2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of writer/director Wes Craven’s classic A Nightmare on Elm Street (watch it Here), but there doesn’t appear to be any news about a revival of that franchise anywhere on the horizon. Meanwhile, Variety reports that writer/director Gene Fallaize is preparing to head into production on a new thriller called Nightmares – which sounds like it’s digging into the true story that inspired Craven to write the original Nightmare in the first place.
A Nightmare on Elm Street isn’t directly referenced anywhere in the Variety article, but when you take the title Nightmares and combine it with the synopsis, their report does seem to point in the direction of Elm Street. The synopsis says Fallaize’s script is based on the true story that became the basis one of the greatest horror movies of all time, following a journalist...

Kevin Spacey will appear as a character named “The Devil” in Italian director Massimo Paolucci’s psychological thriller “The Contract,” which just wrapped principal photography in Rome.
The English-language film, described in a statement as having a similar storyline as Alan Parker’s “Angel Heart” and Taylor Hackford’s “The Devil’s Advocate,” also stars Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano, Italian production company Tm Entertainment said.
Spacey arrived in Rome last December to shoot “The Contract.”
Reps for Spacey, Roberts and Spano did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The “House of Cards” star’s career imploded amid allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017, but he has since been found not liable in an October 2022 lawsuit brought by “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp and was declared not guilty in a U.K. sexual assault trial in July 2023. On Monday night, the University of Oxford hosted What Shakespeare Can Teach Us About Cancel Culture, a lecture from columnist Douglas Murray honoring the late conservative British philosopher Roger Scruton. There, Kevin Spacey performed a five-minute scene from Timon of Athens, marking his first onstage appearance since being acquitted of sexual assault in July. The audience punctuated his performance with a standing ovation.

The world premiere of “Control,” Kevin Spacey’s first film since he was acquitted of sexual assault, has dealt with a few setbacks after a London cinema dropped its offer to host due to the actor’s involvement in the micro-budget Welsh thriller.
The Prince Charles Cinema, an avid supporter of independent film located in Leicester Place, withdrew its offer to host the “Control” premiere after the theater was made aware of Spacey’s role in the movie.
The two-time Oscar winner, who was acquitted of sexual assault charges at a London trial back in July, recorded his part but does not appear on screen; his voice is heard in phone calls with Home Secretary Stella Simmons, played by Welsh actor Lauren Metcalfe.

Kevin Spacey’s attempted career comeback has suffered a blow, with a London cinema dropping its offer to host the premiere of his new film.
The Daily Mail newspaper reports that the Prince Charles Cinema, a big supporter of independent film from its location just off Leicester Square in the centre of London’s film district, withdrew its offer to host Welsh thriller Control, once it was made aware of Spacey’s involvement.
The double Oscar winner, who was acquitted of sexual assault charges at a London trial earlier this summer, is an unseen character in the film, with his voice heard in phone calls with the main character, played by Welsh actress Lauren Metcalfe.
The Daily Mail quotes an email from the cinema boss Greg Lynn, in which he wrote:
“We have an issue. It is with my apologies that I have to inform you that we have cancelled your hire with us.

Making the decision to hire Kevin Spacey for an upcoming film before his acquittal of sexual assault was worth the risk, according to his co-star and producer.
Lauren Metcalfe, who worked with the Oscar winner on the film Control – due for release in December – told the BBC that collaborating with Spacey was “an incredible experience.”
She said:
“He was cleared [in the US] at the time and we wanted to base it [the decision to hire him] on facts rather than to enter into cancel culture.
“We were really privileged that he signed on for the role and then working with him has been one of the highlights of my career.
“As a producer, on that side of things, we all discussed it all together at length, you know, pros and cons.
“I feel that everyone I met had their own opinion on what was happening and so it was a really tricky time to navigate through so much noise.

A few days ago, Cupsogue Pictures unveiled a trailer for the low budget thriller Control, which marks the first film to have Kevin Spacey in the cast since his sex offenses trial ended with the actor being found “not guilty of all nine charges related to sexual misconduct, including seven of sexual assault.” Spacey’s part is entirely vocal and he recorded his lines last December. Now it has been announced (via Variety) that Control has secured a release date. The film is set to be released in both the United States and the United Kingdom on December 15th.
Oddly, Variety also notes the movie doesn’t have a US distributor yet, so it’s not clear how it can already have a release date. But it’s said to be likely that sales agent TriCoast Worldwide will end up releasing it through their distribution arm, TriCoast Entertainment.

“Control,” Kevin Spacey’s first film following his acquittal for sexual assault in the U.K., is set to get a Christmas release.
Variety understands the feature — in which Spacey doesn’t appear but has a major voice role — will be released in both the U.S. and the U.K. on Dec. 15.
Sales agent TriCoast Worldwide previously confirmed it was aiming for a winter release.
While a U.S. distributor has not yet been lined up, sources indicate TriCoast’s distribution arm, TriCoast Entertainment is the likely frontrunner to acquire the rights.
“Control,” which was directed by British auteur Gene Fallaize, sees Spacey play a mysterious figure hellbent on revenge who remotely hijacks a British government official’s car.
The actor recorded his part in London last December while awaiting trial for sexual and indecent assault in the U.K.. He was found not guilty on all charges last month.

Days after a London jury acquitted him of sexual assault, Kevin Spacey is back in the public eye — or at least the public ear — in the trailer for a new movie, Control. He portrays “The Voice” in the clip, speaking to Great Britain’s home secretary (Bridgerton’s Lauren Metcalfe) as he remotely takes control of her car and terrorizes her for some supposed misdeeds she’s committed politically. The car, which also contains the prime minister’s daughter, hits a pedestrian and hurdles toward oncoming traffic.

