a threat, I would've at least tried to form an alliance," he continues. "I think I could've formed an alliance with the women, with Jane and Yve and Holly and possibly Tyrone and probably gotten Daniel out of there."
But despite being voted out third, Johnson is still incredibly glad he participated in the show.
"I'm probably a bigger fan of the show than I've ever been.

Jimmy Johnson definitely proved his mettle as a two-time Super Bowl-winning coach, but when it came to the game of "Survivor," his celebrity put a target on his back. Wednesday night, the "NFL Sunday" analyst was ousted from Nicaragua by several conniving members of the Espada tribe. He tells Et, he never saw it coming. Do you think your renown as a coach essentially put a target on your back right from the start? Jimmy Johnson: I was hoping it would work to my favor because I tried to convince everybody I wouldn't win the million dollars and that I wasn't a threat. I thought I had pretty well convinced everybody of that but, apparently, I miscalculated because Marty still felt like I was a threat and needed to get me out of there. Jimmy Johnson will not be adding the title of ‘Sole Survivor’ to his formidable list of accomplishments anytime soon. The two-time Super Bowl winning coach was voted out of Survivor: Nicaragua last night, undone by other men jealous of his success and celebrity status. I talked with Jimmy today about the plot to get him out, his frustration with Jimmy T., and how he dealt with his ultimate foe in the game — Father Time. Read on after the jump for the full Q&A!

Last night’s episode of Survivor, “Glitter In Their Eyes” was a reminder that as much as Survivor is a social game it is also still very much a physical game. Despite his celebrity coming into the season and earned respect during his time with the Espada tribe, Jimmy Johnson couldn’t escape that he was the oldest and possibly weakest member of his tribe.
Even though the women on his tribe loved him, he was unanimously voted out.
This speaks volumes to how the tribe’s perception of Jimmy J varied from what we saw of Jimmy J on the screen. Heading in to tribal council, it seemed very possible that Jimmy J, Jane, Holly, Yve and Tyrone would vote for Dan, out gunning Marty, Jill, Jimmy T and Dan’s votes for Jimmy J five to four. A vote of eight to one means that everyone felt that...

Did you miss last week’s episode of Survivor: Nicaragua? Catch up with a recap here.
This week’s episode begins with La Flor, chastened yet probably better off without a homophobic loud-mouth, returning to their camp. Alina mentions that Jeff said the tribe is divided so that they need to start working together. NaOnka confesses to the camera, though, that everyone was acting “faker than faux fur.” Everybody is acting like they are one big, happy family, but that couldn’t be farther form the truth. She says that Alina, Kelly B and Fabio were shocked that Shannon was voted out (although, it appears NaOnka can’t do math because there were only three votes against Brenda, so one of them, which ended up being Kelly B, voted against Shannon), so that they need to watch their backs, because they are going to get bit on the butt.

['Survivor: Nicaragua' - 'Glitter in Their Eyes']
As last night's third (kinda boring) episode of 'Survivor: Nicaragua' unfolded, two things became abundantly clear. One, Marty's insanely jealous of Jimmy Johnson and wants him gone. Two, NaOnka's gunning to be the season's resident badass. Would either -- or both -- get their wish?
Having voted off pompous loudmouth, Shannon Elkins, in last week's Tribal Council, the younger La Flor tribe returned to camp hellbent on "beating these old people," while, for their part, the "old people" continued to grapple with having Coach Jimmy Johnson in their midst.
The silver fox certainly has a polarizing effect on his tribe. "I'm a little starstruck by [him]," homemaker Yve admitted (yeah, it's a tad obvious). "He, at his soul, is inspiring." But, not everyone's as enamored with the two-time Super Bowl winner. Marty the "technology executive" who fancies himself the mastermind of the elder statesmen,...

"Survivor: Nicaragua" loses its celebrity contestant in Jimmy Johnson, and only three weeks in. Bummer.
La Flor
NaOnka is not happy about the fake unity and she continues to hate Jud because he's kind of an idiot. He is, but she's a real witch about, well, everything. Stop complaining!
Alina and Kelly B. are in trouble because they were aligned with Shannon. So now it's Kelly Purple, NaOnka, Chase, Brenda and Sash who are allies and they need the guys for challenges, so Alina is the target if they lose immunity.
Espada
Jimmy Johnson tracks down some monkeys because they want the monkeys' food. He hoots and hollers at them, while various tribe members talking-head about whether or not they like Jimmy. Marty and Jimmy T. clearly are threatened/jealous about him because their idea that he's a threat is silly. He won't win the money, he's filthy rich and famous!

Yes, Super Bowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson really is coming on board Survivor this season.
The former Dallas Cowboys employee will be part of the Espada tribe, as Survivor: Nicaragua breaks up its contestants into old versus young. Will Johnson be voted out early, due to his status? Or kept around... due to his status?
"He's wealthy - or you certainly think he is," Jeff Probst said to E! News about Johnson's status on the show. "He's incredibly successful, so he has fame... He'll tell you, 'If I win, I'm giving it to charity.' He really wants adventure."
Probst also shared a few details about the upcoming season, which premieres on Wednesday, September 15. Due to the discrepancy in tribe ages, there won't be any "big physical challenges." But there will be a new twist: the Medallion of Power.
If the tribe that possesses this item chooses to use it,...

Two-time Super Bowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson headlines the new cast of Survivor: Nicaragua when it premieres Wednesday, September 15 on CBS. The former coach (who also won college championships as both a player and a coach) and current Fox football analyst will join nine other contestants over the age of 40 on the Espada tribe to take on 10 contestants 30 and under in Survivor’s second old vs. young battle (Survivor: Panama was split into four tribes divided by both age and gender). The younger La Flor tribe features Survivor’s second amputee contestant, Kelly Bruno, who lost her right leg to...