A couple weeks ago, Kevin Spacey’s sex offenses trial ended with the actor being found “not guilty of all nine charges related to sexual misconduct, including seven of sexual assault.” So now Cupsogue Pictures has gone ahead and unveiled a trailer for the upcoming low budget thriller Control, which happens to have Spacey in the cast. You won’t see him in the trailer embedded above, but his voice is quite prominent. According to Variety, Spacey’s performance in the film is entirely vocal.
Spacey’s Control character is a menacing presence who manages to hijack a government official’s smart car in order to exact revenge.
The government official, Home Secretary Stella Simmons, is played by Lauren Metcalfe, who has previously had small roles on Bridgerton and the TV series version of War of the Worlds that starred Gabriel Bryne. Mark Hampton (Liaison) is also in the cast as Prime Minister David Addams.

The director of a low-budget British indie that sparked controversy last year by casting Kevin Spacey months before his his sexual assault trial in the U.K. is saying his decision has now been proven right.
Control — which was announced in November, just two weeks after London’s Crown Prosecution Service brought the number of sexual offense charges Spacey would be facing up to 12 — is a thriller in which a British politician sees her self-driving car hijacked by a man seeking revenge. Spacey was cast in a voice-only role as the main antagonist.
Speaking to the U.K.’s Sky News shortly after Spacey was cleared of all charges on Wednesday, writer-director Gene Fallaize said that he “absolutely knew” that casting the two-time Oscar winner was “going to be a risky move.”
Fallaize said: “I discussed it at length with my producers about the pros and cons, we really weighed it out.

Kevin Spacey alleged in a new interview with ZEITmagazin that people will start hiring him for more acting projects if he is cleared of sexual assault charges in London following an upcoming trial that is set to begin on June 28. The Oscar winner was charged one year ago in London with four counts of sexual assault, relating to alleged incidents that took place between 2005 and 2013.
“It’s a time in which a lot of people are very afraid that if they support me, they will be canceled,” Spacey said about his career. “But I know that there are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London. Unfortunately for them, the gates separating heaven and hell have been broken, leaving the world of angels and demons in ruins. Soon, our heroes are tasked with putting things right to avert a war between God’s celestial hosts and Satan’s devilish army. Lucius, as you might expect, is the one aiming to bring about the hellish madness. It shouldn't be too much of a stretch for Stormare, who previously played Lucifer himself in Constantine and who therefore has devilish previous.Gene Fallaize is preparing to crank the...

Who would you want to meet if you could find anyone you wanted after you died? Chances are a few people would say Bruce Campbell, especially since a) he’s entertaining and b) he’s got the chin to deal with anything dangerous in the afterlife. He’s now headed to limbo, signing to star alongside The Inbetweeners’ James Buckley in Welcome To Purgatory.Gene Fallaize is gearing up to shoot the film at Pinewood Studios in London, working from a script by Marcus Ako and Tony Cook. Here's a fan-made Superman film called Superman: Requiem. The 22-minute short was directed by Gene Fallaize, and is being billed as the "ultimate fan-film." I'll let you be the judge of that.
Superman, the world's greatest super hero, is relied on by law enforcement around the globe to deal with some of the major crises that face society. But, when the Man of Steel loses some of his powers, after an evil villain's Kryptonite attack, he must overcome new obstacles and prove he really is a super man.

Superman:Requiem is a fan film written, directed, and produced by Gene Fallaize and is starring Martin Richardson as Clark Kent/Superman, Julian McDowell as Perry White, Audrey Kaipio as Cat Grant, Robert Hartley Wainwright as the film's villain, Alex Luthor the estranged son of Lex Luthor and Stacy Sobieski as Ali Noels - who is this film's version of Lois Lane. Why they are changing Lois - I have no clue and do not agree with it. This film is about Superman losing his powers and has to somehow find a way to get them back to save the world from an evil villain whilst learning many things about himself throughout his journey. The film takes place during the "Donner-verse." The story loosely follows the events after the first two Reeve's films and is set exactly three years after Superman Returns. (So does this mean we will also have the Super-kid?...

Here is the second part of my Cbm exclusive interview with Gene Fallaize, writer, director, and co-producer of the upcoming 'Superman: Requiem' fan film. In this part Gene gives us more information on the running time of the film, what influenced the plot, and if we can expect to see any interesting cameos. In this movie we see Superman dealing with the loss of his powers, was this decision influenced by budget? When I wrote the film last Summer I knew that being a fan-film we wouldn’t have much in the way of budget, so tried to think of a way to make sure costs could be saved, while still making an interesting story. Sure, like many fans, I’d love to see an all-out action Superman film, but realistically without much of a budget that wasn’t something we could do, and if we tried I think it...

I've been lucky enough to have the chance to chat with Gene Fallaize, co-producer, writer, and director of the upcoming fan-film 'Superman: Requiem', and he talks about the choice of costume, the classic Superman theme, any cameos we may see, easter eggs hinting at other DC characters, and much more. What do you think it is that will set your fan-film apart from the hundreds we've seen before? I think it is because we have the benefit of having an almost exclusively professional cast and crew on board. Before this I’d never really heard of fan-films, but obviously I’ve been looking at a lot since Requiem came about, and there are some really great ones, and I admire them all for having the drive to get out there and make a fan-film, as they really aren’t easy at all. Other fans want different things from fan films...
